Breast Reductions

Pamela Anderson admitted openly to her breast augmentation and became the virtual spokesmodel for the surgery. Victoria Beckham didn't admit to her breast enlargement, but we all knew it, and she came to represent a "bad" breast augmentation result: very visible, very plastic looking. Of course, her modeling style didn't help, since she essentially looked plastic from head to toe. But still, her breast augmentation results were highly visible and, for better or worse, she also came to represent breast augmentation in a very visible way.

So when both of these women decided to reduce the size of their implants, it was bound to cause a little stir. (Katie Price (AKA Jordan), British fashion model and Beckham's friend/foe/rival also had breast reduction, but although this was noted, she created less of a stir.) The result has been, however, a whirlwind of speculation about whether larger breasts are out and whether celebrities and women in general are going to look for smaller breasts in the future.

What Trend?

Media website The Daily Beast is partly responsible for the flurry of articles considering this trend, with its slide show focusing on 13 women who had (or reputedly had) breast reductions. But is their list really indicative of a recent trend?

The gallery uses breast reductions by Drew Barrymore and Soleil Moon Fry (AKA Punky Brewster), both of whom had breast reductions in 1992, and are clearly not relevant to any contemporary trend. Also irrelevant because of their timeframe are the breast reductions of Kim Fields (Tootie from The Facts of Life) in 1984, Roseanne Barr in 1991, Loni Anderson (WKRP in Cincinnati) in 1995, Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) in 2002, Queen Latifah in 2003, Kimberly Stewart (daughter of Rod Stewart) in 2005, and Sharon Osbourne in 2005. The gallery also uses a purported breast reduction by Jennifer Connelly sometime between 2000 and 2006, which is denied. Her smaller breasts in 2006 are most likely due to significant weight loss, since her entire body is smaller, with pronounced bone structure.

So out of the supposed 13 stars comprising this trend, 9 are not temporally relevant and one is probably not even a real reduction (and wouldn't be temporally relevant in any case), so we're left with 2 prominent breast implant size reductions, and one wannabe reduction (Kelly Osbourne apparently wants her breasts reduced).

Big Busts Still Booming

The truth is that big breasts are still popular among celebrities and wannabe celebrities will probably continue getting breast augmentations to try and "fit the mold." The truth also is that there is also no single standard for what makes a woman attractive and what will make a woman be considered a sex symbol. For every Scarlett Johansson, there will be a Keira Knightly.

Breast augmentation is not about trends or social fads--it is about individual women who are attempting to find a look that helps them feel confident and comfortable with their own bodies. If you are considering either breast augmentation or breast reduction, it is best to make sure you are doing it for yourself and no-one else.

    breast reductions?
I've been thinking about getting a breast reduction. I was wondering if whoever has gotten it done, if you could give a little insight on it. I am a little overweight, but even as a lose the weight, they arent getting any smaller. My shoulders are sore all the time. Could that be because of my boobs? And I was wondering about how much will it cost? Any info is a great help. Thank you!

If youre going to be rude about your answer, Id appreciate it if you didnt answer at all. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
I had the surgery and have never regretted it. It was covered by insurance because of the problems it was causing my back and shoulders. You should check with your regular physician first and see what he or she recommends. They will likely refer you to plastic surgeon.

  4. QUESTION:
What is my first step in getting breast reductions?
I want to get breast reductions. I'm 36ddd, and j am sick of them. I have horrible posture and constant back pain. I can't even sleep on my stomach. What is my first step in getting breast reductions? What kind of doctor do I need to see? Can I get insurance to cover it? Anyone get it and want to tell me anything?

    • ANSWER:
First if i were you i would get fitted for a bra. Make sure you bra fits well. about 70 percent of women are wearing the wrong bra. I'm 36 K UK Sizing so i'm plenty bigger than you. I have no back pain.

You might find that your bra size is really a 34 DDDD/G, 32H, 30I, 28J, or a 26K. Measure your you under the bust if it's smaller than 36 or 35 inches then your not wearing the right bra. also check out see if you have a proper fitting bra.
      http://brastop.com/fitting_room.aspx
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMxzUk35khE

Also take a quick look at this girls website it will show you how important finding the right bra is. This girl is a UK 26 HH that is most likely much larger than you. You can see in the pictures how her first two bras don't do anything for her then the third bra does give her the lift that she needs.

      http://www.thinandcurvy.com/

You might also want to see a chiropractor to document that your spine is not curved or that you don't have any spine defects. It's possible that you always had a spine issues but just never knew it until now. The wrong firing bra and other things my have made things worse then they have to be.

You might also want to get a posture corrector. This will help you a lot until you do get the surgery and you might like what it does for your figure and keep it after the surgery. This is a video of on that I use, mainly cause i have a big tummy.
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHea2IKGi9A

also you need to talk to your primary care. But some insurance might want you to document back trouble. So it could take you 6 months to a year to get the surgery set up. Depending on your insurance and the surgeon's diary it could take an additional 6 months to set up. This why getting the right bra sooner rather than later is important.

Other things you might want to look into getting while you wait are lifts for you shoe since good posture works from the ground up. A new mattress if your is older than 10 years. and an ergonomic pad for your chairs.

If you have not reached your mid 20's yet then you might be denied as your body has not yet matured. You can still grow in breast size until your mid 20's. It doesn't mean that you will but you can. So why get 2 surgery instead of one.

  5. QUESTION:
Can you have breast reductions on the NHS?
I am a size 10 and 34F. When I was a size 4 they were DD. I find it really uncomfortable both physically and mentally- I get back and neck pain because they feel so heavy.
Has anyone had breast reductions on the nhs and is it difficult?

    • ANSWER:
Its non-trivial and they prefer to wait until you are in your twenties (if you are not already). ask to be referrred to a consultant.

You won't be able to work, or drive, or lift anything for a couple of months at least. I know three women who have had them, one being a 5ft- shorty with size 6 jeans and a 30J on top. (now a 30C)

How small can breast reductions go?
So, I'm FtM and want to get chest surgery at some point, but the results I've seen with specifically FtM surgeons are pretty weird looking, to be honest. So my question is, with a garden-variety breast reduction, how small can you reasonably get? I'd like to have an AA or AAA cup (in other words, flat) and I'm currently a 34c.
I don't want to get a full mastectomy because the results for people who have breasts bigger than a b cup generally have pretty bad results.

    • ANSWER:
Since you are going F>M why not just get a double mastectomy, which is removal of both breasts.

  9. QUESTION:

Will OHIP cover my reduction and lift? I have heard that they do, just need clarification!
    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I believe that they only do if they are causing you to have extreme back pain - as it sounds like you are...

I would talk to your doctor about it - (s)he will know for sure.

The biggest drawback to this surgery lies in the breastfeeding department - if you plan to have (more) kids, there is a VERY high chance that you will be unable to produce milk...

After my pregnancy of course, and I dont have any insurance.

    • ANSWER:
no one is going to do the surgery while you are pregnany. your boobs have probably gotten bigger as a result of the pregnany. i suggest you wait until after breast feeding. i had always hoped my children would suck my boobs out of me. but i couldn't wait for children and had a reduction in october.

but if you are legitamitely having medical issues due to a large chest, you insurance company should cover it. mine covered it at 100%.

Does Blue Cross Blue Shield of CT cover breast reductions?
Only serious answers please. I cannot find online if they do, so if anyone knows for sure, let me know. I really need one and just wondering if my insurance is going to cover it, at least a part of it.

    • ANSWER:
I'm not sure of specifically CT but most major insurance carriers like BCBS have nationwide benefit schedules.

A breast reduction can possibly be covered if there is a medically deemed reason it's necessary. Determining factors usually are age, weight, body build, breast size in porportion to body, shoulder/back pain because of breasts, etc.

Check with your doctor, they can verify benefits for you or you can call the 1-800 number listed on your card, there's a benefits coordinator who can answer any of those type questions, they'll give you the exact coverage guidelines in your policy.

Also, be sure you're going to a reputable plastic surgeon, check references as well as the AMA and national association for plastic surgeons.

      Good luck!

do health care plans cover breast reductions?
i am currently busting out of a DD 34 bra size... i'm 19 years old and i wanted to know if health care plans cover breast reductions, if not how much are they? & can you breast feed after having breast reductions?
its giving me terrible sway back and pain.

    • ANSWER:
What you have to do is Go to your family physician and tell him your current problems with having large breast. There has to be a medical reason for the procedure to be performed otherwise the insurance will not cover it Back pain , neck pain , chest pains etc. There has to be some problem that is an immediate threat to your health or causes other health issues that can lead to other conditions. The insurance companies only think about $$ if it is cheaper for them to pay for the surgery which varies from about ,000 to ,000 or more than to pay for a back or neck surgery they will consider it. But also with exercise and weight loss there is a possibility of your breast size reducing on its own I'm not sure of your current weight or anything just bringing it up.There are also the possibility of setting up a payment plan. Hope the info helped and good luck.

  21. QUESTION:
Is there any way besides breast reductions to make my boobs smaller?
I'm 5' 7 i wieght 116 pounds and i have breasts that are WAY too large for me. I'm skinny as hell but my breast size is a 32 G. I don't need. It gives me back problems and shoulder problems plus i get attention that i DON'T want. is there any other way to make them smaller??

    • ANSWER:

  22. QUESTION:
    how do breast reductions work?
How is the surgery done. Is recovery and all that stuff fast? And can you still breast feed?

    • ANSWER:
Hi - breast reduction is a major and invasive surgery. The scars are terrible. Even good scars, ones that fade to white after several years, are still noticeable.

The nipples are cut out and re-placed in the skin. Breastfeeding is highly unlikely. Sensitivity of the nipples is drastically reduced.

If the reduction is being done for the woman herself, in order to make herSELF feel better, then I would recommend it. If the woman wants it done in order to impress a man (or men), she should think again. The scars are awful. Recovery is long.

Any woman thinking of this kind of major cosmetic surgery should always ask her own doctor to recommend a good surgeon.

Never go abroad for this kind of surgery as a 'cheap deal'; the aftercare is usually awful.

      Good luck.

Women who have had breast reductions?
I had a reduction about 2 and a half weeks ago. I have noticed that in some spots where I was cut open there are flaps... Like my skin was sewn over my skin but not together. It will move back and fourth if I move it. That doc said it would flatten out but I wanted to be sure.

    • ANSWER:
Yeah, the flaps will come back leaving a really neat and tidy scar without stitching marks. If the doctor had sewn it straight together without leaving a bit extra over the top it would have left marks where the stitching goes through like little dots and lines.

  30. QUESTION:
    Questions about breast reductions?
I have had the largest boobs of anyone in my grade since the fifth grade. I now have a 32 DD (a size that isn't even made) and am out of high school. I've been thinking about getting a reduction for about three years because I've been experiencing back problems and severe confidence problems but I have some questions:
    1) How much does it cost to get if insurance doesn't cover it?
    2) Is there usually an age restriction?
    3) If you have had a breast reduction, do you like it?
    4) Does it scar?

    • ANSWER:
i feel your pain. i was a 32DDD, and the size does exist, just not a Victoria's Secret. I shopped at expensive bra places. I had a reduction a little over a year ago and it was the best thing I ever did.

      1) How much does it cost to get if insurance doesn't cover it?
My insurance covered it. It was deemed medically neccessary, I had to pay my deductible and 10%. Every insurance is different, so it depends on your plan.

      2) Is there usually an age restriction?
Yes and no. You can have the surgery at any age. If you are younger, you will probably be paying out of pocket and won't be able to get it covered by insurance. I know about 5 people who had breast reductions at 16. The only reason I would suggest waiting, is if you aren't finished puberty, your boobs could still be growing. In which case, you may still have big boobs after surgery. I had my surgery at 27 years old. But really, anything over 20 is fine since most girls have finished puberty at that time.

      3) If you have had a breast reduction, do you like it?
I love the results. It's the best thing I ever did. I can get bras anywhere and don't have to pay and arm and a leg. I can run more easily and everything is better.

      4) Does it scar?
yes, there are scars. but now that it's been over a year, you can barely see them. i know they are there but someone else might not even notice unless they are looking really closely.

i had a great experience and would be happy to answer any questions and share more if you are interested.

  31. QUESTION:
places that take medicaid for breast reductions?
I need names of citys that take medicaid for breast reductions

    • ANSWER:
Will medicaid even pay for a breast reduction? That would be the question: imho.

Otherwise get a list from them about who would do this for medicaid payment.

      And good luck find one.

  32. QUESTION:
What do guys think of breast reductions? (girls can answer too)?
I am almost 20, and I think it will help a lot with my self confidence.

    • ANSWER:
I think it's a good thing. I have 36 DD or DDD depending on the bra. I'm at least getting them lifted, I would love to get them reduced but I grew up with my momma telling me "why get rid of something women pay money for when you have it naturally" plus my boyfriend doesn't want me to. I think I might get them reduced and lifted though...I hate envying girls who get to wear cute bras. I think a large C would be great, smaller but not tiny and you get to wear cute bras!!

  33. QUESTION:
Do you know any NC doctors who do breast reductions and accept medicaid?
I'm in need of one!!! My doctors wrote me a conformation lettter and my social worker checked to make sure I was able to use my medicaid card. So far I can't find a doctor to give me a b.r. because of medicaid.

    • ANSWER:
Medicaid is a big problem because it considers breast reduction a cosmetic surgery and won't ordinarily approve it. But as you say you have confirmation that you have a genuine medical need, your doctor needs to fax a TAR (Treatment Authorization Request) to them to get prior approval for the procedure. You need to contact them and get the name of a cosmetic surgeon who is contracted with Medicaid. Good luck, Medicaid pays slowly and pays pennies and many specialists don't want to be bothered with it. If you don't want to go through Medicaid to get the name of a surgeon, you can contact your local Medical Association and they may be able to halp you locate a surgeon.

  35. QUESTION:
    Questions about Breast Reductions?
I am considering getting a breast reduction and I have a few concerns. Such as, what is the scarring like? Are you able to produce milk and breast feed? Emotionally is it really a huge adjustment? Also if it is covered by insurance do you still have to pay anything toward it or is it all covered?

    • ANSWER:
In answer to your specific questions:

      1) It depends how the procedure is carried out, but typically there is scarring around the edge of the nipple and a scar running down from the nipple to another scar which runs along the 'crease' where your breast meets your torso.

      2) Usually, but there are no guarantees. In some cases it is no longer possible to breast feed, you may also lose sensation in the nipple and, given the nipple is typically repositioned during the procedure, in rare but not unknown cases it is possible to lose the nipple entirely, which requires later reconstruction.

      3) I'm a guy so not really fair for me to comment - but I would guess that depends on the success of the result, and also on the psychological reasons for your perceived need for a reduction in the first place - i.e. whether a woman is fixing a genuine and extreme physical problem, or using the 'problem' of large breasts as a surrogate for other problems in her life.

      4) I'm not American, so no idea!

You don't say what size you are (which is of course your business not mine!), but just as an outside observer it does seem breast reductions are spoken of in the US as relatively trivial and entirely reasonable 'tuning actions' for any woman with slightly large breasts or associated problems of self-image... when in fact it's a very invasive and non-trivial procedure (watch a few - it's not pretty!), and often a properly fitted bra and a hard look at whether in the bigger scheme of things they are a REAL problem or just one of life's many little imperfections might lead to a less radical conclusion than surgery.

I accept of course that I am laying myself open to a kicking here as a guy, but I spent a long time with a girl with a large chest so can understand at least a little of the issues (and my wallet understands the expense of large bras). You may well really benefit from a reduction - your doctor should be the first port of call to see if it might be a good move. I would just encourage you to view it as what it really is, and not a quick wave-of-magic-wand perfect new boobies situation... because it's really not. That's all! :o )

  36. QUESTION:
can you have breast implants after having two previous breast reductions?

i dont want them massively big, just about a d cup, i had them made too small and now i miss them :( i sed to be an ff cup

    • ANSWER:
You might have to go over your plan with your Dr. more than once but in reality Dancers & women who realize that their body is constantly changing will have more than on procedure because they know the shape changes HAPPEN!
For those of you who are uneducated about this & calling the asker "sweety as if she's the one who's stupid: a professional dancer HAS to get a reduction of natural tissues & create the desired shape before getting large implants that will segway into larger implants. Any Dr. who does these kind of surgeries knows that after the "career" has climaxed there is usually an exit plan or finally surgery that will be reduction for practicality. Sweety!

That being said multiple surgeries are common. You need to be comfortable with who you are. If you are willing to pay for the service of body sculpting don't let some SCHMOE that you don't know talk you out of it. Be sure to go to a Dr. that will accommodate YOUR wants. If you go to your previous Dr. & he balks then go to other Dr.'s & explain your ideas to him & what you want your age progression to look like. If shape is the issue do not be afraid to be adamant about your wants. I know it might be hard but you should try to find someone who has the kind of surgery you want & find out who they recommend this is your body & you should be very confident about the out come.

      goodluck

  37. QUESTION:
    Should breast reductions be illegal?
I think so. The world needs as much breast flesh as possible to maintain it's precarious balance of peace and environmental stability. Making fabulous large breasts smaller contibutes to global warming and the spread of fascism. Put a stop to it America!

    • ANSWER:
      OK if you say so

  38. QUESTION:
Do you need implants when you get a breast reduction?
I was just thinking about that. When you get breast reductions and you want to shape it and all do they use implants still?

    • ANSWER:
Sometimes they'll use implants but not all the time.

They'll usually do a breast reduction with lift, like they did with me.

  39. QUESTION:
Is it possible to breastfeed after having breast reduction surgery?
I had a breast reduction when I was 17 and now I'm 25 having my first child. I recall my doctor telling me that I probably wouldn't be able to breastfeed after having the surgery. I have heard stories of women breastfeeding after surgery, but there is no conclusive evidence that breatfeeding is affected by breast reductions. So, is it possible to breastfeed after having breast reduction surgery?

    • ANSWER:
It is possible, the only way to find out is to try! The concern is that when they removed tissue they may have severed necessary nerves or ducts. I highly recommend finding a qualified lactation consultant to work with you immediately after the birth. She will monitor your milk production and make sure your baby is getting enough. You can find a LC in your area at this link: http://kellymom.com/lcdirectory/index.html

  41. QUESTION:
Am I good candidate for a breast reduction?
I am 21 years old and have a 36D-34DD size chest. I know this isnt big at all compared to many women out there getting breast reductions, but I have some back pain, poor posture and an awful time exercising. Not to mention, it is terrible looking for clothes that fit and EVERYONE i meet comments on my chest at some point. Its a bit humiliating. I am just scared my chest isnt big enough compared to other women. What do you think?

    Thanks so much!

    • ANSWER:
my mom just recently had breast reduction at a 36D. she is beyond happy! now, she always talks about how she dosent need a bra under her built-in bra in her work out clothes, she also loves to wear v-necks (which she couldn't before). i think that you would be a great candidate fot the procedure. just find a good well known surgent and you'll be on your way. the only down side is that the recovery is a pain in the butt, and it leaves nasty scars but theres loads of scar creams out there that will fade them relitivly quickly.
-best of luck and go for it!

  42. QUESTION:
Is it true breast reductions, they can grow back? seriously?
Relative told mom that she shouldn't get breast reduction,
bcause they sometimes grow back anyway. I have never heard of problems with breast reduction so please answer
It is not vanity, 19 year old with severed backaches from the size. Leads to headaches from the stress of the back pain. Uncle saying, waste of money, he's heard they grow back or have to be redone, common for things to go wrong due to surgery.

    • ANSWER:
Unless she gains an insane amount of weight, takes hormones, or gets pregnant, no they do not grow back.

  43. QUESTION:
If a woman get a breast reduction, what can she expect in scarring and nipple sensitivity?
My wife is considering breast reduction to reduce the strain on her back, but we are concerned about scarring and loss of sensitivity. How safe and esthetically pleasing are breast reductions? Will there be noticable scarring and loss of nipple sensitivity? How does one choose the best doctor when one does not have any friends to consult that have had such a procedure?

    • ANSWER:
I had one done a few yrs ago and the scarring is minimal cuz its all underneath the nipple. The nipples do temporarily lose feeling but I was lucky enough to regain mine after about 5 wks. The recovery is painful and messy(bleeding and blistering) but then again no pain no gain, right? Good luck! Go to American Board of Plastic Surgeons website and schedule a consultation with several drs. b4 choosing 1, also look at photos of their past work(good and bad). Any reputable dr would have a photo book documenting his/her prior work!

  44. QUESTION:
After a breast reduction will your brests return to their normal shape?
I had a breast reduction 2 weeks ago. My breasts are flat below and kind of fleshy on the side. I've seen pictures of women who have had breast reductions and they look just like mine. I was wondering if they will always look like that or will they return to a rounder shape?

    • ANSWER:
What type of incisions did they do? The Le Jour (aka "lollipop") or the Anchor method??

It is only two weeks since your operation.

It takes up to one year for your breasts to get to their final size.

Give it a few more months and you will see them drop into shape.

      Congrats!

  47. QUESTION:
i need a list of insurance companies that will cover breast reductions or lifts?
    insurance companies,breast reductions,& breast lifts

    • ANSWER:
Most insurance's will cover this procedure but you have to meet the criteria. Your doctor will have to contact your insurance company and give your measurements, weight and sometimes a picture.
You will need evidence of visits to your doctor complaining of chronic back and shoulder pain.
Your insurance company will always want you to lose some weight, like 10 to 20 pounds depending on your size.
They wil not pay for a lift for cosmetic reasons but reductions are lifts.

  48. QUESTION:
How many teenage girls have a breast reduction?
My teenage daughter is finished growing. Her breast size is E. She hates this and her back and neck hurts , plus has related headaches. I would appreciate any information about breast reductions. This also reflects her opinion of her body...she is really hurting. She does wear a very supportive bra. I don't have this problem. Please help...thank you
She is 5'7 and about 15 pounds overweight, but loosing weight would not help...although she is working on her weight. Thanks
    She is 5'7

    • ANSWER:
Ok, first of all take her to be refitted at a lingerie store that has a decent range, when i was 17 i was having the same problems and i was wearing a 36DD, turns out i was actually a 34G and now i am a 32K at 19. All the symptoms you are listing are from badly fitted bras. It's hard to be large chested. Especially if she gets a lot of attention from it and she's a naturally shy girl. I would suggest maybe even taking her to talk to the family doctor and see if they will do anything. My doctor said to me they don't like to do breast reduction surgeries on women younger than 25 due to the hormonal changes. So maybe get her to wait it out. If she is overweight it's due to her breast size. You need to tell her that. I weigh around 190pounds, but a found out at least 15 pounds of that is breast tissue (other part is mostly my butt, but we won't talk about that now). So try to keep her weight out of it. Also is she using the contraceptive pill? That can cause breast growth, i tried the non-estrogen one, but it didn't make a difference, so maybe it might work for her? But yeah, best thing you can do for her right now is take her to get fitted for a bra size. Even get her to have a look around on the bravissimo website and see if she can learn to love her body. If all else fails she may need counselling, this is normal of teenage girls as at least 25% of them have depression and this mainly stems from body issues. So try the counselling as well. And if it really comes down to it as a very last resort then go for the surgury. But be warned, it may fix her breast size, but it won't fix her self worth issues.

  49. QUESTION:
Has anyone had a breast reduction done by a Navy doctor?
I've heard from women who have not had a single problem with getting one done by a Naval surgeon,(or just military in general) but I just wanted to hear more opinions. My husband is active duty, and my breasts are giving me back problems. I was also wondering if there is a lot of scarring afterwards. I love to run, but I don't love wearing 3 sport bras, lol, and the back aches are terrible. So any information about breast reductions would be very helpful. Thanks!
I said breast "reduction" Alexzander A...but thanks for your sarcasm...real funny
I've already got the papers in work, and they said I am covered to have it for free in a couple months. Maybe it's becuase I'm in a different area than you becuase all the women I spoke with said they got it done for free.

    • ANSWER:
I was in the Navy 1994 - 1998 and I did not trust the Navy doctors at ALL!

You've got to find someone who has done plenty of breast reductions and make sure you look at their before and afters (and how long after) as well as getting recommendations.

Scarring can take up to a year to fade. A good surgeon and a good patient will help the scars to fade. Scarguard and Mederma were excellent on my scars.

I have TONS more information about mine if you want to hear it, send me your email and I'll send it to you.

  50. QUESTION:
    Breast reductions and paperwork?
What's with all the paper needed to get United Healthcare to pay for breast reduction? I was asked by my plastic surgeons office for more letters from my doctor and OBGYN regarding letters stating medical necessity. Is this normal? I already had them send their chart notes. They are all giving me a hard time getting a letter. Though they all agree that I need a reduction from my 44DDD or larger to a C cup. Do these insurance companies really think it is cosmetic? Pictures of my enormous ones and the rash and indentions aren't enough? A colleague had it done with the same measurements as me and she didn't need anything to get covered by United Healthcare. Any incite to this is greatly appreciated.

    • ANSWER:
I had no issues with mine and I have UHC (I didn't even need letters from doctors or weight loss or anything like that! Just pictures the PS took), but different plans have different requirements.

Bug them till they get a letter out to the insurance company/PS.

      Good luck!
