Recovery From Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation recovery approaches have advanced just as much as the procedure has over the past decade. It used to be that breast augmentation recovery was taxing, with outdated patient comforts and a limited range of aids to improve outcomes through healthy recoveries. Today, breast augmentation patients can choose from respite services that provide a nurse for the first few days following breast augmentation. Even, traveling patients to Dr. Blau's office can feel more at home at hotels that Dr. Blau refers them to through more improved recovery aids than offered in years past. Indeed, breast augmentation recovery today can provide better aids to reduce side effects associated with breast augmentation and before you know it the side effects will be long gone, including:

Breast Augmentation Garments: Following breast augmentation, the breasts may feel hardened, malformed, and rest very high on the chest wall. For this reason, breast augmentation garments are used to create the most natural feel, shape and location of the breasts on the chest. In addition, breast augmentation garments reduce swelling that is associated with breast augmentation recovery. The traditional type of breast compression garment that has been used is a reinforced garment that is required to be worn 24 hours a day for two or more week's time. Today, breast augmentation patients can choose from breast augmentation vests, bandeaus, wraps, foam garments, and bras to have the most comfortable recovery period throughout every stage in the recovery of the breast augmentation.

Breast Augmentation Anti-Nausea Medication: Nausea may occur following breast augmentation surgery and throughout the recovery period. Today, plastic surgeons take precautions to reduce the risk of nausea after breast augmentation. They may advise or use medication prior to the procedure and recommend the use of prescription medications such as Benedryl, Zofran, Decadron or Phenegran following breast augmentation.

Breast Augmentation Mouistrizers: After breast augmentation surgery, breasts may appear to be discolored, reddened, shiny or produce stinging sensations. This is because breast implants stretch the skin and until the breasts get used to the stretch over the first 10 days or so, some of the described symptoms may occur. Now, breast augmentation patients can find relief in select moisturizers that can reduce the side effects during the recovery period.

Breast Nipple Anti-Sensitivity Aids: In some cases, the nipples remain erect and/or are sensitive during the recovery period. Today's nursing pads and round band aids offer a means to protect the nipples from temporary sensitivity.

Breast Augmentation Healing Aids: Though all medications, vitamins and natural healing remedies used prior to surgery and during recovery must be approved by the plastic surgeon that is performing the procedure, there are a few natural healing remedies that have passed the test of time to leverage a better overall recovery period. Arnica Montana can improve swelling. Bromelain can reduce swelling and decrease pain. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that speeds up the recovery period. Vitamin A thwarts off infection. Selinium may be used with other compounds to reduce the recovery time period. However, the use of any of the described healing aids should be discussed with Dr. Blau at least two weeks prior to the procedure.

Breast Augmentation Scar Aids: The development of scars depends upon a variety of factors, including heredity and protective measures that are taken for the incision such as staying out of the sun during recovery and using SPF 15 or greater thereafter. Initially, scars may appear reddened or raised. They will fade and flatten over time. The extent of scarring can be reduced through medical assistance, including: surgical paper tape used at the start of recovery, steri-strips or silicone sheeting at the second phase of recovery, and perhaps, topical gels that can be continued for up to a year post surgery. It may be worthwhile to take Vitamin E orally, but it should not be applied to the incision. It is important to note that the use of Vitamin E and other scar reduction products should be reviewed with Dr. Blau prior to the breast augmentation procedure. Vitamin and supplements may affect blood clotting which may result in a complication and longer recovery time period.

Bed Rest Support: Bed rest that is required following breast augmentation can be made more comfortable through leg wedges and special head pillows. Elevation of the legs following breast augmentation is often required to improve blood flow and circulation while at bed rest. Leg wedges are pillows that are in the shape of an appropriately degreed incline to provide the right lift for the legs. Special pillows that are king size can be propped up to offer greater comfort and helps to improve the outcome of the procedure.

Breast Cold Compress: Cold compresses offered today helps to improve swelling and enhances the recovery period.

Breast augmentation recovery usually takes up two weeks time. During this time period, patients are advised to refrain from activities that would put undue pressure on the breasts and exercise may not be performed for a month of more following the procedure. In addition, Dr. Blau will have specific instructions for breast augmentation patients that are related to the individualized approach of the procedure.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
how long should I expect for recovery from a breast augmentation surgery?

    • ANSWER:
I was back to work in about a week (an office job). My surgeon said I could have returned in about 3 days, but most women take off a week. I got very fatigue quite easily the first week. You can drive by the 3rd or 4th day. I couldnt wear a regular bra for about 4 weeks. I couldnt go swimming for 10 weeks. You can do any heavy lifting for 2 weeks and no physical excercise for about 3 or 4 weeks. You can't get your heart rate up at all. And your breasts continue to change for the next few months. Their final "look" wont appear for about a year. It's a really long process.

  2. QUESTION:
I need advice for recovery from breast augmentation.?
I had a breast enhancement a week ago and I'm still in tremendous pain. I am bruised down one side (even into the groin area), am very swollen, and even though I'm taking Hydrocodone, it does not seem that I'm getting much better. How long will this go on. I know I have a really low threshold for pain, but I had no idea this would be this bad. I am miserable! I was back to work after 4 days and I just count the minutes till I can come home, take a hot bath and go to bed. HELP!!!!

    • ANSWER:
see your doctor..i doubt it is supposed to bruise all the way to your groin..
but i've never done it so i really wouldn't know...but if the pain meds aren't working..talk to your dr..

  3. QUESTION:
What is the typical recovery time after breast augmentation surgery? Time away from work, exercise, etc?
I am curious as to how much time I would be off from work or the gym if I had this done.

    • ANSWER:
Your surgeon will take the stitches out in a week to 10 days, but your breasts may be swollen for the next three to five weeks. Your scars will be noticable for several months but will eventually begin to fade.

Your surgeon will give you some instructions such as not to lift your arms, or not to push, pull, or carry heavy objects.Follow your surgeon's advice on when to begin exercises and normal activities. You should avoid direct physical contact since your breasts will probably be sensitive for two to three weeks.

  4. QUESTION:
What does it feel like when you first wake up from breast augmentation? I'm 17 years old I'm turning 18 next m?
What does it feel like when you first wake up from breast augmentation?
I'm 17 years old I'm turning 18 next month. my body is b36-24-39 5'3 110 pounds im a little chubby and most of my fat goes to my bum and thighs I don't really have that much breast
I want to get implants next month around my 18 birthday my parents both completely support the idea
I want to be a small d or a full c but im not sure what size would fit my figure more? and also for the laides that have had this surgery what does it feel like when you first wake up? and how long until you fully recovery and the pain goes away? is it extremely painful? i have a low tolerance for pain so im nervous about the pain and i have asma while that get in the way? i feel like itll make it harder for me to breath

    • ANSWER:
I had sub-muscular saline breast implants with incisions beneath my breasts last year when I was 19, and I am roughly your size. I couldn't fit an A cup before my surgery and am now a full B.

I am happy with my implants; before getting them, I couldn't stand the sight of my almost totally flat chest. I feel much sexier now even though I don't wear revealing clothes and consider myself a pretty conservative person. My family and boyfriend respect my decision and wanted me to do whatever would make me happy with my body. There have been a few drawbacks, though. Here are the ones I've experienced:

      1. Stretch marks. I started getting these about 2 months after my procedure. They are initially red and then turn white after several months. I was worried at first, but after using Mederma Stretch Mark Therapy and getting V-beam laser, they disappeared. It is important to treat them in their red stage like I did because once they're white, there is little you can do about them.

      2. Partial numbness of my breasts. I now have all feeling in my nipples (which I didn't at first), but there are areas on my breasts that do not have complete feeling. It has been a year, and although much of my breasts have feeling, there are patches that are a bit numb.

      3. As with any implant, my breasts are not as soft and squishy as natural breasts, but I still wouldn't consider them hard. They are slightly firmer than natural breasts, but this doesn't bother me too much. I have to do exercises with them daily to keep scar tissue from making them firm.

      4. Short scars beneath my breasts. Luckily, these are inconspicuous. My left scar is white now, but my white one is still partially red. I continue to put Vitamin E cream on them, like I have been doing almost every night since my surgery.

I would suggest going as conservative as possible, especially since you're not tall and don't weigh very much. Even with a B cup, my skin was stretched enough to produce stretch marks. The pain after my surgery was very great (even though I only went up about a cup-and-a-half), mainly when I had to go from a lying-down position to a sitting-up position. It's scary to imagine how things would have proceeded had I gone with a C or D cup! I had a really cruel nurse who wouldn't support me as I tried to sit up. Make sure you have a kind person looking after you. The intensity of the pain lessens substantially after about 3-4 days. In the grand scheme of things, this is a very short amount of time.

I do not think your asthma will have any negative impact on your recovery or final results. Inform your doctor, though, just to be safe.

When you first wake up, it's just like any other surgery... you feel groggy, as though you've just woken up from a nap. A nurse tells you it's over, and you are removed from a table and wheeled from the surgical center into a car. Your breasts swell quite substantially and are not initially a true indication of your actual size. This part is very non-traumatic.

I hope this helps... I tried to give an honest account of my experience. Good luck with things!

My good friend said it felt like being filleted alive. Took several months to be totally pain-free.

Did you read the news article a couple days ago on Yahoo about BA surgery? Hundreds of comments, mostly from guys, the big majority of them said don't do it - they like them natural.

So I would go into this very, very carefully. You are doing the right thing by first asking lots of people.

  8. QUESTION:
Advice about Breast Augmentation from people who have had it done?
Hi, I'm 20 years old about to be a junior in college and I am considering getting a breast augmentation. I am 5'8, 130 lbs and literally have no boobs, 32 AA. Having a flat chest makes me very self conscious and I feel like it holds me back from being myself a lot of the time. This is an issue especially around guys. I have a pretty face, so I know that's not the issue, but I've never had a bf (I've "dated" a guys but never serious) and if I had boobs I would be more confident in myself. I would only get a full B so it would look natural, but I am a nervous person, so obviously going under the knife worries me. I've had a consultation but everything was so fast I still have a few questions and I'd love if you could answer!

    1. How long was the recovery process for you? I am going back to school June 10th, and I'd be getting it done around May 20th. Does that give me enough time to recover?

    2. After how long could you start doing cardio (walking, jogging)?

    3. Can you still breast-feed after having surgery?

    4. I am worried since I don't have a lot of breast tissue how it would look/feel... Does an implant feel somewhat like a natural breast at all?

    5. Are you happy with your decision?

    Thanks!!

    • ANSWER:
      1. Yes. I went back to my normal routine within a week.
      2. A few weeks. I started back after two weeks.
      3. Don't know. Don't care.
      4. You get used to it. I had high profile implants, which are designed to look a little fake so I can feel mine if I know where to grab specifically, but most men cannot tell unless I tell them where to grab.
      5. I love my results. I went from a 32B to a 32DD.

What is it like to wake up from anesthesia after having a breast augmentation?
I'm having this done on wednesday and I am terrified of the extreme pain that will come with adding 500cc implants into my B sized breasts. I hear its like you cant breathe. Any suggestions on how to get through recovery would also be appreciated. Also how bad are the "displacement exercises" the day after. I have a 24 post op apt. and the thought of him moving the implant 24 hours after he cut into me doesn't sound pleasant.

  12. QUESTION:
    How painful is breast augmentation?
I was considering getting saline breast implants under the muscle and would love to hear about recovery from anyone who's had this done. They're not cutting the muscle but separating the muscle fibers. Can I be back to work in 5 days without lifting? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I had breast augmentation 5 years ago, it feels like a mack truck smashed into you the first day....but all that goes away the next day. It's amazing how fast your body heals after major surgery. If this is something you really want, you'll do it no matter what. The "after" results far outweigh the pain anyday! Choose the right doctor, one who will consult for free, show many before and after pics, and one who takes the time to really talk and LISTEN to you. My consult was 2 hours and no pressuring what-so-ever! Good luck.
PS. By the way, I was out of work 5 days, but shopping at the mall after 3 days!

  13. QUESTION:
    Recovery time for Breast Augmentation?
Hi, I have had 340cc over muscle (silicone cohesive gel), gone from a/b to full c cup.
Only a week post op so far, still very sore, swollen and tender. Anyone had similar, im wondering how long it takes approx for swelling to go down and to start feeling normal again!!! i know it differs from person to person but due to return to work in another 2 weeks and am now wondering whether they are still going to be as 'stuck on' in 2 weeks time. Can they drop a bit in that time? Ive looked at websites but most women on them seemed to have very large implants and a lot of them under muscle, and the consultant and surgeon were a bit vague about this as unwilling to commit which is fair enough i suppose.
If anyone is willing to share their experience i would be very grateful!
    BTW i used Transform

    • ANSWER:
I got pretty large implants on top of the muscle. I cant remember how long it took for the swelling to go down but you should be able to return to work in 2 weeks, your surgeon should have been able to tell you when you can go back to work. If you are still too sore then I would contact the nurse from where you got the surgery, cos I think 3 weeks after the surgery should be plenty of time to get back to normal.

Congratulations on your new boobs! :)

  14. QUESTION:
    Breast augmentation personal stories?
I am planning on getting a breast augmentation summer of next year. I would love to hear any words of advice or testimonials from women who have had this procedure done, especially concerning recovery time and things done to ease the discomfort following surgery. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
Do your research, speak to someone who has been to that doctor, and check into what type of procedure you would would work better for your body type. Example: implant placed over or under the muscle, enter thru belly button, nipple, armpit or under breast line etc..... I've had mine done & I am very happy with them. Go to a consultation & ask the doctor all the questions. He/She will be honest with you & listen to the doctor....not people. Recovery depends on your body (immune system) and what procedure you have done. Normally, recovery is about 1-2 weeks. No lifting for couple of weeks. You will be surprised how often you use your chest muscles. My implants are over the muscle...the implant placed under the muslce tends to be more painful. Also, when they enter thru the armpit, nipple or belly button....it requires more cutting and you do have a better chance of damaged nerves. My cuts are under the breast line and you can't even see them. No sensitivity lost at all. Good luck.

  15. QUESTION:
    Tummy Tuck recovery?
I'm looking for Real World examples of Recovery times from tummy tuck and breast augmentation surgery not what they put in the pamplets. How long does it REALLY take to recover and how painful is it?

    • ANSWER:
I met a lady when I went for the consultation that was still recovering 4 months after. Certain things she couldn't do and she didn't have her breast done.

Skin is the largest organ on the body so it takes a while to heal.

  16. QUESTION:
Would a plastic surgeon (not my surgeon) examine my breast augmentation 10 days post op if I'm concerned?
The plastic surgeon I went to is 3 hours away from where I'm at and I won't be able to make it down there for a few weeks. However, I'm concerned with my right breast because I'm experiencing a lot of discomfort. I know I'm still in recovery but I would rather be safe than sorry! Also, I'm not sure if I'm massaging properly and I would like to speak to a plastic surgeon about that as well.
If so - any idea about the cost?

  17. QUESTION:
tenderness and pressure 4 weeks after breast augmentation and mastopexy?
I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.
I got my breast augmentation almost 4 weeks ago (under the muscle), and my recovery was amazing I felt very little pain for the first 3 weeks, but I seem to be getting more and more tender every day..I have been relating this to getting feeling back a little every day so that didn't worry me. But then I got the flu yesterday and was throwing up profusely and today my left breast feels more tender it's a little lower than my right and every time I move or do anything it feels like a lot of pressure on it, and I also noticed i can move the implant around a little. I dont feel like it's an emergency or anything just wanted opinions, and also my surgeon wasn't in today nor was his assistant so I wont get any answers from them today.

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like an infection. Mine had the same pressure sort of feeling but across both breasts. As for the drop feeling there meant to do that over time but i don't think its good for that to happen straight away.
I'd see your surgeon as soon as you can.
      Hope all goes well :)

  18. QUESTION:
Tell me about your breast augmentation?

  19. QUESTION:
If you've ever had a breast augmentation?
I'm hoping to get a breast augmentation done in about 3 weeks. I've done a LOT of research about it but I just want to know from women who have done it. I know everything from pain to healing time varies from person to person but I would like to know your personal answers. Serious answers only please.

    1. How long ago did you have it done?
    2. How old were you?
    3. Did you get saline or silicone?
    4. Under the muscle?
    5. How many days passed until you went back to work?
    6. What hurt the most during your recovery period? (ex: arms, groin)
    7. How much did you pay?
    8. Were you happy with the results
    9. What size were you before and after?
    10. Anything else you would like to add?

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
      1. Almost 2 years ago, May of 2006.
      2. I was 21 years old.
      3. Saline, 425 cc
      4. Under the muscle, transaxillary
      5. 14 days for light work, one month before I felt normal.
      6. Taking the bra off, gravity was pulling down on my breasts and they hurt so bad, it felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest
      7. 00
      8. Very happy, it was worth the pain and money
      9. 34 small B before and 34 large D after
      10. It is totally worth it. Make sure your surgeon is board certified and reputable. Choose an incision and size that will be proportionate and work for you lifestyle. Do not worry about anyone that may judge you or make comments. Love your body and do it for yourself, if others want to judge then they have their own problems. Good luck and enjoy your new boobies!!!!!!!!!!

  20. QUESTION:
Looking for advice about breast augmentation??
I'm 23 years old and have been thinking about getting implants for a long time. I'm 95% sure at this point that I will get it done but I'm interested to find out what other's people's experiences have been. What i'm most worried about is the pain and recovery time...How bad is the pain, what do you do for it, how long until i can be back at work (desk job)? I'm also curious how much a GOOD boob job should cost. I'm just looking for pros and cons from other people who've had this done; any advice is greatly appreciated. Oh and please no lectures....My self-esteem is fine and I'm not expecting it to change my life or anything like that (I wouldn't want it to, I love my life as it is!) I just want to be "normal" (seriously, they are barely As!). Thanks so much!

    • ANSWER:
my best friend just got her breasts done a months days ago, and she looks amazing already! I have natural C cups(sorry to burst your bubble!) , so i've never had plastic surgery but i have seen a lot of people get it.
A good augmentation would cost no more then 10,000$(if it costs more, your overpaying and you shouldn't trust the surgeon) but no less the 4,000$(if it costs less then the surgeon probably isn't very good) anywhere in between is normal though.
The pain is tolerable is what my friend said, but i watched her for the days after her surgery to keep an eye on her, and she took vicodin for the pain, and used icepacks for the swelling and pain.
At first they look huge, but don't be alarmed because they drop and grow together amazingly, its like puberty at high-speed!
You should be back to your job in less then a week, or as little as 3 days.
The only con i can think of is that you can't work out for 2 weeks minimum because the new bloodclots could rupture and need another surgery.
It really depends, but most of the time they're great. I've seen noone who wasn't pleased with there augmented breasts-but on tv you occasionaly see those people that freak out and say the implants ruined ther life-thats a lie-those people had previous illness and they don't talk about it.

you should have no worries, and good luck with the procedure!

  21. QUESTION:
has any tgirls on here undergone Breast augmentation (boob job)?
    Hi girls!

I have been on hormones for a a few months now, but I am only developing baby breasts (although the rest of the body has been great in terms of development).

I am thinking of having a breast job done, but not at any price. I've heard of people going to Thailand and some other countries where they had the surgery done with great success, but that scares me in a way as I've heard of horrific stories too.

To me, health and safety come first. I would therefore be interested to hear from any tgirls who've undergone the operation, whether here in the UK or abroad. Please include the following info in your answer: location, name of doctor, price, results, side effects and recovery period.

    Many thanks in advance

    Sophia xx
Thanks for your advice girls; I think I'm going to wait a little longer before I start thinking about breast enhancement. The good news is that my hormone dose has just been increased by my doctor who said it's always best to start on the lowest dose possible and increase it gradually. This not only enables the body to get used and adapt to the new Ostrogens, but would lead to a more natural physical transformation.

  22. QUESTION:
Advise about liposuction and breast augmentation?
I'm 27, undergoing a total lifestyle change, and am loving it! I eat veggies now and exercise. I have quit smoking and feel like a million bucks! I was at 240lbs and now I'm at 213. My goal is 170lbs (this is a reasonable size for me as I am 5'10" and just a true big boned person).

Once I reach my goal... I have several problem areas that I want to address with liposuction. Areas where exercise and toning can only do so much. Can anyone offer any advise regarding their experiences? I have a consultation with a hotshot surgeon, but what can I really expect as far as changes, recovery, etc.

I am also wanting to go from an A cup to a full C with silicone subpectorally. Anyone familiar with the procedure and recovery?

I'm just looking for words of wisdom from individuals who have experienced this and might have advise.

If you are going to say anything rude or derogatory about my personal choice, please keep it yourself.

    Thanks!!

SERIOUS ANSWERS PLEASE... also, i want two more kids, will this affect anything?
listen up, i'm not on here to read peoples opinions on whether or not I should get implants. You dont like it? its simple, go to another post. People like you (little miss no name, so i'll put a heart) are the type that come on here talking a lot of smack because you have NO LIFE and feel as if your opinion is the only one that matters. Get yourself a life, the only shallow one here is YOU, u dont know me, what i look like, and my reasoning so do me a favor and grow up. The head that needs some counseling is urself... so negative all the time seems like u have ur own issues and unconfident so you need to bash others and their decisions, ur sad and i pity u.

  25. QUESTION:
    Questions about Breast augmentation?
    18. 32A. Extremely unhappy.

I've been told by handfuls of people that my boobs are nonexistent. And I have been made fun of so much for having such small boobs. I can't wear so many nice clothes because they don't stay on me, or they're meant for someone with a bigger chest. So don't give me any nonsense about "love your body` or 'it doesn't matter what others think' because that's a load of bull. Of course it matters.

I've tried doing some research but it gives me all types of answers.
    How much does it cost?
Which is better: Silicone or Saline?
Would 350cc be enough to get me to at least a B cup?
    How long is recovery?
What are the chances of rejection?
Are there any sites that can get me a list of professional and certified doctors with reviews from other patients?
How long does a normal procedure take?
How long do normal implants last for?

    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
try some natural ways to develop your boobs.
massage with olive oil in circular fashion for 30 min daily.
      eat protein rich food.
do not use harmonal birth control pills.

  26. QUESTION:
How much pain after breast lift and augmentation? When should I return to work?
Hi ladies! I have done a lot of research already and have talked to my surgeon but would like some insight from women who have actually had this procedure before I made a definitive decision and put in for time off.

I am having a breast lift and augmentation surgery in April and am wondering the following:

    1) How much pain I should expect (obviously everyone is different but just the opinions of anyone who has had this surgery, both lift AND augmentation together, would be great!). Also, how much help will I need with bathing/moving around; etc (so I can let my fiancee know what he's in for, haha)
    2) When I should realistically return to work after surgery.

Here is some additional info incase it makes a difference....
-The lift and augmentation(implants) will be done at the same time, it is a Bilateral mastopexy with augmentation.
-I am already a small C cup (with slight assymetry which will be corrected) and will be going to a full D cup.
-I have lost a significant amount of weight (115lbs) which is the reason for the lift so I have a good amount of skin and breast tissue, although I'm not sure if this will affect my amount of pain/recovery time.
-Also, my job is relatively sedentary. I am a manager of a home for adults with DD and do mostly administrative work but also need to occasionally assist with hands on work (assiting with dressing residents, giving them showers; etc) and I am worried in case one of my residents bumps into me or tries to grab me or hug me too hard that I will be in a ton of pain or cause damage. I would obviously take it easy for the first month and not do as much physical stuff, but how long should I be worried about someone bumping into me or things like that?

Any intelligent input would be appreciated, thank you!

Not feeling as perky as you’d like to feel in life, and in body? Considered the idea of Breast Enlargement procedures, but couldn’t justify the high prices? Then you’ve come to the right place! As an Elite Cosmetique Member, you can save up to 25% on Breast Augmentation (augmentation mammaplasty) through Elite Cosmetique’s Network of providers!

Breast Augmentation (augmentation mammaplasty) is a procedure to enlarge the breasts with an implant. Important considerations in the augmentation include whether to use saline or cohesive gel implants, the location of the incision, and the size of the implant. Augmentation usually does not correct saggy breasts.

      Average Cost: ,500 to ,000
Procedure Length: 1 to 2 hours
      In/Outpatient: Outpatient
Anaesthesia: General or local with intravenous sedation
Recovery Period: Back to work in 6 to 8 days. Vigorous activities in 3-4 weeks.
Frequency of Treatment: Once based on need or desire for replacement
Duration of Results: At least 10 to 15 years. Breast size and shape may change over time

      Hope this helps!

  27. QUESTION:
Breast Calcifications, need info on surgical biopsy please.?
I had a mammo done almost 2 months ago and they found 2 areas of calcification. They tried to do a needle biopsy but failed. I am suppose to have the surgery done but am scared of how invasive it might be.

I had breast augmentation with lift done 3 years ago and really am not up for any recovery time. I simply can't afford to take off work. Has anyone had this done? How long does it take to recover?

Also wondering if maybe the calcifications could be trauma from my breast lift?

    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
These are questions you should be asking your doctor, not a bunch of people on this site. Calcifications can be malignant and should be evaluated sooner rather than later. It is better to loose a little time from work now, than a lot later if you have to undergo chemo and radiation.

It is possible that you could have the biopsies on a Friday and be back at work on Monday, depending on what type of work you do, but only your doctor can honestly answer this

If you really value your health get it done, if it turns out you have breast cancer, the sooner it is treated the better the outcome and less time lost from work

    Breast enhancement questions?
I'm hoping to get a breast augmentation done in about 3 weeks. I've done a LOT of research about it but I just want to know from women who have done it. I know everything from pain to healing time varies from person to person but I would like to know your personal answers. Serious answers only please.

    2. How old were you?
    3. Did you get saline or silicone?
    4. Under the muscle?
    5. How many days passed until you went back to work?
    6. What hurt the most during your recovery period? (ex: arms, groin)
    7. How much did you pay?
    8. Were you happy with the results
    9. What size were you before and after?
    10. Anything else you would like to add?

  30. QUESTION:
    Fat Grafting?
Can anyone give me some information on fat grafting on lips for lip augmentation? Do they have to harvest fat from somewhere else or something? Also what about breast augmentation that transplants fat into the breasts from other areas of the body? What do those results look like, what's recovery time, pain, scarring, ect? Will getting fat injected into the breast make the breasts sag less like implants would because that's my main problem-sagging? I'd like to go from a c cup to a d/dd cup. Don't post anything about be happy with yourself or c cup breasts are big enough. Just answer my questions. Thanks.
I bit off part off part of my lip a few months ago and it's not going to grow back so I need to get my lip fixed. Also my breasts developed really quickly (I had c cups in elementary school) so they sag badly and I can't go even an hour without wearing a bra. I deserve to have a normal looking body.
That's why I was wondering if fat transplanting into the breasts would stop the sagging as same as implants would.

    • ANSWER:
Love your self! I have extremely full lips but girl! I wear like te smallest bra size they make. Like 28A. But an A is too big!

  31. QUESTION:
Having major plastic surgery......what to expect? Tummy tuck + boob lift and augmentation at same time?
I'm having a tummy tuck, breast lift and augmentation (going up one cup size) done all at the same time.........on the 19th.
Anyone had this done who can tell me what to expect as far as recovery time/pain management/ability to function, etc? I have all the "basic" info from the doc, just looking for opinions from those who have done all 3 procedures at once as far as can I lay in bed and read, can I not even lift my forearms enough to read, can one read on Percocet, etc.............I know I will need help with my 4 year old and keeping him away from me for the first week or so, and other "obvious" things, but I am in online school and I'm taking a break till 4/1. Will this be enough time? Will I be able to lay in bed and read a novel in between?
I have a pretty high pain tolerance and any reference to pain in relation to gastric bypass and/or a c-section would be helpful.
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I have never had any plastic surgery, but I hope you diligently take your pain medication. That sounds like it's going to be a doozy of a recovery.

  32. QUESTION:
Has anyone gone to Thailand for breat enlargement surgery? Anyone gone alone?
Has anyone ever travelled overseas for breast augmentation surgery? Thailand? What was your experience? I am doing it alone, and I'd like to hear from others who recovered alone for the following week. How is the recovery for the following week after the op?
    Many thanks in advance :)

    • ANSWER:
My wife told me to answer this question.

She said that her friend has had breast surgery before, and this is what the friend told her.

You won't feel a thing during the operation because of the sedatives the doctor gives you. You will be in the hospital for 2 days before you can be discharged.

The first week you will hurt real bad.

You won't even be able to walk, but you must to try to walk to balance your body weight. It will be like learning to walk all over again.

The second week you will feel better but it will still hurt.

For a couple of months, after the operation you should not do any kind of carrying or heavy lifting, it will effect your breast implant.

But one thing my wife is concern about is the fact that you are alone, you won't be able to do anything after surgery, therefore not a good idea to be alone!

      Good Luck!!!

  33. QUESTION:
    Breast Implants. What to expect?
I am 18 and have lost 180+ lbs in the past 4 years. I used to have quite large breasts, but since my weight loss I have none and I mean NONE! I am going to get augmentation. I have done the research and I know the risks. I would like some answers from woman who have had augmentation. Some of my questions are. . .
    how bad does it hurt?
    how long was your recovery?
how long did it take for them to drop and soften?
    do they look/feel natural?
    how bad are the scars?
how much did yours cost (the surgeons I've asked have told me vastly different answers. From ,500 to ,000)
are you happy with the results?
any addtional tips that you think might help me.
Any one who reads this and is thinking about critisizing my decision or tellign me I'm too young blah blah blah, don't bother I've already made my decision and no one has the right to judge me for it. I really appreciate any answers anyone can give me.

    • ANSWER:
good for you on your weight loss. these implants are totally justified because you lost them.

please, don't pay less than 5,000 US dollar for a breast augmentation. be sure that your Dr. is board certified and get his background!

my sister in law got a boob job and she said it hurt like he.ll. they told her that she needs to actually move the implants in certain directions (exercises) for a certain amount of time during healing. they told her is is to prevent them hardening in one spot or being lopsided from scar tissues. that was the part she said hurt was moving them after surgery. now they are lovely.

      good luck!

"Where's my bucket and my water?" She asked.

A duke is hunting in a forest with his men-at-arms and servants when he comes upon a tree. Archery targets are painted all over it, and smack in the middle of each is an arrow.

Who is this incredibly fine archer? cries the duke. I must find him.

After continuing through the forest for a few miles, he comes across a small boy carrying a bow and arrow. Eventually the boy admits that it was he who shot the arrows plumb in the center of all the targets.

You didn't just walk up to the targets and hammer the arrows into the middle, did you? asks the duke worriedly.

No my lord. I shot them from 100 paces. I swear it by all that I hold holy.

That is truly astonishing," says the duke. I hereby admit you into my service. But I must ask one favor in return. You must tell me how you came to be such an outstanding shot.

Well, said the boy, first I fire the arrow at the tree, and then I paint the target around it.

The little boy nodded in the affirmative.

"Do you understand that what matters is whether we win together as a team?"

    The little boy nodded yes.

"So," the coach continued, "when a strike is called, or you're out at first, you don't argue or curse or attack the umpire. Do you understand all that?"

    Again the little boy nodded.

    "Good," said the coach.

"Now go over there and explain it to your mother"

    ---------------------------

A couple had two little boys, ages 8 and 10, who were excessively mischievous. They were always getting into trouble and their parents knew that, if any mischief occurred in their town, their sons were probably involved.

They boys' mother heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children, so she asked if he would speak with her boys. The clergyman agreed, but asked to see them individually. So the mother sent her 8-year-old first, in the morning, with the older boy to see the clergyman in the afternoon.

The clergyman, a huge man with a booming voice, sat the younger boy down and asked him sternly, "Where is God?".

They boy's mouth dropped open, but he made no response, sitting there with his mouth hanging open, wide-eyed. So the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God!!?" Again the boy made no attempt to answer. So the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face and bellowed, "WHERE IS GOD!?"

The boy screamed and bolted from the room, ran directly home and dove into his closet, slamming the door behind him. When his older brother found him in the closet, he asked, "What happened?"

The younger brother, gasping for breath, replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time, dude.

    • ANSWER:
Well, I've had them done for a year after breastfeeding and could not be happier. First things first, shop around! Visit different doctors and find out how many procedures they've done and make sure they are board certified. You will have a lot of pain for up to a week, but it can be managed. They will probably give you loritab or something similar. A desk job won't be a problem after a few days, but you will not be able to lift anything heavy for a month. Please get someone to help you the 1st couple of days as lifting your arms and going to the bathroom are difficult. Good luck and don't worry to much about the procedure or what anyone (ehem, feminists) have to say about your reasoning!

I've had friends get breast augmentation and were back to work in about 2 weeks. It is painful and uncomfortable and sometimes takes awhile to get use to. For a good job, I would suggest researching for plastic surgeons in your area. You can expect to pay between 6-10K. Do not bargain with your body. Also keep in mind this is not a 1 time thing. You must replace the implants every 6-7 years. Hope this helps!

  42. QUESTION:
Looking for advice about breast augmentation??
I'm 23 years old and have been thinking about getting implants for a long time. I'm 95% sure at this point that I will get it done but I'm interested to find out what other's people's experiences have been. I had mine done after many years of indecision... and my only "regret" was waiting so long!

Pain was minimal, and easily controlled by medication. I was up and around the same day, it was outpatient surgery, and I was back at my job about 10 days later (I could have gone back sooner but had sick leave to "burn").

Self-esteem, for me, went right thru the roof - I felt (and feel!) amazing about myself, and ended up going on a diet/exercise program that helped me shed 70 pounds. My clothes fit better and I look more like a woman SHOULD look (before, I looked kinda like the androgynous "Pat" character on Saturday Night live... People didn't know whether I was male or female until I spoke!) As a matter of fact, I am thinking about going for an "upgrade" soon, it's been six years since I had the initial surgery, and since I lost the weight, one of my boobs hangs a little 'lower' than the other... so I figure it's time to get them replaced ANYWAYS.
