While Gynecomastia or the development of breasts in males is not life-threatening, the humiliation it causes is more than enough to cause low-self esteem and depression in men. In most cases, men who developed this condition prevent from going out of the house or dating women – afraid that they will be ridiculed due to having “moobs”.
Fortunately, there are a number of ways to treat Gynecomastia. While the most common and most inexpensive way to treat is through medications and diet, there are cases when a patient has no option but to undergo surgery.
Surgery for removal of developed male breasts includes liposuction in order to suck out the excess fat causing the "enlargement". Surgical reshapement is also needed to make the chest look even flatter.
Sadly, the surgery needed for flattening of the chest is seen as cosmetic in nature which means most insurance carriers would not cover it. Furthermore, since this kind of surgery has become more and more popular, doctors have also seen the financial opportunity involved in such medical procedures. Simply put, you would need a lot of money if you choose to go under the knife in order to have flat boobs again.
The actual cost of the surgery depends on a lot of factors. The location, for instance, plays a big factor. In the United States alone, for example, it is much more expensive to have it in New York compared to other states. Patients also have the option of having it in another country. Asian countries such as Thailand is a popular choice mainly for two reasons – it’s the cosmetic surgery capital of Asia plus you’d be paying in baht (Thailand’s currency) which means you’d be getting more bang for your dollars.
The doctor's professional experience in dealing with such surgeries is also a factor. Obviously, the more experienced the doctor is, the more they will be charging for their service. Personally though, I think this is one factor that you should never try to get a discount on. I mean, you are having a gynecomastia surgery for crying out loud, and it just makes sense to get the best doctor possible.
The extent of the surgery is another factor. Every patient has a different case, and the doctor may need to work more on one patient than the other. The surgery’s extent is determined by the fat present on the breasts as well as the degree of reshaping needed in order to get the chest flat again.
The cost of anesthesia, facility fee, compression vest for post surgery as well as medications are also factors on how much the surgery would cost. Overall, experts suggest preparing at least ,500 to ,000 to cover all bases. This is a very large sum compared to the average cost for the same surgery if done in Thailand which starts at around ,600 dollars.
In conclusion, we say the figures shown here are quite meager compared to the confidence that patients will gain back after the surgery. However, we suggest using surgery only as a last resort when medications or diet wouldn't work to treat man boobs.

QUESTION:
How much does a Gynecomastia surgery cost?
Please could anyone tell me how much does a surgery for Gynecomastia cost? I've had it since three years and its not going away at all. Also, do you know any other treatment without surgery? Thanks
-
ANSWER:
Since you have undergone surgery before, I suggest you go back to your surgeon and find out the reason behind your current situation. Is it due to still have remaining glandular tissue or just new fat tissue?
There are some non-surgical treatments but only applicable to selective cases, ie. pseudo-gynecomastia. If your gynecomastia is due to excess fat, you may want to try some workouts, ie. DB bench press and other chest exercises. Adjust your diet. You may want to try tumeric and more alkaline food.

QUESTION:
How much does Gynecomastia surgery cost in Malaysia ?
Hi, i've had gynecomastia since the age 10 and 14 years later, i've finally decided to go ahead with surgery. As the cost could be a huge hindrance, would appreciate if anyone has any idea how much such an operation would cost in Malaysia ? Thanks folks-
ANSWER:
Gynecomastia surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Tour2india4health Consultants .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.Tour2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

QUESTION:
Gynecomastia what can i expect from surgery?
I was thinking about getting Gynecomastia surgery. I was wondering what scarring was involved with it. How visible are they if there is scarring. How long will it be before I'm able to do things along with go to the gym for a chest workout. I have been diagnosed by my doctor with having gynecomastia. I have a consultation scheduled with a surgeon i just wanted to get some information ahead of time.-
ANSWER:
You didn't mention your age, but you should know that Gynecomastia usually goes away on its own within a couple of years after puberty. That's always preferable to undergoing surgery. I've had surgery, although not for your problem, and it takes at least 6 months to really get back to anything like normal. You may lose some nerve ending in your chest and nipples. You will have some scarring, and it might not look especially normal. My advice is to wait and see if you're still anywhere near puberty.
Remember that when you consult with a surgeon that they always think surgery is the solution. That's how they view the world. There's a saying..."To the man with a hammer, the world looks like it needs a nail." Try to remember that there are other solutions (such as just waiting). You can always have surgery later if it doesn't clear up on its own, so why risk surgery now?

QUESTION:
After Gynecomastia Surgery? Can you go back to normal work?
after a breast reduction surgery from gynecomastia, the doc has given me a binder for the chest.... can i do work already? i am a nursing attendant...can i go on with my job? and what are the work i should avoid whil recovering?-
ANSWER:
The first answer is correct. Your doctor should've answered this question because only he knows how severe your case was and how long your recovery should take. That said, I had gynecomastia surgery on a Friday and was able to get back to work that following Monday. I had to wear my compression vest for a few days, but that's about it. Use common sense when deciding to do anything involving your chest muscles, especially lifting heavy objects. I went back to the gym about a month after my surgery.
If you haven't returned to work already, use a sick day or two to recover.

QUESTION:
How can I convince my parents to let me get gynecomastia removal surgery?
I've had hormonal gynecomastia since I was 10 and I'm 17 now, and I've seen no improvement. I tried asking my parents to let me have surgery for it but they just laughed at me. How can I convince them?-
ANSWER:
Have you tried discussing this with your doctor? Could you still outgrow it?If it is unlikely that your gynecomastia will go away on its own, try to arrange a meeting with your doctor and your parents. I can imagine that it's emotionally and socially difficult to be 17 and have gynecomastia. From what I've heard, the surgery is a quite straightforward procedure and has a very positive impact on the patients' well-being.

I'm going to Louisville, Kentucky for a consultation with a plastic surgeon. How long will I have to wait to get surgery?-
ANSWER:
I have always wondered this as well. I would guess that the only issue is the schedule of the surgeon. He or she should be able to get you in whenever it works for both of your schedules. I did some research into the procedure and found this interesting article about gynecomastia and male breast reduction. QUESTION:
How can I reduce my gynecomastia without surgery?
I am 18 years old and I have had gynecomastia since I was 7. When I was 7 I was overweight and I didn't start becoming self-conscious of my breasts until age 10 and I rarely took my shirt off in front of others, nor went to the pool. When I was 14 I was close to 300 pounds [I was very tall at 6'3"] and my breasts grew even more. The physicians even measured me as a B cup. So over the last 4 years I've changed my eating habits, started exercising more and now I am down almost 70 pounds. Basically every area on my body diminished by my breasts, and I'm becoming more discouraged because I have defined pectoral muscles with huge flappy breast tissue sloshing over it. I can feel where the muscle stops and the tissue begins
The doctor said it would dissolve over puberty. Now I am coming towards the end of puberty and no progress has been achieved. How can I reduce my gynecomastia without expensive surgery?
-
ANSWER:
dude...i feel bad fo u...but u can't really spot reduce a certian area...the best ways i can suggest is stop eating fatty food..try to hit the gym for cardio..do a good 30 min cardio for a month or so and then switch to HIIT( high intensity interval training ), do a lot of swimming..and most importantly..DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!..

QUESTION:
How are the results of gynecomastia surgery on men with a good amount of muscle tissue in the peck area?
I have seen many after pictures of gyno surgery and the chest often looks deflated with no shape. Just nipples and skin... Is this because they didn't have a good amount of muscle beforehand? Does the liposuction take away the muscle tissue also? I have a good amount of muscle on the top of my chest but have bad (fatty Not glandular) gyno at the bottom-
ANSWER:
The results are very good. A small incision is made around the nipple and it cannot even be detected after the surgery. The fatty tissue is removed through this incision. If you have muscular pectoral muscles, none of it will be removed. Therefore, all will be okay. Also, the recovery period is very short. You could have the surgery on Friday and be back to work on Monday.

QUESTION:
I had gynecomastia surgery, but the problem seems to be coming back?
i had gynecomastia surgery about a month ago. My chest was completely flat the day after surgery but about a week later it wasn't as flat and was starting to look like man boobs again.went to the surgeon, and he told me that it's 100% swelling and that it may take up to six months to go away. I still have a doubt in my mind tho...
Is this swelling or is the problem reoccuring?
-
ANSWER:
it could be coming back, however your surgeon would know for sure. For one thing gynecomastia, the enlarged portion tends to be more solid then women's breasts... so a surgeon would easily be able to tell if it was swelling or if the problem was recurringbottom line... you just had a semi-major surgery, relax and if you are freaked out by the way you look, try wearing a compression shirt

QUESTION:
gynecomastia surgery for a 16 year old?
I've had gynecomastia since before puberty i think. I'm 16 and tired of getting conscious taking off my clothes. I really want this surgery. I know i'm still in puberty but this has been with me like more than 3 years. I haven't consulted my parents yet, but i think they notice because they are both doctors. Is it advicable for me take surgery? Will the post surgery heal for a month?-
ANSWER:
Alright, the person above is most likely wrong. Your gynecomastia hasn't gone away yet, so most likely, it wont. I was stuck with mine until 19 and I only rid myself of it because I took something; I wont tell you what I took because your parents would be upset if you asked for a prescription for it.
You should wait until you are ATLEAST 18. If you want your insurance to cover your surgery you need to be 18 and there is no point in getting surgery if your just going to have a chance to get it back because you are not done with puberty. Once you get done with puberty then consult your parents; who knows, you could get lucky, but the chances are slim.
Yes, the post surgery is about a month.
Good luck with your pain, don't let it change your life.

is it okay to masturbate two days after getting gynecomastia surgery?thanks i guess i'll just get someone to do it for me instead haha

ANSWER:
Yes. Gynecomastia surgery only affects your chest - so it's just fine to masturbate, unless the way you do it stresses any healing incisions. Here's a good way to figure it out - try it (gently) and if it makes your chest hurt, then don't do it. If it doesn't make your chest hurt, then go right ahead.
