  9. QUESTION:
    Breast reduction cost from a size 34/36 DD to a 34/36 B?
I am 18 years old, 5 feet tall, and I have been talking about getting a breast reduction since I was about 14, when I was a 32 DD. My boobs have always been a huge problem, putting me in physical therapy for four years, I haven't been able to continue my passions for Cheerleading and Horseback Riding, and I have been limited in all of my activities due to the pain my back, neck, and shoulders are always in.

I have finally gotten a consultation, and my doctor is trying to find me a surgeon that will work with my insurance company to cover the cost of the procedure. How much would a reduction of that nature cost? I know that going from a DD to a B is a large procedure, and that it would cost more than a normal one. Any ideas on costs?

    • ANSWER:
The average breast reduction cost varies from ,000 to ,000. Fees include anesthesia, which ranges from ,000 to ,500, and the facility fee (or hospital fee), which ranges from 0 to ,000. The remaining cost will be the surgeon's fee. If more than one procedure is done at the same time, then the total cost will be more, but less than if the procedures are performed separately.

I completely disagree with the person who was saying "DON'T DO IT!" >.< It's your body and it sounds like your breasts are causing you a LOT of problems.. I have friends who are big in the chest region and they absolutely hate it. Check this website out :)
      Good luck!

  10. QUESTION:
How much would breast reduction surgery cost without the use of insurance?

    • ANSWER:
      somewhere between ,000 and ,000

  11. QUESTION:
    Average cost of breast reduction?
I was wondering if anyone here has had a breast reduction and if so, if you could answer a few questions. I realize that a lot depends on the individual and terms of health insurance. I also realize that it depends on where you are in the country and that choosing a surgeon is important. I am a 38 C/36 D. The 38 C is what I wear even though it is actually too big around the rib cage. I've tried a 36 C but, well, the C isn't working as a 36 C. I can't always find a 36 D that isn't underwire. I am 29 years old, 5 ft. even, no children (don't want any kids), and would be considered overweight. I have lost some weight (fat) but still need to lose some more weight. The part that is difficult is that my breasts impact the way that I stand more than anything else. And even though I have lost some weight, my breasts haven't really lost a lot of weight. I exercise on a regular basis too. It would be beneficial to have the reduction because it would help physically, especially since I am planning on working in a field that requires physical work (in grad school for wildlife biology). I would only be doing this for the physical benefits. If I decide to go through with it, I would love to have a cup size of B.

I plan on talking to my health insurance company about it before I become too terribly concerned about getting it done.

    1) Did your insurance company cover the cost of the insurance?
    2) If yes, how much did you have to pay out-of-pocket? If no, what was the cost for you?
    3) Did you consider a teaching hospital for the lower fees?

Any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

  12. QUESTION:
How much would a breast reduction cost if...?
I recently lost almost 100lbs but my breasts are still really big, my entire family of women have large breasts and now my body doesn't match my breasts. I wear a size 46DD and am looking to be able to wear a 34 C. I have a hard time fitting in clothes and they are just really too big to handle (exercise and what not) I am thinking of getting a breast reduction and I'm really not finding much information on pricing. I know prices vary according to different surgeons and doctors but just wondering if anyone has had it done and wouldn't mind telling me how much it was. Just so I can have some type of information before I really get serious about it.

    • ANSWER:
You will need to call specific doctors in your area to find out about pricing. The cost will vary greatly, and sometimes insurance will cover all or part of the surgery. Some of the variation depends on the type of reduction you have too, and how much reconstruction is done, and whether you want to keep nipple sensitivity or the ability to breastfeed in the future or not. At the very least, it's probably going to cost 00. Probably a lot more though, especially if the doctor is skilled.

I think you may not understand how breast sizing works, either. You can get breast reduction from a 46DD to a 46B or 46C, but not from 46DD to 34DD. The number is the band size, and indicates the size of your ribcage. The cup size is the size of your breast. Liposuction on your back and rib fat may reduce the band size, but that would be a separate procedure.

You may want to consider making peace with your breasts. Your breasts are normal and healthy. Below is a link to a gallery of normal breasts in a non-sexual context. It's worth looking at, even if you decide you still want to alter yours.

      Good luck.

  13. QUESTION:
I want to shrink my boobs. How much could breast reduction cost?
So I'm 20 years old. For as long as I know, I've always had bigger boobs, even when I was 90 lbs at 15, I had a size B. I'm 5 feet tall and 110 lbs. But it's just my frickin BREASTS. I'm currently a 36 C, almost a D. My friends have recently realized I have big breasts; the one thing that annoys me is that I can't wear certain bathing suits/dresses/shirts because of their size. The cleavages, they just ruin the look on me. My friends say "they look hot" and I know some people are gonna be like "WHYYY WOULD YOU WANNA DO THAT?" I am not comfortable in them, they ruin my outfits. I just found a beautiful flower one piece bathing suit which would of looked gorgeous on me if it wasn't for the cleavage with...you guessed it, my boobs and this huge cleavage line there. So I didn't want to wear it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me some advice on how to shrink them to possibly a size 32/34 B. How much would a breast reduction be in NJ? And do certain insurances cover it or does it have to be out of pocket?
Is there also a possibility for the breasts to regrow even BIGGER afterwards from the procedure??
If not, maybe something naturally? I'll workout, except I don't really have much to burn on my body but my breasts.

    • ANSWER:
36 c is actually the average size for women today, you would need to contact you insurance company but i would doubt that it would be covered, unless you needed it for a "medically necessary" reason, but until you are about to break you neck because they are so big they wont do it. it is possible for them to grow back because its hormones. also then you would have to deal with that ugly scar.

What's the cost of a breast reduction?

I want to get rid of these balloons cause the back pain is gettin worst, so bad in fact I cant even stand up straight when my back hurts. Please help me! Thank you in advance

    • ANSWER:
if you want your insurance to cover it, you have to meet the requirements of your insurance company. all insurances have different criteria. then it will cost you what ever your insurance plan is, like deductible plus 10%.

if you want to pay for it out of pocket it will probably cost between k-k.

i am not sure of your age but the girl who posted before me has incorrect information. you can get a reduction at any age. if you are under 18, like everything else in the life, you need parental permission. the only reason why i would suggest you wait if you are younger is because you are still growing and going through puberty.

      good luck!

  16. QUESTION:
I live in England and wanted to know if male breast reduction would be cheaper for me in Canada?
I developed gyno when I was 14, I am now 25 years old and I can't cope anymore with my gyno. In England, male breast reduction costs about £4500, so I was thinking maybe it would be cheaper of I had it done in Canada where the Canadian $ is weaker than the British £. The worry I have with this, though, is that although the operation may be cheaper in Canada, the air fair and costs of staying in hotels might make it more expensive. Is this the case?

  17. QUESTION:

I am seeking to have the procedure done in the US (not cheaply/poorly in South America)

    • ANSWER:
You may want to check with your health insurance. Some companies cover it as a necessary treatment for back pain. Do you research, as it will help convince your doctor that you are a candidate.
-Some insurance companies make you see you regualar doctor for a refferal for plasic surgeon.
-Depending on your size overall, they may suggest you loose some weight first and then get reevaluated.
-also insurance companies have designated amounts nessesarry to take off to have it be covered under insurance. so many grams for each side. The plastic surgeon will help you understand all of this.
Before you pay out of pocket for this try to get your insurance to cover it.

How much would male breast reduction surgery cost?
HI I am 17 years old, 5'7 inches tall and weigh 230 lb.I am overweight but i understand that over weight men start to grow man boobs because of the fat that grows on there chest.Well i am concern about my chest sticking out more then normal.I have seen obese men with not much chest fat but my chest fat seems to stick out more then usual and i am concern that i might have "gynecomastia".I am sick of it making me lose my self esteem all because i might have a problem that happened genetically to me starting at age 14.It became to be more noticeable then usual as i aged.Until now i am very concerned!I have tried losing weight off that area many times but it never came off.How much would a male breast reduction surgery cost? Please take me seriously!I had past suicidal thoughts because of other problems i have dealt with!

    • ANSWER:
Call the surgeon's offices & ask, Bubba.
I doubt they would do it until after you've finished puberty at age 21 or later - to let everything finish growing first.

I suspect you gave up trying to lose weight much too soon. When you give up too soon - you never realize what you could have accomplished. Don't even talk about suicidal issues - when you know you're just a wee bit too lazy to make a commitment to yourself to make improvements.
If you have had 'other issues' - then possibly psychological counseling could help you learn to deal with your issues.

  24. QUESTION:
    Cost for male breast reduction?
I have flabby male boobs, my female friend who is a lesbian inspected them for me and they are just under an A-cup size. Thing is I'm very skinny everywhere else, and so have long thought it to be gynemastia. I've seen the doctor about it two times, both times he has said it's just fat and that I can burn it off. I've tried this, but it's not working, I'm developing pecs but it's simply pushing the fat forward the more I build the muscle underneath.

So, if anyone has any other suggestions, please post them. If not, what is the cost of male breast reduction and how does it work? Thanks in advance.

Ballpark costs for breast reduction surgery?

Sources I've found only describe the procedure and request an in-person consultation. I'd like to have a ballpark before considering such a consultation.

    Serious answers only, please.

    • ANSWER:
for breast reduction most if not all insurance carriers should cover this ... they have recogonized that they can cause serious back problems and cause shoulder to hunch if they are too big, she should ask her doctor if he can make it so that this is covered under insurance ... as for cost most times it'll be the same as a breast enlargement, but each person is different ... probably around 5k-9k ... but please use a doctor that is reputable not just a cheap one.

    • ANSWER:
You know you haven't even finished developing properly. Wait until you are 21. Your body may grow into them. Or if you are overweight perhaps you may want to loose weight in case fat has just built up in there.
If you are that concerned and serious about a dangerous operation (damage your back) get professional advice.
      Common sense

You are so young, don't go damaging your body, be happy with what you have unless you have problems with your back, health etc.
Oh and the problem can be simply solved by getting proffesional fitting for your breasts. Sounds like you are wearing the wrong bra size.

  31. QUESTION:
Breast reduction surgery: real cost, results, complications, recovery time, experiences?
I am 30 and plan on having breast reduction surgery in four or five years, after I am done having children. I have massive breasts that make shopping for clothes, especially bras, a major pain, and I get regular back pain because of them. (Current cup size approximately K!) I am overweight but they still look ridiculously huge on me, especially because I have narrow shoulders and a short waist.

I have done a lot of research online in regards to cost, recovery, outcome, etc, but they are all from business websites, and what I would really like is some real-world experiences. Why you did it, how much it end up costing you, what the results were, any complications you may have had, and so on. I am especially interested in cost because my insurance will not cover the surgery, and I want to avoid financing it if at all possible, so I need to figure out how much money to save up.

Any thoughts and comments from ladies who've had the surgery or know someone who has would be appreciated.

I hate having big boobs, it is uncomfortable and attracts the wrong kind of attention... I want normal boobs!! I am slim so they stand out!!
Anyway!! I dont think there would be much need for an uplift, just the reduction of 2 cup sizes!
Any additonal information on breast reduction would be REALLY appreciated!!

    • ANSWER:
      Hey Lucy,

It depends where you get it done, the type of surgery, and a few other things... but think 4-6k. However more importantly, think carefully about the consequences!

Your figure would be considered by many people - male and female - to be perfect. (Damn you!) After a reduction you don't end up with perfect perky C-cups - there is always scarring, there is a 50:50 chance you won't be able to breast feed, there are other possible side effects like loss of sensation, and sometimes worse. The final look is never perfectly natural, and I fear you would go from having an exceptionally fab if not always convenient chest to one which might be more practical to live with, but which you may come to regret.

If you really want to go for it, just talk to your GP and ask them to suggest a surgeon you could meet with - there's no problem in looking into these things. It's your chest and your life so if it makes you happy, it can't be wrong... but I just can't help thinking you're not excessively large at the moment and you have something many women pay thousands to try (and fail) to emulate... it seems a shame... sorry to be so guy-like! :) Best of luck whatever you decide!

  35. QUESTION:
    Question about breast reduction?
I'm 5'5 120 lbs and have a 34D or DD breast. It does cause minor back and neck problems, and my breathing is a little restricted. I'll be 18 in nine months. Do you think it would be possible for insurance to cover the cost of a breast reduction when I turn 18? Please help.
    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
Probably, yes. Those are large breasts for a little frame. If you're having problems now, they'll only get worse as you get older.

  36. QUESTION:
how much would a breast reduction, tummy tuck and a thigh and buttocks lift cost?
These areas are the bane of my existence; no matter how much dieting or exercise I do they will reduce their size! My mum says the breast reduction might be done by the NHS but she says it’s pain-full. Does anybody have any ideas as to how much I’ll need to save for all three surgeries?

    • ANSWER:
It could be anywhere from ,000 to 0,000 depending on insurance and hospital bills. Most insurance WILL NOT cover elective procedures like this, meaning you'll have to pay for all of it. A tummy tuck alone could cost ,000+.

Are you really being truthful with how hard you're trying to loose weight?

Try seeing a personal trainer or nutritionist before you take the expensive, painful, and possibly dangerous plunge into plastic surgery. It's not really as quick a fix as people make it out to be.

  37. QUESTION:
Ladies in UK. Anyone had breast reduction recently. How much did it cost?
I have reached my tether with my huge breasts dictating what I wear and have decided to have a reduction op next year. Am same like crazy but don't really know what is the least to most I would be expected to pay. Probably have it done in London (by a qualified surgeon of course)
Conor 1423 - I have already bagged myself a husband. We have been together for nineteen years and still happy with each other.

    • ANSWER:
Many years ago I worked on this problem with a plastic surgeon (I am not medically qualified). He told patients that pregnancy would affect the size of their breasts and that in some patients the hormones could cause further breast enlargement even after the operation. He also told them to talk to their obstetrician about breast feeding as when the nipple is moved it can affect the milk ducts and make mastitis more common.

Because the operation affects the distribution of the supporting structures within the breast then age changes in the breast shape may occur earlier.

All the patients we worked on were operated on under the NHS so their breast size or mismatch in sizes were at the extreme end of the spectrum and their breasts were leading to other medical problems.

Do make sure that your surgeon is not only an FRCS but a member of the appropriate plastic or cosmetic surgical associations. Check about aftercare and whether you will have to pay for treatment if anything goes wrong. Remember that this is serious surgery and will leave you with some scars and possible changes in nipple sensation so be sure you really want it.

  38. QUESTION:
does having breast reduction surgery make...?
your nipple smaller?.. i have large nipples an im wondering weather the surgeon would make them smaller? and more to the middle of my breast?.. how much does breast reduction surgery cost in the UK? anyone want to share there stories about it please, would just like to know your veiws of your own personal expeirence. thank you

    • ANSWER:
no having surgery wont make your nipples smaller. I had my boobs done a year ago and they did it going via my armpit so I dont have any scaring at all :-)

you can have the scar under your breast ot even go through your belly button... so many different ways

the only time the surgeon will touch your nipples is if you ask them to reduce the size but it is not recommended.

  39. QUESTION:
    Breast Reduction Surgery Question?
How much would a breast reduction surgery cost if you don't have insurance?(I heard it was 00-7000, so does this include hospital stay and fees?) And what are the chances of something going wrong?
I miswritten the question....How much was your breast reduction surgery cost? if you had one of course including fees and all that stuff.
    yeah I'm 17 haha

    • ANSWER:
The cost is around ,000 now as my daughter is getting one done soon. They won't generally do it until you are 18 and full grown. The risks are the same as any surgery, pain, respiratory problems, allergy, even death. So you need to be really sure this is what you want and see more than one surgeon for an opinion. Good luck:)

  42. QUESTION:
    Breast Reduction?
What is the typical cost of a breast reduction. I don't have any insurance, so I would have to pay cash for it. I wear a 40 I. I would like to get into a C cup.

    • ANSWER:
Rae you are an idiot- "only fat people get big breasts"
I am not fat and have never been fat and yet I am a 34G cup!!!

I am having Breast Reduction surgery in April. The cost of the surgery is a set price for most surgeons regardless of what size you have them taken down to.

I am having mine reduced from a 34G to a 34D to DD and it will cost me AU , 000. I don't have health insurance or private hospital cover either. I will only be getting back 0 - 0 from Medicare and then 20% back from health tax at the end of the financial year.
So it should take the cost down to , 500 which I think considering the surgery is very cheap and well worth it.

      Good Luck!!

  43. QUESTION:
    Q. about breast reduction surgery?
i want to know cost structure of breast reduction surgery n procedure???????????if someone had it so please share your experience...............it would be very kind of u...............THANX

    • ANSWER:
I had my surgery 2 months ago and I do not have health insurance so I paid the full cost. Each Breast Reduction procedure will vary in prices depending on the hospital which you are admitted to and the qualifications and reputation of your plastic surgeon. I paid AU ,500 in total. The costs worked out kind of like this in Australian dollars:

      Plastic Surgeon - ,500
      Anaesthetist - 0
      Anaesthetic- ,100
      Assistant Surgeon- 0
      Theatre- ,200
      Hospital - $ 500 per night
      Plus additional costs.

You can read a lot of my answers on other peoples questions but I used the web site
      www.locateadoc.com
for research. You can see hundreds of before and after photos, animated 3D slide shows of the various techniques available and heaps more.

My surgeon used the Le Jour insision which inolves less cutting so therefore less scarring, quicker healing and a more natural, even and round shape.
I had 500 grams of solid tissue cut from each breast and 100 grams of fat removed from each using liposuction.
The insision running vertically down from my nipple was stitched on the inside with dissolvable stitches. My nipples were cut out although still attached to nerves, tissue, etc so that they could be reshaped to suit my new breasts. They were reattached to my skin using only 3 stitches on each nipple and they were set into surgical glue which is fantastic as it has prevented scarring around the nipples.

  44. QUESTION:
    breast reduction question.?
Let's say the insurance company will cover the costs of my breast reduction surgery, but only down to a size C. What if I am adamant on being a size B. Is it realistic to ask if I could just pay the difference?
What do you mean, "??" ?

Lets say the insurance company has given approval for a breast reduction, but only down to a size C.

But, I want to be smaller, a size B. The insurance company would not approve to go down to that size, correct?

Couldn't I pay the difference out of pocket? Or is that not realistic?

    • ANSWER:
That is not how it will work...

The insurance companies will say something like "Minimum required for approval is 600 grams total". They won't say "only take her down to a C/etc".

The PS who does your surgery will talk to you about what size you would like. If you'd like it a B, he can say he can TRY, however it depends on your breast health. If he can only take you down SAFELY to a small C, then that will have to do. If he goes down any smaller, it could affect your breast health and your health overall!

You won't have to worry about "paying the difference" as they only give MINIMUM requirements... not "only this much out".

In my case, my insurance required a MINIMUM of 600grams TOTAL. My PS took out over 2000 grams total!

  45. QUESTION:
How much does it cost to add a tummy tuck to breast reduction?
I have been referred to a Kaiser plastic surgery center for breast reduction and am considering having a tummy tuck as long as I'm going under anesthesia already. I have heard that it is much less expensive to add a second procedure because the operating room etc. are already being paid for because of the reduction surgery. Has anyone out there had this combo done and do you know what cost is added on for the tummy tuck?
I already know that the entire cost of the breast reduction surgery will be covered by insurance and the tummy tuck will not. I have been told that the tt will be at a discounted price by having the two procedures done together. I have already read support group blogs regarding the recovery and results to expect. What I'm interested in is if anyone has a ballpark idea od what the reduced rate for the tt will be so I can pitch the idea to my hubby before my first appointment with the surgeon.

    • ANSWER:
You will have a longer recovery with a BR and TT. It can be done, the reduction can be covered by insurance, however I'm not sure of the TT being covered by insurance.

Check out http://www.breasthealthonline.org there is a good support board you can get information from people who have had a BR and TT done at the same time.

Like I said, if you go there you will find others who have done both a BR and a TT, where you can find out their rates from them.

will it be free because of health or still cost money for a lift.

    • ANSWER:
