Are you considering breast augmentation surgery? One of the things going through your mind, no doubt, has to do with what you will look like after breast augmentation. The procedure comes with expense and risk so most women want to make sure they plan it well so that they get the results they want.

It is important to note that there simply is no perfect method to perfectly envision what you will look like after the procedure. There are far too many variables involved, some of which your surgeon will not know until they start the operation. Additionally there are now three-dimensional imaging devices used by some doctors which will estimate how your torso will look after breast augmentation. This is an incredible advance in technology but it is not without its flaws.

It is probably important to you about how you will look, but many women who have undergone breast augmentation will tell you that it is even more important to predetermine how you will feel with different breast sizes. Using before and after photos of breast implants and three-dimensional imaging devices simply cannot provide you with an experience which will prepare you for the feelings that come along with bigger breasts.

To that end, there are a variety of breast implant sizing methods in which you can estimate your new breast size on your own body. While many surgeons today still recommend the ancient rice test, the method is highly inadequate and antiquated especially given the advances in modern medicine.

In this test you are supposed to fill a plastic bag with rice, oatmeal, or birdseed in a similar volume to that of a given breast implant size. If you want to try 350cc or 450cc implants, you fill the bag with that amount of rice, oatmeal, or birdseed. This would work fine if breast implants were square like a plastic bag or if you could actually walk around comfortably for a few days with a bra full of birdseed. Unfortunately, many women find this experiment to be less than satisfying.

There are two types of commercially available systems which bring medicine back into the twenty-first century. Most of these are water based and fairly inexpensive. With these you can put a round plastic bag filled with water insider your bra so that you can stand in front of a mirror to see what various breast implant sizes will look like on your body.

More recently a system has come out that is a sewn product which are bra pads similar in size to that of breast implants. To really answer the question about what you will look like after breast augmentation this is the best solution. With a bra pad like this you are able to wear them out and experience the impacts of various breast implant sizes. While a bit more expensive, these give you the best overall predetermination of what you will look and feel like after breast augmentation.

The rice test will cost about ten bucks, while the commercially available systems will run from fifty to a hundred bucks. Given the overall cost of the surgery it is well worth your money to invest in a system that gives you a better experience versus the oatmeal test.

Perhaps the best way to approach the matter of breast implant size is to use both before and after photos of breast augmentation as well as breast implant sizers. Preparation for your surgery is critical if you want to know what you will look like after breast augmentation.

  I think it's great that it's available to women, although I have never had one myself. I may later in life after I have children because I want to be able to breast feed. Keep in mind that you lose sensation, as well as the ability to breast feed if you go for the surgery. Plus there is the risk of scarring and other medical problems. They also need to be replaced in the future, so this won't be a one time thing.
  
  Just do your research and if it's something you really really want despite all the risks, then go for it. Hope it all works out for you.

  For me, it wasn't too terrible but this also depends on the kind of incision you get, how big the implants are, and if they are placed behind or in front of the pectoral muscle.
  
  I had an areolar incision on both breasts, implants of about 200 cc's, and they were placed behind the muscle. It just felt like a large pressure pressing on my chest for about a week or so, and I really only experienced pain for a few days. It was entirely manageable with pain medication. I was back to work within a week without a problem. It's pretty strange to get used to them at first!

  Just about every woman has one breast which is bigger than the other. When I had my augmentation 7 years ago, my left breast needed 330 CCs and my right 365 CCs.
  
  After the surgery you have swelling but both breasts should be very close to the same size. If you can see a significant difference? Your plastic surgeon, to put it bluntly, screwed up.
  
  You should have been told at your last consultation how many CCs were needed in each breast in order to balance them.
  
  I would not wait a week. Call the office & tell them what is going on & get in there sooner. The implant MAY be leaking. If so, I think it needs to be removed very soon. It is either that or the surgeon did not do the right job.

  I had my surgery 10 years ago. I have never had any problems and the pain was normal with this kind of surgery. If she is small and going with a larger implant with more CC's then the skin will stretch and might feel like a 10lbs. dumbbell is on her chest. This pain goes away after time as the skin stretches and the implants drop into place.
  
  No, they do not feel natural as it is basically a bag filled with water in my body, but I am glad that I got the surgery and would not have done anything differently.
  
  I hope that your sister has done her surgery and has consulted with several plastic surgeons as everyone is different. I consulted with one surgeon who said he could fit me in on his lunch break and that sent up a big red flag there.

I called a place in Vegas to get an estimate price for how much fake boobs would be. I was quoted around 00. When you have this surgery done do they automatically do a lift?   the swelling actually may continue for a week or two after surgery. I was so swollen and funky looking for about a month!
  
  Did your surgeon tell you to use ice? Mine said NO ice...the cold causes constriction of the capillaries which actually inhibits the healing process because blood, nutrients and oxygen arent getting to injured tissue.
  
  dont take any pain meds other then what is ordered and dont take more then what is ordered! Because many people know ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory, many people tend to pop a could of them just to get rid of the inflammation following surgery, but the problem is that ibuprofe/motrin has blood thinning properties and cause cause some nasty hematoma formation/bruising. Also, alot of rx pain meds such as percocet already contain tylenol...so taking some OTC tylenol (thinking its harmless) can actually caue a tylenol OD which can potentially result in death.
  
  you should def drink extra fluids, esp water. this may help mobilize some of the fluids causing the inflammation. Also, it will help with the nearly inevitable constipation that follows surgery/anesthesia/pain meds!
  
  So anyhow, sorry, your prolly gonna just have to wait it out. it will get better, dont freak out if you look super funky for a while. It was a good 4-5 months before i started to look like i had normal boobs! I just had mine done in April and they are looking good recently.
  
  but...have someone take a pic of your boobs (front and side angle) every two days or so. This way if you feel like they arent looking 'normal' and look the same as the day after surgery you can compare pics and acutally see the subtle changes that DO happen even if you dont notice in the mirror.
