I took to pain killers for a couple of days and felt no pain, then it was minor after I stopped taking them.       I don't live in LA, so it's hard to say. But given that there is such a high amount of those procedures performed in the area, you should have no difficulty finding a quality surgeon.

      As for cost, you're probably looking somewhere in the neighborhood of 00 - ,000. Don't go cheap or "bargain basement" on this. This is your body and you don't want a botched job by a low grade surgeon. Do your fact finding and research.       hi! i got mentor memory gels about two months ago and i paid 6400$ and my PS is the chief of plastic/recon surgery at a Magnet (premier accredidation) hosptial. I had 4 consults before choosing a PS, the other prices were 00, 00 and 00. The highest priced PS def had the worst reputation (i later found out!).
      It was one price for implants, anesthesia, PS fees, OR fees, pre-op mammogram, complete H/P, etc. NOTHING else.
      you should verify this..sometimes lab fees or pre-op exams arent covered or (in the case of my friend who got them the same week as me!) had to lie to insurance and claim 'breast pain' to get mammogram covered...uhm can we say tacky!
      as far as other expenses, SURGICAL BRAS! yeah, i had NO idea! i bought 5 surgical/compression bras and each was 30-90$! but, i would spend the money again! they were a life-saver! some people say just wear tight sports bra, but you wont be able to lift your arms above your head to get the sports bra on! so, the specially designed surg bras are front snapping and are made to compress in the right areas to minimize edema and promote blood flow.
      I also went from A/AA to C-D (450cc each side). the smaller you are in the beggining, the smaller you have to go w/o being super tight and funky looking! i had originally asked for 500cc but i woke up with 450's because the doc said he couldnt even close with 500s! I know it sounds funny, but being a little bit saggy before BA is actually an advantage as far as a natural look afterwards and being able to get larger cc implants!

Now silicone is in thicker form making it less likely to run and leak throughout your body if the bag breaks. However you still have to get mri's done to make sure they aren't leaking, silicone can be dangerous. Saline some complain don't feel as real as silicone but i can't say since i've not felt it.
      At18 you should be loving your breasts not wanting a boob job! every 10 years you have to get them replaced!
