Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
When should the pain after breast augmentation stop?
It's been a year since I got breast augmentation through the armpit and as far as I know everything went well. They look and feel great but every once in a while I receive sharp pains on the inside part of my arm between my armpit and elbow. Is this something I should be concerned about?

    • ANSWER:
i had a breast reduction in oct 2008. for the next year and half, i got stabbing pains in my boobs. as time went on it got less painful and farther in between. every now and then i might feel a little something now, but it goes away in seconds.

  2. QUESTION:
Could anyone tell me how bad the pain is after breast augmentation surgery?
I'm scheduled for implant surgery and was wondering if anyone that has gotten this done before can tell me about the pain. Thanks :)

    • ANSWER:
It's not bad. I have four friends who have done it and it's pretty mild. You must do the massages as instructed or the tissue will become very hard. The three that followed instructions did extremely well.

  3. QUESTION:
    Pain after breast augmentation?
I know the level of pain varies from person to person, but I would like to hear from personal accounts of how bad it was for you.

    • ANSWER:
I had breast implants so I, can relate to how painful your surgery may have been. I have a high tolerance to pain but, wow, I didn't expect my surgery to be so painful. I actually regretted having it done because of the pain. Breast tissue is sensitive anyway so that's probably why it hurt so much. Thank God for " happy pills". True, each person experiences different levels of pain. It seems as though your surgery was quite painful as well. But, for me, I'm glad that I had the surgery and pleased with the results. I hope that you feel the same way.

  4. QUESTION:
    severe pain after breast augmentation?
had a breast augmentation on Tuesday and now the pain is unbearable. My right breast is swollen on the top (way more than the left breast) along with bruising. It feels like sharp pains shooting through the side of boob, under my right arm, and to the nipple. Sometimes it feels like I'm ripping on the inside. I can't make any arm movements at all on my right arm. The vicodin that was given to me is not helping with the pain. I'm going to call my doctor when the office opens this morning, but has anyone been through this before or have any idea what could be going on?
    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
know something about this pain you well have but the meds are suppose to help call the doc.

I got breast surgery for medical purposes, not to enhance the size of my breasts. I really don't owe anyone an explanation. If you can't help then don't answer the question.

    • ANSWER:
The pain meds should have been able to give you comfort. Something is definitely wrong if you can't even move your arm because you're in day three right? It sounds to me like you may have some bleeding. Call your doctor right away. If you let this go for any longer, you may have to go back into surgery and that is no bueno my friend.

  6. QUESTION:
pain after breast augmentation. Someone help!?
I had breast implants done about 6 months ago. I have been feeling these cold/hot tingling sensation in different spots of my chest, followed by annoying pain, for the last 3 days. Anybody ever shared the same experience? Is that normal or should I be alarmed? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I have had mine done. It has been about 8 months and I have awkward little twinges every once in a while. Your nerves have to reconnect. I suggest you call the doc. I did, i went in and got checked. he did not find anything wrong but he told me to always call if something did not feel right. You know your body--trust your gut.

  7. QUESTION:
Pain after breast augmentation (Women only please)?
My friend got hers done in January, she was in a lot of pain, I got mine done Yesterday! but I'm not experiencing as much pain as I was told. Could it be that i'm much pain tolerant? even the nurse when I woke up after the procedure said I was very strong since I was ok in the recovery room.
Day 2, what should expect? is this when I start hurting?
Girls with same situation please let me know what your experience was like
Linda: I went over the muscle too, didn't want it under for that very same reason, much more pain n healin time.
I also can not sleep! I think it might be because I'm so excited I can't wait to see the results! K thx!

    • ANSWER:
Everyone is different, so don't worry if you don't feel as much discomfort as your friend. I found I was the most sore about three days to ten days after, until the worst of the bruising cleared up. There was a bit of tenderness for a couple weeks after, I wore a bra to bed for a few weeks so they wouldn't be quite so tender. I don't wear a bra for sleep anymore. Did you get your implants over the muscles? Over the muscle is far less painful than implants under the muscle. Mine were over the muscles and I had very little trouble. If you don't feel a lot of soreness and discomfort, then don't fret, it means that you had a very good doctor. (do you get migraines? I've heard people who get migraines are far more pain tolerant than those who don't get migraines.) I'm very happy with my two new friends and I don't regret having the procedure at all.

  8. QUESTION:

any reccomendations on doctors in lafayette indiana?

    • ANSWER:
First let me say good luck to you and congratulations.
I'm having this procedure soon too. I know alot of people who have had it already. Most of the time the next 2 or 3 days after surgery are rough but it doesn't take long for you to be able to fend for yourself. My cousin just had hers done on a Thursday and Monday morning she returned to work. (office job)

  10. QUESTION:
How much pain after breast lift and augmentation? When should I return to work?
Hi ladies! I have done a lot of research already and have talked to my surgeon but would like some insight from women who have actually had this procedure before I made a definitive decision and put in for time off.

I am having a breast lift and augmentation surgery in April and am wondering the following:

    1) How much pain I should expect (obviously everyone is different but just the opinions of anyone who has had this surgery, both lift AND augmentation together, would be great!). Also, how much help will I need with bathing/moving around; etc (so I can let my fiancee know what he's in for, haha)
    2) When I should realistically return to work after surgery.

Here is some additional info incase it makes a difference....
-The lift and augmentation(implants) will be done at the same time, it is a Bilateral mastopexy with augmentation.
-I am already a small C cup (with slight assymetry which will be corrected) and will be going to a full D cup.
-I have lost a significant amount of weight (115lbs) which is the reason for the lift so I have a good amount of skin and breast tissue, although I'm not sure if this will affect my amount of pain/recovery time.
-Also, my job is relatively sedentary. I am a manager of a home for adults with DD and do mostly administrative work but also need to occasionally assist with hands on work (assiting with dressing residents, giving them showers; etc) and I am worried in case one of my residents bumps into me or tries to grab me or hug me too hard that I will be in a ton of pain or cause damage. I would obviously take it easy for the first month and not do as much physical stuff, but how long should I be worried about someone bumping into me or things like that?

Any intelligent input would be appreciated, thank you!

  11. QUESTION:
can somone let me know what the pain is like after breast augmentation?
i have very little pain barrier and just want to know how any one couped with this

    • ANSWER:
I have seen many augmentation procedures on TV, and know every ones experience is different, from horribly painful to not at all. I can't remember the name of the show but the doctors name is Dr. Ray, he's in Beverly Hills. He specializes in augmentations and he goes in through the bellybutton, his patients all range from very painful recovery to not so bad. His technique where he uses a long tool and jabs through all the fat and tissue in between the muscle and skin, from the bellybutton to the breastpocket. Is more painful post-op then if they insert the implant close to the pocket, because of all the trauma loosening the skin up from the muscle on your entire abdomen. He swears by it though because there will never be a scar, the bellybutton is the incision site. Anyway on those shows some people have a very high pain threshold and others don't. I bet the ones who have given birth are the ones who for sure don't consider it to be that bad.

Goodluck!! Just think; the pain will go away, the boobies are here to stay!

  12. QUESTION:
what is the pain like after you have gotten a breast augmentation?
what is the pain like after you have gotten a breast augmentation? anyone whos had this done please tell me your stories.

    • ANSWER:
For me, it wasn't too terrible but this also depends on the kind of incision you get, how big the implants are, and if they are placed behind or in front of the pectoral muscle.

I had an areolar incision on both breasts, implants of about 200 cc's, and they were placed behind the muscle. It just felt like a large pressure pressing on my chest for about a week or so, and I really only experienced pain for a few days. It was entirely manageable with pain medication. I was back to work within a week without a problem. It's pretty strange to get used to them at first!

      Hope this helps!

  13. QUESTION:
how much pain were you in after your breast augmentation?
Hi, I'm having my boobs done next week. just wanted to know how much pain people were in when they got it done and for how long? my surgeon said it can vary with people, my mum has had hers done to and my grandma and aunty (as in our family theres is no breast development at all) they both said it only hurt a little bit, yet my aunty said hers hurt ALOT.
    so what about you ladies?

    • ANSWER:
I had mine done about 6 months ago with a incision in my armpit and the implant placed under the muscle ( which is more painful). The first 2-3 days are very painful, you have to wear a very tight strap which holds the implant in place. I found that my chest muscles felt very sore and tight, like the feeling when you have a crap in you muscle, but constantly! But time heals all wounds and you will be feeling 100% in no time!

  14. QUESTION:
I don't have pain but discomfort in my right breast after my breast augmentation 10 days ago. Is this normal?
My implant was 400 cc. My recovery has been incredibly easy and hardly painful at all. At first my right breast was harder and swollen more but the doctor said that was normal. I've been massaging but that also makes my right breast more sore. It's still harder than the left and I almost feel like the implant is pushing down as opposed to my left breast where it seems to be staying in the middle of my breast.

    • ANSWER:

  15. QUESTION:
can swelling after breast augmentation occur again after the swelling had gone down?
I had a breast augmentation almost 4 weeks ago and everything was fine post op. After the third week, I noticed that my swelling had gone down a bit. Although my right breast was slightly bigger than my left, but I knew that it was normal until about several days later, I woke up and noticed that my left breast had now gotten slightly bigger than my right. It just felt a lil bit heavier. The next morning, I was doing my routine massages and felt pain on the side of my left breast but it only hurts when I touched it. I called my PA and told me it was normal and said for me to take any anti-inflammatory drugs (advil, motrin etc.) i haven't taken it yet because the pain has subsided and I am concern that I might have hematoma and don't want to take advil etc for it will worsen it. Do you think I have some kind of a complication or is this a normal healing process? it's just strange to me that I have swelling again after it's gone down a lil bit.

    • ANSWER:
You are right to be concerned, I mean, after the swelling starts getting down it should improve, but taking in count that this process usually takes about 6 weeks. I think your surgeon should evaluate you, ask for an appointment, anyhow he or she should reevaluate you after the procedure periodically for some time. Here you can read a bit more about complications in breast augmentation and try to compare if have any alarm sign http://www.aestheticandplastic.com/procedures/augmentation-mammoplasty.html

      Best luck :)

  16. QUESTION:
what activities can I do after breast augmentation?
when can i lift light items, wash my hair myself, wash dishes??? its been 4 days since I had a breast lift and silicone implants. What about pain, how much longer? Is it normal for one to hurt more than the other?

    • ANSWER:
Like any other surgery, there is pain to follow the procedure. It is wise though to give yourself and plan for the time that it will take to heal. While you can return to work after a few days, there will still be discomfort. You are encouraged to not touch your breasts or allow them to be touched following the surgery as they still will be tender and painful.

  17. QUESTION:
Is bruising normal after a breast augmentation?
I had mine done about 11 days ago. At first there was hardly any bruising, but now, the underside of each breast is bruised. I am not experiencing any pain and have been off pain meds since a week after surgery. did anyone else experience this?

    • ANSWER:
Good for you! The bruising is normal. Have you ever seen someone after a face lift? They look like someone beat them up. I just had some surgery on my back and around the incision it was bruised. The doctor will check when you go back for your follow up. As long as the suture line isn't weeping, and you are not running a fever, it is probably just post operation bruising. This was trauma to your body, and you need to heal. Good luck, and enjoy your new figure.

  18. QUESTION:
How bad do you feel after breast augmentation?
I am getting inplants in 6 Days...what kind of pain should I expect?

I want some new ones 2!!

  21. QUESTION:
How long does it take to heal completly after a breast augmentation?
I HAD A BREAST AUGMENTATION THIS PAST MONDAY. THEY SAID I SHOULD BE FINE ON THE THIRD DAY. TODAY IS THE FORTH DAY AND I'M STILL IN PAIN

    • ANSWER:

  22. QUESTION:
Are some days worse than others following breast augmentation with regards to pain?
My g/f recently had breast augmentation (Thursday) the 21st and then had to have emergency surgery Friday the 22nd to drain a hematoma that she had as a result of her initial surgery. She had sub-muscular implant surgery. Today, her 4th day after the second surgery, her pain has been a bit more intense than the previous days......It is still tolerable though. Are some days worse than others or should her pain get better every day?

    • ANSWER:
I had breast implants put in last July. I can tell you that I was in a lot of pain for the first week and it does seem like the first three to four days are the worst. My advice to her would be to get plenty of rest and try not to become active to soon. Her pain will begin to get better as the days go on...I promise. Tell her to hang in there and she will eventually love what she has done, even though it doesnt seem that way now. Also, look for signs of depression that could be coming soon. My doc told me it was normal and that most women begin feeling down about a week or so after. I hope this helps =) She is lucky to have such a supportive boyfriend!

  23. QUESTION:
What is it like to wake up from anesthesia after having a breast augmentation?
I'm having this done on wednesday and I am terrified of the extreme pain that will come with adding 500cc implants into my B sized breasts. I hear its like you cant breathe. Any suggestions on how to get through recovery would also be appreciated. Also how bad are the "displacement exercises" the day after. I have a 24 post op apt. and the thought of him moving the implant 24 hours after he cut into me doesn't sound pleasant.

    • ANSWER:

  24. QUESTION:
Is it normal to have pain and one breast bigger over 1cup than the other after 4 months from implants surgery?
I had a breast augmentation 4 months ago. My left breast is still bigger that the other breast. My doctor had told me that after a few months they would be close to the same size. After 4 months the left breast still bigger than the right one and I fell neddle like pain on it. Is it normal to still fell pain after 4 months? Will my breast be more semetrical after a few months? I had my surgery done in Brazil with a very good doctor that was recommended from my mother who had many surgeries done with him and also some cousins that also live here in the US.

    • ANSWER:
The nerves in your breasts are stretched after an augmentation and can become pinched or irritated. Try sleeping propped up on your back.

Asymmetry is normal for the first few months, one breast could be swollen or the other may not have fully dropped.

Your symptoms sound normal but if you are worried, don't hesitate to contact your doctor.

  25. QUESTION:
I want to ask about the recover process after having breast augmentation surgery.?
My surgery date is in a couple wks..and , unfortunately it's over Labor Day wkend : ( and, I know it does depend on the individual and how much pain tolerance they have...but, I'm scared of how painful it may be..I have someone who will be there with me for at least the first 12 hours after the surgery, but I'll be on my own for the most part, being that my boyfriend works nights...I just need to know what to expect, and how I can tolerate the pain cause I'm planning to only take the pain med's at bedtime, since I don't want to be out of it all day. Also, am I able to drive within a day or two?

    • ANSWER:
first of all, you will probably be needing the pain meds more than just at night because as any other operation, it is painful and uncomfortable. you will be sore and swollen and perhaps bruised a bit in your chest area. you will also be bound up with a bandage that wraps around your breasts for a few days, and will have to wear this 'bound' type of bandage for a week or two until your breasts become less swollen. you will not be able to raise your arms above your head for a few weeks, maybe even a month. you should be able to drive physically, but if you find you are using the pain meds more than just at night, you SHOULDNT drive since you could get cited for driving under the influence, so i would be a good judge of how 'messed up' you are from the pain meds before you drive. you may want to try ice packs on your breasts after surgery to help reduce the swelling. you also will need to be careful with showering if you go home with the bandages on, which you more than likely will. youll have to do more like a bath or a bedbath for a few days. you will need to keep the incisions very clean to prevent infection (soap and water is fine). otherwise, you are going to be very uncomofortable and i would suggest laying around the house for a few days, just relaxing and not doing anything too strenuous because it will make you more sore.

  26. QUESTION:
How long did it take you to recover after having a breast augmentation?
how long was it before you were up and around? Feeling no pain? What kind of medicine did your doctor give you?

    • ANSWER:

  27. QUESTION:
Odd Feelings A Year After Breast Augmentation...
I've had my breast implants for almost a year now. I went from a 32A to a 32 small C, Under the muscle, Silicone Gel. I haven't really had any problems that were not normal. But recently my right breast seems harder and my left has a weird pain under it. Not something that is extremely painful but like a twinge. Is this normal. I'm right handed and I do some lifting at work so I think that is why my right breast is hard. But I don't know about the Left, it kind of feels like it's detaching but I don't think this would happen after a year. What could it be with both of my issues for each breast?

  28. QUESTION:
How can I regain sensitivity after breast augmentation (read details below)?
I had breast augmentation surgery a little over a year ago. I went from being between an AA and A in size to a full B. They were inframammary (at breast crease) and subpectoral (beneath the muscle) saline implants. Although my nipples themselves now have normal sensitivity, some areas of my areolas are numb as well as some of the skin on the lower portion of my breasts. When I pinch the skin, I do feel pain; but when I gently touch the skin, there is a definite loss of sensitivity.

Is it likely that this partial numbness is permanent, or is there still time for it to return? How would you suggest I facilitate the healing process if there is still time? For the past week or so, I've been taking Vitamin B complex vitamins and massaging my breasts twice daily. Is there anything else you would suggest I do?

    • ANSWER:
You should talk to your doctor. I think most likely permanent.

  29. QUESTION:
tenderness and pressure 4 weeks after breast augmentation and mastopexy?
I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.
I got my breast augmentation almost 4 weeks ago (under the muscle), and my recovery was amazing I felt very little pain for the first 3 weeks, but I seem to be getting more and more tender every day..I have been relating this to getting feeling back a little every day so that didn't worry me. But then I got the flu yesterday and was throwing up profusely and today my left breast feels more tender it's a little lower than my right and every time I move or do anything it feels like a lot of pressure on it, and I also noticed i can move the implant around a little. I dont feel like it's an emergency or anything just wanted opinions, and also my surgeon wasn't in today nor was his assistant so I wont get any answers from them today.

    • ANSWER:
Sounds like an infection. Mine had the same pressure sort of feeling but across both breasts. As for the drop feeling there meant to do that over time but i don't think its good for that to happen straight away.
I'd see your surgeon as soon as you can.
      Hope all goes well :)

  31. QUESTION:
What is level of pain underwent when having a breast augmentation and/or tummy tuck? Did it hurt pretty bad?
The only surgery I ever had was a c-section, and it tooks weeks to recover from. Although I dont think I will ever have this type of surgery now, I might consider it after my second child (if I every have my 2nd child)....

    • ANSWER:
A tummy tuck that involves shortening the abdominal muscles is much like a C-section. If it is only the skin, then the pain is much less. Breast augmentation is also supposed to be painful in the postoperative period.

  32. QUESTION:
Is this normal 1 month after breast augmentation?
Okay please nobody telling me "shoulda woulda coulda's"

    Anyone with experience: please help

I am 1 month post-op from BA with 600cc high profile under muscle axillary implants. i am right handed and my left one dropped by the right hasnt. the left has a little bit of rippling when i lean forward. Also, can't straighten right arm all the way still and hurts to lift anything even a book. also, have been going to bi-weekly ultrasound treatments and am taking allocate as directed. i have intense pain all the time and it wakes me up hourly throughout the night still. my nipples are so sore i can't even touch them. is there something i can put on them to numb them? when should this stop? should the right one have dropped? is the rippling bad this early? will they even out eventually?

if you have experienced this please let me know

    • ANSWER:
You are ONLY one month post op.

Your breasts need TIME to heal.

Which can take up to a year.

I would talk to your PS as soon as possible if you are very concerned.

  33. QUESTION:
    After having breast implants?
Hello, I'd like to know what the pain & discomfort is like after having a breast augmentation.

How long does it take to heal and what is the scarring like for the various methods?

Also, if you are in Australia, can you please tell me the approx price you paid for your implants.

    • ANSWER:
initial pain is "manageable"... wife did #3 hydromorphone's (dilaudid) which are pretty strong... but in 2-3 days was down to hydrocodone (vicodins)

a month for reasonable healing... enough to "play" and not hurt.

nipple insertion for salines gave minimal scaring...

I'd avoid the under breast incision because it's more noticeable even years later.

  34. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation, after surgery?
I just had implants put in 2 days ago (So they are still VERY FRESH). I'm taking pain medications as well as antibiotics. I also have sleeping pills in case I have trouble falling or staying asleep.

But for those of you out there (doctors, or prior patients, etc) - are there other things I can do to make myself feel better? Can I massage the top of my breasts with lotion? Should I "sorta stretch"? (even my triceps feel really tight)...

    Thanks for your help.

    EG

    • ANSWER:
You need to follow what your doctor told you to do. My PS had be do a series of massage exercises twice a day starting about a week after surgery. I was not able to push myself up out of bed or really do much in the way of using my arms a few days after my surgery.

Your skin will stretch on its own and I would ask your doctor if massaging with lotion is ok before I did it. It is going to take some time for your body to conform to your implants. You are more than likely still pretty swollen especially under your arms and around your stomach. Once the swelling goes down the tightness will gradually go away and your breasts will drop.

It was hard for me to fall and stay asleep in the beginning. You might ask your doctor about this and see if he can prescribe something more affective.

Good luck with your new look. I couldn't be happier with my surgery and the outcome.

  35. QUESTION:

    • ANSWER:

  36. QUESTION:
Has anyone ever had heart palpitations after having a breast augmentation/lift?
I've noticed that ever since my breast augmentation surgery/breast lift surgery 3 years ago, that I have had much more noticeable heart palpitations...They usually come when I am at rest, not while exercising(and I am very active...run 3 miles/day) I can be watching TV or typing on the computer and I will feel a sudden pounding, like flip-flip, in my chest that will take my breath away, but just for a couple seconds and no chest pain or any other symptoms. My implants are under the muscle so I thought maybe that had something to do with them being pushed up against my chest...or making my heartbeat/occasional irregular beats more noticeable?

    • ANSWER:
I doubt the implants did anything. my guess is the stress of surgery, or the anesthetic could be the issue. There have never been any signs linked to what you are having, and the material in implants.

  37. QUESTION:
To any Girl who had a Breast Augmentation pls answer!?
Im 23 and im having a breast augmentation next month. I was wondering if there is any one of you who did this surgery before. I want to know if there is any pain after the surgery and about the recovery? it takes too long to recover?

    • ANSWER:
I had so much pain after it. I could not lift my arms, get dressed, nothing. It felt like I was repeatably hit in the chest with a baseball bat. I had so much trouble getting up from when I was lying down. I could not open or close car doors. I could barely use the bathroom. This lasted for around 3 days, then I could go over friends places & to the shops. I think I waited around 2 weeks to drive again. Within 3 weeks I was back at work.

Everyone has different pain & from what I understand mine was pretty bad compared to some of my friends. It goes away & it is bearable. I will be getting them done again sometime within the next 6 months. ( I had mine done 7 years ago & now I want to go up a size again) The end result makes it worth it. Good luck.

  38. QUESTION:
Breast Augmentation BA, Tummy Tuck TT, Liposuction Lipo. Recovery time for each?
May 15th is my surgery date.
Has anybody had all 3 done at the same time? if so, where is the pain focused on?
BA, TT, Lipo: On a scale of 1-10, 10 being Extremely painful what do you rate it?
Which is the most painful of having all 3 done at the same time?
Breast Augmentation, After the swelling heals how many sizes do they shrink?
TT, when will I be able to stand upright?
Lipo, I heard that this keeps you with no energy for like 2 wks, is this true?
Anybodys feedback would be greatly appreciated. Hope to have a Healthy and Beautiful outcome.

    • ANSWER:
Congrats on your upcoming date!!! I had all 3 done and I'm thrilled!!! OK, I'd say the most pain was with the muscle repair (the incision from the TT doesn't hurt at all, it'll be numb for quite a while). I'd rate my pain at maybe a 3, possibly 4, I've got a high pain tolerance though. You may have a pain pump though, that'll help, but you have to make sure you stay on top of your pain meds too! Well, funny thing about the BA, mine never shrunk. I had saline unders, they've fluffed. I'm several days shy of 7 months out and mine just quit growing (I hope at least), although mine is rare. As for standing straight, it depends on how tight your PS does your muscle repair. Some can stand upright after just several days, it was almost 2 months for me. The loss of energy isn't from the lipo, I don't believe. Your body will go through a trauma. You'll feel crappy for a few days. Some ladies go back to work after 2 weeks, some make it, some don't. I hope this helped. I'm going to contact you with an excellent TT website where you can read so much and learn from others' experiences. It's a forum that's very addicting though.

  39. QUESTION:
Question for women who have had breast augmentation?
I enjoy running long distances and I am also considering breast augmentation....however I am going to a very conservative size, large B to small C.....After the appropriate time to heal, and with the right sports bra, does it hurt or cause any discomfort to run? Does it cause back pain?

    • ANSWER:
My wife just had some installed and they are fantastic. I could never tell they where fake and she went from an A to DD. They where placed behind the muscle and with the new silicone implants you cant tell. The less expensive implants (saleen) are more noticeable and don’t feel real. I would spend the extra for the better implants IMO.

As for running there will be an effect because you are adding weight to your chest but I think once healed and wearing the right sports braw you should be ok.

I wopuld also recomend going bigger than a B or C. I say this because we where thinking the same as you and going more conservitive. But when it was all done the DD look great and are not all that bit. They are not so big they stand out but I would say big enough to where nice clothes.

Your doctor should really help you. The dortor we used was recommended and he really new his stuff and guided use through alot of it.

  40. QUESTION:
Just had a breast augmentation... Can i smoke marijuana?
im recovering from a breast augmentation, its the day after, and i was wondering if marijuana would help with pain or if it is a bad idea.... i don not smoke cigarettes.

    • ANSWER:
Smoking anything can slow down the healing process, it's probably not a good idea. Your body is under a great deal of stress right now and it's important to give it the things that it needs, and also to limit things that could possibly harm it. My suggestion: if your pain medications aren't strong enough, call your doctor, they may need to switch your medication or they may have useful suggestions for pain management. Save the pot for when you get better;)

  41. QUESTION:
My g/f recently had complications from a breast augmentation. Does she have a good malpractice case?
My girlfriend recently had complications from breast augmentation surgery. Does she have go a malpractice cas
After her initial sub-muscular breast enhancement surgery, my g/f complained of severe pain in her left arm. The pain increased throughout the day and was to the point that night where the max dose of pain medication was not even touching the pain. Her left breast was swollen more than 2xs the size of her right one. I called her doctor at 9:30 PM that night and he agreed to come look at her. After seeing her, he said he didn't know why her arm was hurting and that he didn't think anything was wrong, and that he would be back at 8 AM to check on her. At 5:30 AM, she passed out and became unresponsive. We calle 911 and the ambulance took her to the ER. It was determined that she had a Hematoma in her left breast, and emergency surgery was performed by her surgeon to correct the problem. Does she have a case of negligence, since the doctor said nothing was wrong when clearly she was in excrutiating pain and had such severe swelling? Shouldn't he have suspected hematoma?

    • ANSWER:
Hematoma is a known complication of surgery, and was undoubtedly on the lengthy surgical consent form that she signed (and probably initialed each page of).

Not recognizing the hematoma might have been negligent, but you're going to have to prove damages, not from the hematoma itself, but from the delay in diagnosis. That is, if it had been evacuated at night instead of in the morning, something would have been dramatically different.

I'm guessing that you'd have a very difficult time making a case for that, and an even more difficult time finding a lawyer to take the case. Not enough money in it.

  44. QUESTION:
Sore boobs 7 months after breat augmentation. Any ideas on whats up?
I am hoping someone can help me.

I keep having this strange sensation in my boobs! Its been happening for 4-5days now, and they feel very strange, achy, and tingly. Like a very light bee sting or something. I also keep getting pains around my bladder area, just short stabbing like pains randomly.

I had breast augmentation surgery last August (8 months ago) and they settled very quickly and i had no problems ever since. But im wondering if my body has suddenly decided to reject them now or something?

I will also add i am on the contraceptive pill, and had a very light period lasting 5 days (finished 4 days ago).

Any ideas on whats happening to me? i feel very strange and i have never had this problem or soreness before!

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
This sort of pain 8 months after breast augmentation is not normal and really needs to be checked out a.s.a.p. I think your period sounds normal though, especially for being on the contraceptive pill. If you can, go back to the doctor who did your breasts, if he is in another country (as a lot of girls get them done abroad now) then make an appointment with your GP and go from there. Make the appointment today, this is not normal. Take care.

  45. QUESTION:
Have you had a breast augmentation or liposuction done?
I like to see all the plastic surgery shows, but you never hear people talk about the recovery time. Plus, I don't know of anyone personally who has had either procedure done. I would like details pertaining to one or the other. How was the recovery? Was there any pain? If so, how bad was it on a scale of 1-10? After the healing, how do the implants feel? How does the body look or feel after lipo? Please give any other information. I am thinking about getting one or the other done one day, for myself!
Thank you both for your answers!!! Very informative!!!

    • ANSWER:
I've never had lipo, but I do have implants.
Yes, there was pain, quite a bit at first, but you are back to work in a week. You can't do any heavy lifting (and when I say heavy, I mean like over 15 pounds) for the first couple weeks. Vacuuming can be very difficult at first. On a scale of 1-10, I would probably say that on day two (which is the worst) it is probably a 7, but you feel marked improvement every day.
What do they feel like? Well, they feel like boobs. They jiggle, and you can squeeze them, they aren't like 2 rocks on your chest. I have had them for about a year now, and I feel like I have always had them.
I don't know what other information you would like, but I can tell you that I have absolutley no regrets.
This website was very helpful to me during my research: http://allaboutplasticsurgery.com/

      Good luck to you.

    Breast Implants Cause Pain?
HI! Just wondering if anyone will be able to help me out. Last May I had a breast augmentation using using silicone implants. About two months after I got them put it i realized that the right breast was much firmer and more round that the left. After going to the Dr he confirmed that what I had was a capsular contracture and Im having it corrected in two week. Since my surgery Ive been realizing that I have really bad memory loss and horrible pain in my joints through out my body. Could this be from the implants? I know they can cause problems in the long run but could it be the implants be causing these issues so soon?

    • ANSWER:
Hematoma is a generalized term for a collection of blood. The Doctor saw no fault in the breast augmentation itself so I guess he was reluctant to give any other diagnosis so as not to condemn his work. If you Sue him what will you be actually suing him for? Is there a Doctor willing to stand up in court and testify against him and do you have the money to pay costs if you lose?

  48. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation Experiences?
I'm 20 years old and really considering getting a breast augmentation. Any stories, and or experiences would be very helpful. How was the surgery (I'm terribly scared of getting surgery!) Any problems? How bad was the pain..can the implants pop or need to be replaced after so long? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
My story- to start I'm 19 years old. I got my breast implants done 3 months ago. I love them!!! ... I knew I wanted this since I was like uuummm 16, i come from a small chest family but with big hips and butts LOL. But I love breast! I just think they are nice...and I wanted mine to be nice too... Well when I turned 18 I went for my first consultation... The doctor seemed good but due to a death in the family I had to cancel my surgery date. 7 months later I found my doctor! He was perfect!!! That was what he specialist in "breast only"... I saw pictures of his work and I was recommended by two women. The day of my surgery, I was super nervous, my mayor fear was how they were gonna look... But when i was ready (in the surgical table) i was having fears of not waking up or being able to feel the pain. I told my bf i wanted to leave LOL. but i couldn't! Everything was paid and I was ready for surgery. After the surgery... I felt like i was drunk... All i could do or say was "i want to lay on my side" the nurse keep insisting that i couldn't. Ive never slept in my back and im thinking since my chest was so heavy my back was hurting so bad. One the way home i remember so parts.... but every lil bump on the road felt like i was being punch in my chest. I got home and didn't wake up till the next day. I didn't care about my boobs or even looked down to see them till the 3rd day LOL. I looked at them and they were HUGE! LOL. but the pain was bad. I needed help to get up, lay down, eat, brush my hair, take showers, go to the rest room any thing you could think of.... but i didnt want to be home. My boyfriend took me to the mall on my 4th day because i wanted to walk around. OMG! Every time i would go outside (november) it was freezing and my breast got really tight and heavy that i couldnt walk any more. The pain was major!!! .... well 3 months later... i still have the scars...i hope i cant see them soon...but all i can tell you that it was all worth it!!! I love them and i would do it all over again without a doubt. Make sure you resarch your doctor and you feel good about it. I always go with my gut feeling. BTW I was an A cup and went to a full B. This was a big diffrence cof me. Oh btw yes they can pop but the implants have this insurance for 00 if they pop in the next 10 years they have to replace them and i got an extra insurance for 0 that will cover up to 00.... Email me if you have any more questions.

  49. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation...your personal experiences...?
On a serious level I do ask my surgeon these questions, I just want to know from you, your personal experiences. Thank you.

How long after your surgery did your breasts settle? When did they become softer and more natural looking? When did the swelling go down? How long after the surgery did you maintain contact with your surgeon? How long did it take for you to feel completely comfortable with them? Did anything specific (good or bad) happen to you? Someone told me that they couldn't go swimming for about a year as it was sore. After that the pain simply went away. This was possibly very unique to her. Tell me your unique experiences both good and bad.

Again, I know what the doctors say what one should and shouldn't do but I want personal experiences please, thanks again.

    • ANSWER:
It wasn't very long before they settled. Probably only a few months, but now - a year and a half on they're fab. It takes time with the healing and your confidence - I wouldn't lie on them at first, not because it hurt but because you just don't trust them lol. Now I can lie on them no problem.
The swelling went down quite quickly too. I can't remember exactly how long it took though.
Don't know about the swimming - I don't like swimming so I haven't tested it lol.
I didn't really have any unique experiences, not much pain - my threshold is good and I needed the op not just wanted it.
My confidence has tripled with my partner - it's brilliant, I actually feel like a woman and not a man in drag.

Thanks Missy, yeah I know the feeling when the support bra comes off, it's almost scary. I too went from an A cup to a C cup. These things bounce (lol.). I fortunately have sensitivety in my nipples. Oh I had my op on the 5th of May (5 days now). I also had generally no pain more a discomfort. It feels very tight. I'm almost scared to move. And yes Posh does NOT look good. Anyway thanks for the feed back.

    • ANSWER:
I had my surgery 2 months ago and they have dropped alot. It took less than a week for the swelling to go down. They are getting softer every day and look completely natural. I have a 3 month post op visit with my surgeon soon and everything is going great. I had nothing bad happen to me, only good. I doubt the swimming thing is true cause I told my surgeon I was going to Wisconsin Dells in July and he said I'll be fine. I am 2 months post-op and have no pain, just a little discomfort when sleeping. I went from a deflated B to a DD, D in some bras and love them!!!!
