Tummy Tuck Surgery In India

"Tummy Tuck" or a Abdominoplasty is the most common procedure for flattening the stomach. The tummy tuck is helpful to women who have stretched muscles and skin after pregnancy, or for women who have lost a great deal of weight. It is also a great option for women who suffer from a genetic predisposition towards loose skin. This procedure removes excess skin from the middle and lower abdomen and tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall. The resulting scar is permanent, but can be hidden below the bikini line and will fade with time.

If the area giving you the most trouble is below the belly button, you could qualify for a "mini tummy tuck," or "mini abdominoplasty," which tightens the skin between the pubic area and your navel. This is generally considered a less complex procedure and will take less time. It will also leave less scarring since the incisions will be much smaller...

Who Are the Best Candidates For a Tummy Tuck ?

A tummy tuck is suitable for both men and women who are in good general health overall. It should not be confused with a liposuction (the cosmetic surgery used to remove fat deposits), although your surgeon may elect to perform liposuction as part of a tummy tuck...

Who Should Not Consider a Tummy Tuck ?

If you're a woman who is still planning to have children, then you may want to postpone a tummy tuck until you're through bearing children. Here's why: During surgery, your vertical muscles are tightened. Future pregnancies can separate these muscles...

Pre-Abdominoplasty

Your tummy tuck journey will begin with an initial consultation and evaluation with your surgeon. During this consultation, your surgeon will evaluate your skin tone and abdominal fat deposits, in addition to your overall level of health. When you are talking to your surgeon, it's important to be honest about all of the medications you are currently taking, as well as whether or not you regularly use alcohol or tobacco...

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Your procedure will begin with the administration of anesthesia. Depending on what you and your surgeon previously agreed on, you will either be given general anesthesia or a local anesthesia with a sedative. Both types of anesthesia have their own pros and cons, but you can trust your surgeon to decide which one is best for you.

An additional incision will also be made to free the navel from the tissue that surrounds it. Your surgeon will then separate the skin from your abdominal wall. This separation goes all the way up to your ribs. Once the skin is separated, a large flap of skin will be lifted to reveal your abdominal muscles. Your muscles will be pulled closer in order to tighten them, and then stitched into their new position, which will make them firmer and also make your waist smaller...

Tummy Tuck Recovery

Your abdomen will probably be very sore and swollen for several days after your surgery. However, your doctor will be able to give you medication to help keep any pain under control. While it won't feel great, it's important to start walking shortly after your procedure in order to avoid complications such as blood clotting.

When you leave the hospital, your surgeon will give you directions about when you should change your dressings and how to handle activities such as showering. Any stitches on the surface of your skin will be removed by your physician within five to seven days, while deeper sutures will be removed after two to three weeks...

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
can anyone give me general prices for a tummy tuck?
I'm looking into getting an Extended tummy tuck done and was wondering about prices around the Central Florida area. I know it will be VERY expensive but I'd like to know what is reasonable and what is outrageous.... I also don't want to be quoted something WAY less than usual being that it might mean less than quality doctors. I know I could just make several consultation appointments to find out but I don't really want to get naked in front of THAT MANY random people! :c)
    Thanks in Advance!

  2. QUESTION:
    Tummy Tuck Prices in Nyc?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi -

I had a tummy tuck and hip liposuction done in Connecticut earlier this month. Mine cost just under 00. I did get a quote from plastic surgeon that has an office in both New Haven and Manhattan (I think his name was John Schmidt and the surgery would have been done at some hospital in NYC) and he quoted me 000!

How much you need removed affects the cost, so keep that in mind. My doctor explained all the costs to me...first, there is the surgeon's fee based on how long they think the operation will take. Second, anesthesia costs....heavier people or people with longer surgeries need an anesthesiologist longer, so you need to pay for them. Third: the facility (hospital) fee. Plastic surgeons do surgery like this in a hospital, so you need to pay for the space and staff support. Finally, post-surgery garment fees (girdle / binder.)

Both doctors I saw told me I could finance through Capital One Health Care Finance, so you probably will be able to as well in NYC. I pay like 1 a month.

If you can come to Connecticut, I would recommended Dr. Deborah Pan. She has an office in New Haven, but can do the surgery out of Milford Hospital as well (which is a little closer to NYC.) Her education and credentials are incredible, too. I think her website is http://www.deborahpanmd.com , but if not, just do a web search on her. I am VERY HAPPY with my whole experience.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

  3. QUESTION:
    tummy tuck?
does anbody know of a good dr. in san jose ca that does tummy tucks for a good price?

    • ANSWER:
Y!A is not the place to get referrals, and neither is the yellow pages. If you don't know a plastic surgeon in your area, you need to check with your state medical board to see if they have a referral system. Make sure it is a board certified plastic surgeon. You can also start w/ your family doctor - doctors often know other doctors.

  4. QUESTION:

  5. QUESTION:
where can i get prices for tummy tucks and face lifts in Kentucky?
lost some weight and look a little older than I want to look so am just kind of feeling this stuff out.

    • ANSWER:
Prices will vary between physician based on their fees and the fees charged by the facility your procedures will be done at. You need to think more about skill than money. I've been an OR nurse for 16 years. If I was going to get work done I'd go to Dr. Steve Shantz in Lexington, KY. Here's their web page, it includes a link on financial information.

  8. QUESTION:
What is the average price of a Tummy tuck?
I had gained a lot of weight and had babies lost weight the...the whole fat chick gambit. I now eat healthy exercise every day. I have this extra skin. It just hangs off my muscles :( of course I still have some fat. I am around 140 now and My Dr says I am ready to have it...soooo How much in MT?

    • ANSWER:
This isn't a cheap surgery, but, it's VERY much worth it. The cost varies in different parts of the US. Just for the TT in Salt Lake, it is about 00, I had a little more done though, so it costed morethan that. Some parts of the country is ,000. You should find board certified plastic surgeons, go for consults (alot are free, just ask when scheduling), have at least 3. You'll find out what they'll charge and see if you're a candidate. They may recommend extending your incision if you've got that much loose skin. You don't want to just go with a cheaper PS either though. Make sure you ask to see pictures of other TT's he's done before making your decision on who to go to. Best of luck!!!

  9. QUESTION:
Is 7400 dollars too much for a tummy tuck?
I am thinking about getting a tummy tuck. I checked prices online and it said 4000 to 7000 dollars is about right. I got a consultation from a plastic surgeon in my area in Florida and she quoted me 7400 dollars. I am thinking that maybe that quote is a bit much. Anyone know if that would be a fair price? Thanks
By the way Phoenix, I am thin already and workout 4 times a week, including sit ups. I still have loose skin and at my age, 52, all the diet and exercise in the world wont get rid of the tummy.

    • ANSWER:
      i'm a surgical intern.
a plastic surgeon i know charges ,000 but his work is impectable. watching him perform an operation is like a master piece. i have never seen wounds heal like that before. just perfect.

no your price range is not too bad, but think about it first. if you're going to spend 4-7,000 why not go for 10,000 afterall, it is your body and it is a scar you are going to have until you die. think carefully.

      best of luck~

  14. QUESTION:
    Tummy Tuck in INDIA?
I have been reading about forerunners health care in India for a tummy tuck. The prices are awesome! I want to go in February 2008. But, I need to hear from people that got plastic surgery over there. Are the hospitals clean? Are the hotels nice? Did they give you good care afterthe surgery? I don't need anybody telling me to excercise and diet. I eat very healthy. I have 5 grown children and have flab on my tummy. I have gotton down to 129lbs and still had the same amount of flab that I have now. It is stretched skin, not taken off by excercise. No rude "fat" comments, please.
I have done research. The cost would be appx. ,200.00. This includes:Airfare, 16 days @ Hotel w/guest, food, chauffer, hospital stay, Dr. fee's, surgery, post Dr. visits, medications. I just want to know of anybody who has done this. I'm worried about the work and the cleanliness of the facilities. If you did have this done, at which facility, and who was your Dr. In the U.S., the cost for the procedure is ,000-,000, and that is only for the Dr. fee's and procedure.

    • ANSWER:
Get a piece of paper. Divide it into two columns.

One column is US, the other is India.

In the US list, write out the costs of surgery and prescriptions.

In the India list, write out the costs... passports, plane tickets, hotel reservations, surgery costs, prescriptions, cost of food for the time there, and any pre or post operative costs.

Do not look at COST for the reason to go to India.

Look at the QUALITY of their work.

I would never go to another country to get surgery, unless it was not done here. TT's are done in the US so I'd just stick with a local PS.

      http://www.locateadoc.com
http://www.breasthealthonline.com (they have a TT board)

Edit: Good to hear you did do your research, too many girls I have seen ask this don't. Check out the BHO site (second site above) and check out the TT board and you might find someone who did go to India.

I need a list of cheap tummy tuck procedures in richmond va or anywhere in va?
I lost 100 pounds and wanna get a tummy tuck.. Could u give me some cheap places and prices in va. Example::: 00 the number is xxx-xxxx thanks!

    • ANSWER:
In Richmond I don't know if you will be able to find a TT for ,500 (with a good dr.) but outside the US, for example in Latin America it's sure that for this price you will be able to have your surgery with a skilled plastic surgeon. Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia and Argentina are the best options. I recommend you to go through a medical tourism operator specialized in the organization of plastic surgery trip for american patients and not going directly with a surgeon. (a medical group has already made the selection of the best surgeons)
I had my surgery done in Bolivia and I went through MakeoverTravel a very reputable medical tourism group. I am thrilled with my results. In Bolivia the cost of a tummy tuck if you go with this company is of ,700 but it can be more if you want to have a full liposuction along with your TT, anyway the cost is lower than ,500. I highly recommend them; they did a great job on me.
Good luck (you can check their price on their website Makeovertravel. com

  21. QUESTION:
I am considering having a tummy tuck. What can you tell me about pricing, the procedure, and recovery?
I have recently lost 35 lbs and one from a size 16 to size 6. I am excercising and eating healthy, but can't seem to lose the saggyness and pooch of the tummy.

    • ANSWER:
Hi - First off...great job on losing all that weight!

I just had a tummy tuck on Tuesday for the same reason (although I did not lose nearly as much as you!) I went to a plastic surgeon and they confirmed...diet and exercise would NEVER help me lose my over-distended tummy from my twin pregnancy 3 years ago, and a tummy tuck really was the only way to get rid of it.

It is an expensive procedure...but don't go to INDIA! (crazy.) I'm in Connecticut, and it cost me just under 00 with hip liposuction. (Look into Capital One for cosmetic financing though!) I had a FULL tummy tuck...you may only need a partial one with the amount of weight you lost, so that would be cheaper.
My recovery has been AMAZING....my doctor is floored at how well I've done. THE RECOVERY TOTALLY DEPENDS ON THE PERSON. It sounds like you would recover quickly too because you are physically fit right now, but I have heard of other people who have taken a long time to recover and have had a lot of pain. Plan on a solid 2 to 3 weeks for recovery nevertheless. You will have "drains" put in you to help remove the excess fluid your body produces after the surgery, and you will be HUNCHED OVER...which puts a lot of discomfort on your back. You will need help at home. It is a major surgery...though I went home the same day...but don't think it is something you will be able to do in a week and be back to normal.

Visit at least two local plastic surgeons and get more info. I think it is well worth it. (I was extremely depressed because I still had people asking me "when I was due" three years after my twins were born, so just having a flat stomach...even if I'm not as tiny as I was....is well worth it to me.)

Tummy tuck surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called tour2india4health consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

  27. QUESTION:
Does anyone know the price range for a tummy tuck and liposuction or any good websites?

    • ANSWER:
Hi! I just had a tummy tuck done in Connecticut on Tuesday, and it really depends on where you live. I had a full tummy tuck with hip liposuction and it cost just under 00. I visited another doctor (also in Connecticut) who would do the same surgery, but at his office in Manhattan, and it would cost ,000! My doctor's fees were 00, facility fees, anesthesia, and your girdle/binder are other fees that you need to consider. Connecticut is an expensive place to live, so it would probably be cheaper in other states.

Also, I was a GREAT candidate for a tummy tuck because I had an over-distended stomach due to a twin pregnancy three years ago. DIET AND EXERCISE were NOT going to get rid of it...it was too overstretched. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR first, and a plastic surgeon, to see if they feel a tummy tuck is truly the only option for you. Maybe you can get rid of it some other way.

My doctor (in Connecticut) has a website, but no fees are posted because it truly depends on the individual and facility. Her site was http://www.drdeborahpan.com . Hope this helps!

  29. QUESTION:
what are the surgery requirements for a tummy tuck?
I have had two kids one of which by cesarean and I have a lot of excess skin on the bottom of my stomach due to this. I am 155 pounds and I was wondering what the requirements are to get the surgery? Also a bonus if anyone knows the price range and how much it would cost to do this I live in kentucky. Please don't answer this with ask your insurance company because the current insurance I have doesn't cover cosmetic surgery. This is coming out of my pocket... Anyway any help is greatly appreciated

    • ANSWER:
A good surgeon won't do it if you smoke, because you won't heal as well, and you should be done having kids, getting pregnant again will wreck it. I had a tummy tuck, it was the best thing I ever did. All the stetch marks below my belly button are gone, the ones above my below button are now very very low and my tummy is flat and my belly button is cute. All my excess hanging skin is gone. Mine cost ,000 about six years ago. I live in Phoenix. A great web site with lots of great info and pictures is tuckthattummy.com. You may be able to find someone in Kentuky who had it done and can give you a better idea of current prices. Also, most plastic surgeons will give you a free consult. Just make sure you go with a board certified plastic surgeon. Lots of other types of docs try and do plastic surgery. Believe me, this is a BIG surgery and you want someone who knows what they are doing. Go to that website, you will learn everything. Good luck, I hope you get it done, you will LOVE it, I am so glad I did mine. It was worth every penny.

Who has gotten a tummy-tuck in Mexico before?
I am looking to get a tummy-tuck & lipo in Mexico because it is so much more cheaper there than it is in the U.S. and I am still researching it. I wanted to know if anyone has gotten it done there before and how much did it cost because I have seen some good prices online. Also tell me about your results and healing because i'm really trying to get this done soon in Mexico.

    • ANSWER:
uh... you should probably either go to brazil...or just save up the money and have it done in the US. Never EVER have surgery in Mexico...first off, you cant research the doctor, second...you dont know if the person really even is a doctor...third, they dont have the same sterilization methods/requirements.... who would you go to in case of infection?

remember...when it comes to plastic surgery...you get what you pay for!

    Tummy tuck in California?
About how much does it cost to have a tummy tuck in California? I know the price is different from state to state.
Do you have to pay everything upfront or can you get billed?
Is it at all possible to go back to work a week after surgery?

    • ANSWER:
The cost will also depend on the surgeon and the kind of fees he has.

Some drs will insist that everything is paid up front but if you talk to the Office Manager and ask for the number for who is in charge of doing billing for the dr then let them know your circumstances so you can set up a payment plan.

As for how soon to go back to work I would recommend asking the surgeon about that.

  41. QUESTION:
Tummy tucks? Price info? Is it worth it?
I have been working out for well over a year and lost mos of the weight around allof my body, but I still have a saggy stomach. My doctor says it'm pretty much stuck with it as it's in the genes and it's now more skin than anything. He sugested getting it removed by a plastic surgeon.

Have any of you done this? How much does it cost? Does insurance ever help out in cost (particularly military tricare)

    • ANSWER:
My best friend had a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) 4 weeks ago. She is a runner and works out with weights 3 days per week. The skin she had in her abdominal area was not going anywhere so she decided to go ahead with the tummy tuck.
      Cost: 00
Use a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in abdominoplasty. You will come home with two JP (Jackson Pratt) drains that usually stay in for about 2 weeks. Recovery is rough for the first week. Because she is so healthy she has done great and only missed one week of work.
Insurance does not pay for a tummy tuck unless you have had large babies and have what is called diastasis recti. It often happens in women after they deliver a baby. In diastasis recti, the muscles stretch and pull apart during pregnancy and the efforts of childbirth. This is more likely to happen if the abdominal muscles were already weak.
Insurance does not usually pay for cosmedtic procedures unless it is a result of a medical problem or causes medical problems.

  42. QUESTION:
Is a Tummy Tuck a good idea?
I am 20 years old, I just had a cancerous tumor removed from my left ovary, as well as my ovary, this past January. As a result, I am left with a 7 inch scar across my lower abdomen, just before my bikini line. My stomach now has a little pouch on my lower abdomen because the muscles have been cut. I work out, exercise, diet, I ride my horse every day (which uses your core muscles) and do barn chores etc....I'm a very active person...and I work on my stomach EVERY night...but this pouch isn't going away. I am extremely self conscious now...and I've cried long enough about it. I have become withdrawn from social events. I am envious of other women with their flat stomachs--the way I used to be....I'm just so depressed and angry that I have to look this way. Please make no reference about "I'm lucky to be here and a scar is a small price to pay for cancer" I already know this, and appreciate life so much, but now I'm left with a body I hardly recognize. Is a Tummy Tuck for me?

    • ANSWER:
I just had a tummy tuck done a little over a week ago, and although I am very happy with the results, I think it might be better for you to WAIT a little. The main reason I say this is because you are only 20, and if you are even remotely thinking about having children (which I think is still a possibility for you with one ovary) you don't want to have a tummy tuck now, and then re-stretch everything out.

I feel your pain, though, about being self-conscious and withdrawing from social activities. I had a twin pregnancy 3 years ago and over-stretched my stomach so much that I still had people asking me "when I was due" as recently as THIS Spring. I was depressed, and never looked in mirrors anymore. My husband had to look at my outfit every morning before I went to work to tell me if it looked okay, or if it made my belly too obvious. I didn't even go to my 10 year college reunion this past June because I couldn't face my old friends.

A tummy tuck is a great option for you and will help you regain your self-esteem...which is important. A tummy tuck is made for people like you and me who have had their muscles cut (C-section) and / or overstretched beyond repair. People think exercise will help, but you CAN loose the elasticity in your skin, and that won't come back. But don't waste your money on it now...unless you do not want to ever be pregnant.

  50. QUESTION:
Am I chubby? Should I lose weight? Or get a tummy tuck? What about breast implants?
    I was 5ft 2" 100 pounds and a dress size UK 8
    measurements
    chest - waist - hips
    32 - 26 - 36

    I am now 5ft 2" 130 pounds and a dress size UK 12
    measurements
    chest - waist - hips
    34 - 35 - 38

I gained aload of weight after having a baby. My weight just shot up really quick. I was only 100 pounds. I was really slim and just naturally skinny. When I was pregnant towards the end of my pregnancy I got really big and my weight reached to 160 pounds. Since after having my baby I slimmed down to 130 pounds. Now everyone as been saying I look alot curvier and I look better for it but a few people have recently commented I look a bit chubby since I had my child but when I look in the mirror I think I look slim. The only part of my body that looks chubby to me is my waist. As I have a chubby belly with loose excess skin left over from when I was pregnant. I been told I should lose weight or work out to tone up and try shift it but I don't want to as I want to get a tummy tuck as I have some stretch marks across my tummy aswell as loose skin and want to remove it. I dont wanna lose weight anywere else on my body. I'm really happy with my new curves. The only thing that looks ugly on my body is my tummy. I just want to lose the weight on my stomach area and I thinking a tummy tuck would be the best option. My family say I shouldn't get a tummy tuck as that is risky and that I should just tone up and lose weight but the problem is I don't wanna lose weight anywere else on my body and wouldn't a tummy tuck not only get rid of the fat on my tummy but also the stretch marks. What do you think?

Should I lose weight and try to tone up?
Or should I get a tummy tuck?
Is a tummy tuck really risky?
Could I combine a tummy tuck with breast implants?

I don't really need breast implants as I'm naturally big busted I was a C cup before I had my child I am now a D cup but since I had my baby not only they gone up a size they look like they sagging a little bit. They sag when I ain't go no bra on which I don't like so thought I would get implants and just go maybe one size up so they will be big and uplifted nice and round.

I been told in cosmetic surgery they do mummy makeovers where they combine tummy tuck with breast implants plus you get a cut of the price knocked off when you combine surgerys!!

I know i'm a pretty girl. I just want to be confident in my body and get rid of my flabby scarred tummy and sagging breasts? I will feel so much better for it and I'll be able to start enjoying my youth again such as going the beach and clubbing with confidence instead of trying hide my body.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi Angel,

You don't say how long ago you had your baby - but if it was less than 18 months ago don't panic! It will take that long for your body to get back to normal, so there's plenty of time for your tummy to get back into shape. I'm not going to pretend it will ever be exactly as it was before, but it will tone up with sensible diet, exercise and time.

As for your breasts - seriously - don't touch them! :) ALL natural D cup breasts will drop a little without a bra - that doesn't mean they're saggy or unattractive - it's just the perfectly normal and lovely shape of larger natural breasts. If you want to wear tops or dresses without a bra, unless they really have gone south in a big way just do it - it can still look fab, they don't have to be under your chin to look good I promise you! :)

The suggestion to start running is a good one - it will help shift remaining baby fat and will generally tone you up. If your tummy is still getting you down say 2 years after birth and you don't plan on having more children then by all means ask your doctor to suggest someone you could talk to, but I would be optimistic that with excercise it can be improved to the point where you're happy with it. And as I say - forget breast surgery - seriously not an attractive option! So - in short - save your money, get running, and spend it on fabulous clothes instead! Keep smiling! :)
