Not only do patients recover from anesthesia quicker, but there is a lower risk of infection and incisions tend to heal better when patients are not smoking. For those patients who do smoke, your physician should have a lengthy discussion about the effects of smoking prior to surgery. Lastly, for those patients who are having surgery under general anesthesia, your physician should require a complete history and physical and appropriate lab work. Dr. Heck insists that all of his patients receive this pre-operative clearance because it will ensure that there are no hidden medical problems and will significantly reduce the chances of having complications during surgery.

During Surgery

At this point, you are already asleep so the only real factor is making certain that you have chosen the right plastic surgeon. Please see Dr. Robert Heck's article How to Choose a Plastic Surgeon. It is important that your surgeon is Board Certified, well trained, and very experienced with a good safety record. Your physician should make sure that you are protected during surgery for example taking steps to prevent complications such as DVT's (blood clots). Dr. Heck believes finding the right plastic surgeon will put you at ease from beginning to end.

Post Surgery

First and foremost, follow the post-operative instructions given to you by your physician. Dr. Heck provides all of his patients with restrictions on daily activities, exercising, and guidelines on when patients can expect to return to work. Second, remember to stay hydrated. This will improve your overall healing process and keep your kidneys functioning. Third, it is important that you continue to stay mobile after surgery and to increase your activity as instructed by your physician to prevent the formation of blood clots. Dr. Heck will typically place you on post-operative antibiotics to help decrease the risk of developing an infection. You should continue all antibiotics until they are finished as instructed by your physician. Thus by following your activity restrictions, staying hydrated, ambulating, and taking your antibiotics, you should have a healthy and safe post-operative recovery.

Finally, one of the most important factors regarding healthy healing and having a successful plastic surgery experience is communication with your physician and his/her staff. Dr. Heck spends a great deal of time with each patient during their consultation so they have the opportunity to address any questions or concerns and feel comfortable with their decision. It is important that your physician and his/her staff are available for both pre and post-operative questions and get back to you in a timely manner. Dr. Heck feels that it is this open communication and sense of security that decreases patient complications and allows for a safe recovery process.

When you get plastic surgery you are not changing your DNA, so really your traits before and after your surgery don't change.Trait is a term in the field of genetics that refers a specific allele that causes a specific property. Rather you "mask" them. Your children will receive your traits, they would just not be "masked". But if you intended the mean trait as in physical appearance, then the answer to your question would be that they would receive your traits from before your surgery.   I would recommend the jaw surgery first because the plastic surgeon will be better able to refine your face to your new jaw position. It would be very tricky trying to accurately hold your jaw forward while you are under anesthesia for your plastic surgery. Talk to your surgeons about the best timing for the two surgeries. Probably they will recommend that you wait for the swelling to go away from your first surgery before going for the second.

My mum is about to undergo some plastic surgery on her eyes. She told me that her doctor recommended that she take Traumeel (homeopathic treatment) several days before and after surgery. Now I'm not a particularly big expert in medicine but my intuition tells me that when something is dissolved in water to the point that it's hardly there, it won't be effective.
Do you guys think I should be concerned? I mean- is this surgeon qualified to perform surgery if he believes in this sort of highly disputed forms of medicine. Even the homeopathy wikipedia page indicates that maojority of systematic trials prove homeopathic medicine is not more effective than a placebo.
What would you do if your doctor prescribed you a homeopathic treatment? Would you doubt his credibility as a qualified practitioner?

  The surgeons usually make suggestions, that's a big part of their "craft."
  They see specific flaws and envision specifics to make the overall picture better.
  In other words, they see the trees instead of the forest and make recommendations based on their talent.
  
  As for these before and after pictures, they're not entirely fair. They use the worst pics from what the person looked like before (even if it means showing pics of them that wouldn't normally depict what they'd look like in every day life or showing pics of them at a totally different age) and then the best pics of them from after.

  Haha that's a good question ... I guess it really all just depends on the way each persons body works and how the surgery would affect them as time goes on. Usually the surgery would include manipulation of the muscles in the face to get the desired results. I don't know much about it really.

Do you think Giuliana Rancic has had plastic surgery, has it made her look better or worse?
I personally think she has and I think it has ruined her face a bit. I liked the way she looked before, she was naturally pretty. What are your thoughts ? Do you think she looked better before or after the plastic surgery ?

From people I have discussed this with - some said they would because they are now attractive. On the otherhand other people I have talked to said they wouldn't because it is all fake - what is your opinion and would you?

has anyone else noticed how america is obsessed with plastic surgery? i watch all the shows (dr. 90210, plastic surgery before and after, etc...) and i watched the special on vhi about how america is obsessed with it. now if you arent a double d, with a perfectly flat tummy, and the perfect nose, society labels you as ugly! and i saw on dr. 90210 where the girl was already a size 0, and she was going to get lipo! i mean come on! and i saw a girl get a toe shortening surgery. seriously who looks at your toes! and i mean in some cases, yes its helpful. and im not talking about those people its the freaks who think they have to look like sticks with coconuts on them! it sickens me! im just wondering if anyone agrees with me.

  When it comes to vanity issues I do think it is a bit vain to want plastic surgery, but sometimes its necessary (breast reduction or reconstruction, they just lost a ton of weight and have rolls of skin to get rid of).
  
  People don't realize just how airbrushed those models in magazines are. I saw one online a long time ago but the transformation was amazing. She wasn't ugly in the first place, but they made her almost anorexic.

  I've had plastic & reconstructive surgeries. I feel fine and I felt fine before. I'm much better since I've had breast reduction and I breathe much better since I had my nose job. I'm look better and fit better in clothes since my tummy tuck. I've also had upper & lower eyelift and fat removed from my chin. I couldn't care less what others think of me. What counts is what I think. Besides, I've had nothing fake put into me. Happy Valentine's Day. 2D

i want to get a nose job (because of an accident i had which messed it up) and get a chin implant (because i hate my double chin). it's just i don't know what i will look like before getting it done so i'm worried that i might not like the results i get after and regret getting it done. is there a way to see what i will look like before getting surgery done? and if so what are the best plastic surgeons that i could go to, to get it done?

  Ya, When you 1st saw her talking to her mom, she looked horrible and very fake, kinda had a fat face. Maybe it was just swollen still or something, but it's gone down since then and I think her face doesn't even look that different than what it used to. She just looks a little more fake now and she looks old. Her boobs are definitely too big. Ouchh!

How to afford plastic surgery when lm 18 or 20?
l am a super ugly 16yr old girl and my ugliness is destroying my life. it hurts to much being ugly. lm tired of being ignored, rejected, getting dirt looks especially from boys l find attractive. My average day is horrible, lm treated terribly by a lot of people even from people l dont know. l cant stand this treatment anymore. l want a few procedures done on my face like a nose job (my nose is not big, but l want to change the shape of it to make my face more pleasant and live a normal life. lm also considering an eyebrow transplant and maybe jaw surgery.

So far l only have 5 dollars saved up and a good nose job is like 00 dollars. my mom never made an account to save money which lm very angry about. she said would make it but never did. the thing l dont know how lm going to afford college and plastic surgery at the same time. l really want plastic surgery, l want to be beautiful more than anything. l have been put down my appearance my whole my many nasty people and l cant cope with it much longer. my face makes me want to vomit l cant stand it. Do you know some ways to afford plastic surgery? is there a way l can get a loan? do you think saving at least ,000 dollars would take a long time? do you know any tips to make and save money fast? lm very anxious about being in public because of my awful appearance, and finding a job is very hard for me.

I have a bigger than average nose and have been thinking of getting plastic surgery. But before I do and look into it any further, I have some questions:
- does it hurt
- what happens? During surgery
- what/ how much medication would I be on?
- what do I have to do after surgery??

  The cartilages and bones on the inside of the nose are cut and manipulated using scissors , hammer & chissel, rasps and files.
  At the end of the procedure, after the incisions are closed, the nose is dressed, to hold it securely in place as it heals.
  After taping, the metal splint is designed and cut and shaped, and it is placed on the nose.
  Metal nasal splint has been taped on the nose
  The metal splint is then covered with the tape, to hold it in place The dressing will be removed in one week.

I am an 17-year-old Asian girl.I applied for an American college. I want a plastic surgery in the US which will make me look a lot better and of course very d ifferent right before I go to college. I'm dying for it!
The problem is,after I've done it,where do I go to change the photos on all my IDs? When I applied for a college,it's the old photos I used. Would you please tell me where and how exactly to change these in detail:
1 My files at college.
2 My passport.
Do my old photos have to be kept on file forever?Because I don't want ANYBODY to know that I have a plastic surgery.
Is a lawyer able to help me remove those old photos forever?Will he keep the secret for me and never tell anybody else? Can I totally trust him?

  Contact the State Department and re-submit for a new passport once you have had the surgery. Contact your college and re-submit your photo once the surgery is complete and request that you old picture be returned to you.
  
  Not all that difficuly. The State Department may keep the old picture however it is highly unlikely it would ever be publically released.
