Breast Reduction And Lift

Breast Reduction is the only real functional cosmetic surgery, with the aesthetic aspect more a seconday issue. Large breasts, are not only a cause of social hesitation, they can cause severe allergy and infection in the infra mammary line, as well as deep marks on the shoulder due to bra strap marks and shoulder pain due to the heavy breasts. The clothing pattern suffers, and the lady is not able to wear tighter clothes. Breast reduction surgery is the only way to correct large breasts. The problem is the scars. Conventionally there is a large scar on the lower aspect of the breast which many women find objectionable. However newer techniques of short scars is now available

A comparison of the surgical techniques

Conventionally the T scar technique, also known as the Anchor scar technique or the wise pattern technique is used. The advantage of this technique is the immediate results in terms of the breast shape. There is no need to wait for long periods to get an idea of the breast shape. It is faster to do, easier to teach and has predictable results. It is easier to do more skin resection with this technique, and hence there is a greater flexibility in breast shaping, the volume desired etc, with a T scar technique. The scars tend to settle a lot over time. The downside of the procedure is the long scar under both the breasts. But my teacher in Brazil used to tell me, that for women, breast shape is more important than the scars.
When we talk of the short scar procedures, popularised by Dr Ruth Graf, in Brazil, who I have trained under, this is an excellent procedure for someone who is scar conscious. The shape is good, however it may take upwards of 3 months to get a final pleasing shape of the breast. Literature quotes a percentage of upto 30% who may require a revision to correct the bunching that occurs over the stitch line. The skin that is removed in the short scar technique is more from the upper quadrant of the breast, and thus there is a chance of spreading of the peri-areolar scar, which may need to be revised.
Thus a lot of the decision making depends on consultation with the patient.

Now a scarless technique by way of VASER is also available. more details are available onhttp://divinecosmeticsurgery.com/innovations.html#bl1

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
did you or do you know anyone who has had breast reduction/lift surgery?
and you were still able to breastfeed?

I had a breast lift/reduction (no implant) after i had my son and i am curious if i could breastfeed again.the doctor did reduce the size of the aerola via cookie cutter method so im not sure if he damaged anything yet.gotta wait until b.feeding the next baby to find out.

did you have it or know someone who has had it and was able to breastfeed?

    • ANSWER:
As long as they didn't damage the nerve that sends the impulse from the nipple to the brain that tells the brain to make the milk you should be fine. How do you know? Are your nipples numb? Can you feel it when you or someone else touches your nipples? If so, you should be fine. If you can not feel your nipples then there might be a problem. But, like you said there just is no way of knowing until that time comes. There is a gadget called a supplemental nurser system that allows you to put the baby to breast but tube feed formula while having the baby breast feed so it is like simulating breast feeding. That certainly is an option. Moms who have adopted babies have done this as well.

I have had a breast reduction and lift surgery but I waited until I had all of my children, but I will tell you that I had breast milk leaking from my breasts after my surgery for several years. Not sure why!

I hope it works out for you!

  2. QUESTION:
Can a breast reduction and a breast lift be done at the same time?
I am going to the plastic surgeon for a consultation for breast reduction surgery. I have heard several woman say that now they have small flat breasts now. Can I get mine lifted during the breast reduction surgery to avoid having two surgeries?

    • ANSWER:
Yes you can have a breast lift with the reduction. 99% of reductions have breast lifts included!

I had mine reduced and lifted Feb 2006 (38J to 38C) and it was covered by insurance 100%.

  3. QUESTION:
Does breast lift means also a little reduction?
I was thinking about doing a breast lift but with NO implants. I'm a D cup and I don't want to go to a B or smaller. I just want a breast lift. Does breast lift means breast reduction too?

  4. QUESTION:
Is it ok in Islam to receive cosmetic surgery such as a breast reduction or breast lift?
Well, my muslim friend asked me this and she has large droopy breast that she would like to get done. She wants to know if it is ok to get the surgery if it really bothers her.

    • ANSWER:
Sure! She should get it if its causing her any pain, its well worth it.

  5. QUESTION:
do doctors do a breast reduction and a breast lift at the same time?
I want to reduce my breast size, but also have them lifted. Can a doctor do both procedures at once, or do I have to go a second time?

    • ANSWER:
the way a breast reduction is done, a lift is naturally part of the process. the cut around the nipple, down the middle of the breast and underneath. breast tissue is removed, then the breast is sewed back up. since everything is taken out from underneath, it is like a lift.
i had a breast reduction in oct 08 and mine are still perky.

  6. QUESTION:
What's the difference between a breast reduction and breast lift?
    How do the scars differ?
    Which is cheaper?
    Which one is better?
    Which gives better results?
I know what they are i need to know which is best.

    • ANSWER:
      Reduction REDUCES

      Lift LIFTS

No difference in scars (actually I laugh at the whole scar issue, a good PS and a good patient will ensure there are hardly any scars, Mederma and ScarGuard are also excellent.).

      BOTH should be done.

      BOTH give great results.

My reduction with lift was covered 100% by insurance!

  7. QUESTION:
Is a doctor supposed to charge a seperate fee for a breast lift even after the insurance paid for a reduction?
My insurance paid for a breast reduction but my doctor said I would have to pay an additional fee for a breast lift. The fee is 00. Otherwise I would have a saggy breast reduction (that is what the insurance pay for- a simple reduction). Is this true? and is the breast lift for the additional fee worth it?

    • ANSWER:
Get breast reduction and breast lift surgery in India. Cosmetic Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for American and Canadian patients, as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got a couple of cosmetic surgery procedures in India like the breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift through the forerunners healthcare. She is more than very happy with the results. She just paid 30% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. I personally have seen the wonderful results and am particularly impressed with the kind of quality care she got from this company. I hope this helps.

  8. QUESTION:
Is it bad to get a breast reduction/ lift now if I want to have children in a few years?
I'm only in college but I have suffered from back pain for many years already. But would it be pointless to have the surgury before kids? I mean your breasts get bigger and then can sag after breast feeding so, wouldn't it just make the surgury pointless?

    • ANSWER:
It definitely won't be pointless, especially considering your back pain issues.

I had a reduction done last year and am still planning on having kids. I have no more back pain due to my breasts so it is definitely not pointless.

Here are a few sites to check out:

http://www.breasthealthonline.com (this site helped me out so much, I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have that one before and after my surgery).

http://www.bfar.org (this site talks about breastfeeding after reduction).

  9. QUESTION:
    breast reduction/lift concern!?
i would like to get breast lift and reduction.. im a size d cup and would like to be a C cup. im done having children.i work out and ive lost 10lbs and i would like to lose another 15=20 so i can be at 125lbs... but i wanted to know
what are the chances of a breast reduction and lift suregery going fatal?..
im so nervous... and does anybody know how much or less it costs..
    thanks..

    • ANSWER:
its a common surgery but if you are just going from a d to a c, you will pay for it yourself, it is going to run you around ,000 with surgery, anesthisia, and hospital stay.

if you were bigger insurance would cover it, but for insurance to cover they have to take atleast a pound of fat from each breast...a pound of fat is a lot more than you would think it is.

i would try losing the weight first and seeing what that does for you then go in for a lift, whick will be cheaper.

and pretty much why it would be fatal (and im not saying the only reason) is something going wrong with the anesthesia.

  10. QUESTION:
Breast reduction, breast lift, or get over it?
I'm 22 and have a natural F cup. I've lost weight but that didn't change my breasts one bit (in fact, it's only made them seem bigger).

I've always accepted some of the things that came with it - I just don't enjoy running or jumping, I watch how I dress, I realize I don't fit into most clothes in average stores (small waist and big breasts). I've long accepted it, because I never liked the idea of changing whatever I am by nature. I don't really feel like I am in a position to complain about what nature gave me - it can be uncomfortable, but there are so many worse things. Reduction surgery has been suggested during my teens (because I had to stop ballet lessons since my posture kind of went to hell) but I said "No, this is just what I am."

That attitude is getting weaker with age, though. So are my boobs - they're sagging. It's not pretty. I feel uncomfortable without my bra, even if I'm alone in my pjs, so to speak. I've become uncomfortable with them, and it's increased my longing to fit into normal tops and be able to run and jump without being self-conscious.

I just really don't know what to do. I still very much dislike the idea of plastic surgery to alter my appearance, but I'm about to reach my limit for as far as limiting myself goes. I want to be able to do normal things (buy normal clothes, run around) without being self-conscious and constantly worrying about my breasts. I want to go to the pub and not ONLY get comments on my breasts.

Any women who have experience with breast reduction, lift or in fact keeping their large breasts the way they are?

    • ANSWER:
i had a breast reduction in oct 08 and it was the best thing i ever did. i was a 32DDD/E. everything hurt me, i had grooves in my shoulders from the straps and grooves from the under wire. to do any sort of sports activity, i would need to wear 2 sports bra and a super tight tank top with built in bra just to hold the girls in place.

for me, i knew it was medically necessary and love the results of the surgery. but surgery is not for everyone. it is up to you to decide if you want to get it done. it was a 5 year fight since the first 2 insurances i had denied me, despite letter after letter from my doctors and me. but in the end it all worked out.

  11. QUESTION:
    Question about breast reduction/lift (i'm a teen)?
    hello
i have back problems and my breasts are a size 34 DD
this might not seem large, but i pop out of all bras and theyre either too big or too small
also, i guess i will need a breast lift since my nipples face down to the floor.. not out

im planning on having the breast reduction covered by insurance, and paying for a lift since that's not covered

how much does a lift cost?
also, has anyone had either or both of these procedures done?

im 16, i will be 17 in the summer. i know everyone is going to say im too young but i have a struggle with this everyday, i cant wear any fitting shirt because i pop out of my bra, and i cant wear any v neck or even slightly low neck shirts because i sag

this is a major problem in my life, and i need to save up money for my whole senior year of high school to pay for the lift

anyone know how much it will be?

also, the only "con" ive read of having this done is that you most likely wont be able to breast feed... im only 16 and did not exactly want to do this anyway but is that all?

    share your stories please!

    • ANSWER:
I feel for you hun!! I am 24 years old and had a breast lift done about 10 monthes ago. I struggled all throughout high school with large, sagging breasts and bras, swimsuits and even regular shirts never fit me right. I had wanted a lift since I was 16 years old as well, just never got it done. I now have two children and after having my daughter in 2007 my husband and I agreed that now was the right time to get it done. I went to several doctors for consults and I got prices as low as 2,000 for the lift. I ended up paying about 9,000 total for my lift. Make sure you look at before and after pictures because that's how I picked my doctor...look at their creditials and make sure you get more than one consultation. I paid alot more for mine, but I wanted the best....and I got the best. If you looked at my before pictures you wouldv'e thought it was a 60 year old woman, not a 23 year old. While 9,000 was our entire savings, it was the best decsion of my life. I am so happy now to have normal c cup breasts that are firm and round. I can actually go without wearing a bra if I want to which I was NEVER able to do!!! I also had larger sized nipples and they reduced those down to normal size as well which I love! Since the nipples are removed and re-attached during surgery I will most likely not be able to breastfeed again because the milk ducts were cut so that is something to think about if you want to breastfeed.

Recovery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but then again I had two kids with no pain meds! lol You def. needs lots of rest...I tried going back to work after a week and it was just too soon.....you need about 2-3 weeks off of work and then light activity after that for a week or so. Most plastic surgeons will do a consult for free so just go in and have a consult done, even if you aren't getting it done right now. they will give you alot of information to think about since every case is different! Good luck!!!

  12. QUESTION:
    breast reduction? Lift?
I had to repost.. was wondering what i should do.. I had my son five months ago and now my breast are saggy and I hate it.. I am wearing at 34D right now (VS worker put me in it) but sometimes they fall out kinda and make it look like im falling out of my bra and so I tried going to a DD but it was too big. I want to fit into a C or even a D with out the extra skin (saggy skin) should I get a breast lift... reduction? I wear sports bras on a daily basis and my back does hurt I used to be a DD so ive been dealing with it.. it just sucks having to wear a sports bra everyday and they still dont look good.. I want them to look good..HOW?

  13. QUESTION:
Can I get breast reduction/lift and weight loss surgery on the NHS?
I'm 17 years old, and I have been trying to lose weight for about 8 years.
I've tried many methods, but none of them have worked.
I have tried dieting, exercise regimes, acupuncture, and many prescribed medications (such as pills that stop my body from absorbing a third of fat from food).
As a result of being overweight and unable to lose any lbs, I became a recluse and barely left my home in two years. I got paranoid and had to leave education as a result. I was 15 at the time and I have not been able to go back and do my GCSE's because of my insecurities. Would I be able to get weight reduction surgery on the NHS? Baring in mind that I honestly have tried to lose weight, and kept to plans for long amounts of time before giving up.

As for my question about breast surgery, I have a 56 inch chest, and as a consequence my back suffers. When I exercise it's quite painful just because of the weight of my breasts. I also get a lot of infections underneath my breasts as they are so large and create a lot of heat. Will I be able to get a breast lift on the NHS?

I'd rather not have you comment me just to tell me I shouldn't rely on the NHS, because I know I should pay for these surgeries myself, but I can't leave the house for social reasons, let alone to get a job and leave the house several times a week.

Thanks in advance for your help!
Oh, and also, as this seems to be something that people assume; I don't eat over-sized portions. I don't eat unhealthy food constantly. My day-to-day diet is actually better than most peoples. I don't eat until I'm full, and I don't give in to all of my hunger pains. I've learnt a lot about weight loss and foods, and I put all that knowledge to use.

Also, please do not assume that in the years I have been struggling with my weight that I have been sitting on my arse all day waiting for a miracle. That couldn't be further from the truth. I have pushed myself past the pain barrier many times, and there was never a result. I made sure that I stuck to my regimes for a long period of time before I gave up on them - I know you can't lose weight in a week or two, it's a long term thing.

  14. QUESTION:
Possible Nerve Damage after Breast Lift/Reduction?
I had a Breast Reduction / Lift in July of this year. I have had a pretty much normal recovery with no complications until now. I am now experiencing a pain that radiates from directly up under my right breast, that radiates all the way to the middle of my stomach (directly above the belly button).

When I lift my right breast up with my hand, I can feel and see what seems to be a raised vein (which leads all the way down to the middle of my stomach) up under the skin, and when I press on it, it is painful. Is this a nerve that i am seeing and feeling, that has been pulled up into the breast possibly, or a vein that was pulled too tight?

I called my Dr., and my nurse told me to take Aleve or Advil for 5 days straight, and follow the exact directions. She told me to come in if the meds don't work (which they haven't. Is this normal, or something I should be worried about? HELP!!

  15. QUESTION:
Ladies: I was just wondering would you have a breast reduction/lift or even implants if you had a chance?
Hello ladies and thank you for tanking the time to respond. I am a medical doctor and I was just wondering would you ever consider having breast work done? Please list your age, your current bust size, and the reasons you would or would not have this procedure done? If money wasn't the deciding factor would that change your mind? Thanks for your time.

    • ANSWER:
Absolutely would have a reduction. I'm 30, size 36G (or quad D as I've been told). I'm athletic so they're totally in the way - I have to wear 2-3 sports bras. Clothes don't fit right a lot of the time. I have lots of neck and upper back pain. I've tried to get a reduction twice and was denied by my insurance both times. They (my insurance) want me to have all these crazy tests - lung expansion test? and x-rays to show deformity in my shoulders...since I've already spent $ on consultations, I didn't want to spend anymore on tests that may not get me the approval anyway. Now I figure I'll wait til after I have kids and then pay for it myself if I have to.

  16. QUESTION:
Could a breast lift/reduction be covered by insurance?
    I have back/shoulder/neck problems
    and DD cups
What process would I have to go through to ensure that it would be covered?

    • ANSWER:
Yes it can, insurance covered mine 100 per cent.

First you need to find out if you need a referral from a family doctor, or if you can see PS's on your own. See at least three. The PS's will fill out the necessary forms and take pictures and your symptoms down (back pain, grooves in shoulders, etc) and hand it in to the insurance company.

      Good luck.

  17. QUESTION:
Women please help me!! -- About breast lift or reduction?
Have you or anyone you know had breast reduction or breast lift?
Are you or is she happy with the results?
What about ugly scars or less than perfect breast shape?
Please tell me as much as possible. I have been thinking about breast reduction (currently a DD/DDD cup and not happy about it)
please tell me about your experience

    • ANSWER:
I have had it. from a size I (yes there is such a size, and the bra was actually too small) to a big C or small D. I woke up with no back ache for the first time in years, and I was amazed at how much my symptoms lessened or vanished altogether. I was sore from surgery of course, but it was a good pain as I knew it was temporary. I wish I had not waited so long (50). The first few days were not so pleasant, but they do give you drugs for that. there were drainage tubes on the side of my breasts but they were not really a bother. I used Mederma on my scars and they are nearly invisible now after 3 years. I had numbness in my one breast for a couple years (that happens at times when the reduction is so much and that breast was actually 3 sizes bigger than the other one), and feeling on the other one came back pretty quickly, but the nipples never lost feeling - the doctor did a "buttonhole" type surgery where the nipple stays intact and the breast is fitted around it after it is repositioned - like a button being put into a different button hole on a shirt. my hubby and kids took me to a restaurant to celebrate when I could leave the house after surgery, and I actually had tears in my eyes. they wanted to know what was the matter, and I said "nothing, it is the first time I have ever reached for something on the table at a restaurant without worrying about my clothes getting food on them because of my breasts!" I can serve a volleyball, hold a sleeping newborn grandson without fear of suffocation, (my daughter in law cruely called me "granny booby" when she was talking to her sons and my oldest grandson used to call my breasts "grandma's big fluffy pillows"), i can now go braless (!), wear a swim suit and not worry about comments - and I have heard them all, if I am in a photo I am not embarrassed about being a focal point and taking over the picture blocking others out if I turned slightly sideways, I can jog - heck, even just walk - without it hurting. I could go on and on. Regrets? not even for one second! Well the only regret is waiting so long, but I did not want to hurt my hubby's feelings for me by getting them done. when I finally approached him about it he said "go for it, ever since you had the kids those things have taken on a life of their own. To tell you the truth, they scare me to death!" He had wanted to tell me to get a reduction, but thought I would be offended!!! giggle, no way. GO FOR IT! My insurance paid for it btw, as it was a health issue according to the doctors because of the heaviness causing back and neck pains and also other health issues, such as breathing problems and tissue was tearing away under the breasts where they met the chest wall - I also was raw underneath at the bra line and bled a lot. (I could never figure out why people think it is so cool to get them made bigger on purpose larger than a D. they have no idea of the problems it causes). Carefully follow your doctor's advice after surgery and do NOT rush any of the steps, it is important for best results. make sure your surgeon is certified and look at before/after pics of what he/she has done before. I felt totally at ease with my surgeon, and she had the expertise and credentials that backed up my feelings. My surgeon's site is below in case you want to know more about the surgery - it is a great site. Look at procedures and before/after photos besides other parts of the site. (it is not to advertise for her, but to give people a basis of what is done for breast reduction surgery). Best wishes!

  18. QUESTION:
    BREAST LIFT/REDUCTION HELP!! ASAP!?
i'm 18, i weigh roughly... 130-135, 5'3", and i had DD and went down to about a C. i had a breast reduction along with a breast lift.

-i'm curious to know how long will the breast lift last.

-if i decide to have kids in my future if that is going to effect them negatively..

    - if i decide to lose weight in the future, if that will also effect them negatively.

help would be appreciated greatly! (:
No, the procedure didn't hurt at all. I made sure i took my pain pills every few hrs as prescribed, for the first few days only though, after that the pain subsides, and i only take the pain pills about 1-2 times a day (it's been a week since the surgery.) it really didn't hurt, which i was surprised to be honest, i thought it'd be worse than it is, the only thing that bothers me is sleeping on my back a lot right now, i usually sleep on my stomach lol. it's worth it to be honest, very.

    • ANSWER:
as long as you keep your new girls supported, gravity shouldn't take effect for a long time to come.

if you are able to breast feed it is possible that your boobs with get bigger and it is possible that they will get that deflated look. everyone is different.

if you gain weight, they will get bigger, if you lose weight, probably not, since there is not a lot of excess "fat."

  19. QUESTION:
Are a breast reduction and a breast lift pretty much the same thing?

But if I get a reduction won't the doctor have to lift them up anyway? I'm trying to decide which will be the most effective and economical. I can't afford both.
I guess the lifting is what I really want but at the same time I believe if I hadn't been so large in the first place I wouldn't need a lift. In other words, even if I get the lift, if they are the same size, they will eventually sag again in the furture. So maybe I should get the reduction? I'm only a 36D but after breast feeding 3 kids, I'm not perky anymore.

    • ANSWER:
You know you can get insurance to cover your reduction, right? If you have health issues because of your breasts they will cover it. Mine covered mine 100% and I did not need documentation.

99.9% of the time a lift is included in a reduction. The other 0.1% is just Plastic surgeons looking for more money from you IMO.

A reduction only takes out tissue, whereas a lift LIFTs them up and makes them perkier.

  20. QUESTION:
Breast lift, reduction, implants; can I get all three?
I need help deciding what kind of procedure I will need.
I am a 34DD and would like to go down to a D. The thing is, I am 19 and my breast aren't as lifted as I would like to be. The idea of having the freedom of never wearing a bra and having the confidence that they will never go saggy is fascinating so I would also like to get a "boob job." Is this possible? Does this even make sense?

    • ANSWER:
Talk to a qualified Plastic Surgeon. Ask if he is board certified and look for the certification on his wall. He will be able to tell you more after he examines your breasts.

  21. QUESTION:
What would be better, a breast reduction or breast lift?
    Happy new year everyone. :)

I am definitely making big changes this year, one of the biggest being my decision to have something done with my breasts. I am done with these big boobies. Done. Done. Done. I've been wanting a breast reduction for the longest time now, but I'm still in the early process. I go back for another appointment on Tuesday, to look over my spine x-rays and take the next step. My doctor agreed to refer me to a plastic surgeon, but she wanted me to get x-rays, so we could rule out any other issues that could be causing my back pain. (Which is obviously due to the heaviness of my breasts).

But, my sister's best friend recently put another thought into my mind- a breast lift. I'm 18 years old, and my friend doesn't think I should get a reduction, but a breast lift instead. She thinks that I am too young for a breast reduction, and fears for me that I won't be able to breast feed when I have children someday...(because I do want children, and I do want to breastfeed... even though I wouldn't mind if I end up not ever breastfeeding) She says that with a lift, I could get the perkiness that I want without having to cut away at my boobs too much, I guess. I really don't know. I've seen tons of photos of breast reduction and lifts before and after- and I honestly couldn't tell the difference with half of them.

Which would you recommend? Right now I am a 40 DD according to when I got measured a few months ago. My weight also flucuates and I am sure that I'll lose more weight soon. Maybe too much that I won't even qualify for a breast reduction? I'm currently 175 lbs.

As I said before, my appointment is Tuesday, so any advice would be great.

    Thank you!
@Jets- Right, but even if I do get a lift, won't they sag if I end up breast feeding? That would just defeat the whole purpose.

    • ANSWER:
A reduction. You can actually get a lift done at the same time. You can ask your surgeon if you think you need one. Definitely lose the weight you want to before the surgery. Boobs can get smaller with weight loss. Also, you dont want to get a reduction, then lose the weight and have them get too small or saggy! You may not be able to breastfeed after the surgery. However, girls with big boobs usually can't breast feed anyway because the baby suffocates in all that extra boob. I had a reduction from a 28G to a D. I feel much much better, especially my back, but even my shoulders and neck because my posture has improved.

  22. QUESTION:
Is their a lot of scaring after breast reduction/lift?
I'd like to know from people who might have had this kind of surgery. I'm hoping there is hardly any scaring at all. And if it turned out how you thought it would, looking natural.

    • ANSWER:
There isn't a lot of scaring and it looks natural as long as you get the tubular shape, dont get round because then it looks completely fake like Pamela Anderson.

  23. QUESTION:
Has anybody had a breast reduction and tummy tuck together? How long did it take you to recover?
I'm on a weight loss mission in 2007, and I'm hoping to lose 115 pounds.

I am hoping against hope that I won't have to have a ton of plastic surgery to achieve the kind of body I want, and I am desperately afraid of being put under general anesthesia.

Has anyone had both a breast lift or reduction and a tummy tuck at the same time under local anesthesia and sedation?

Also, how long did it take you to recover from the surgery? How long did you need to have someone at your home to help you?

    • ANSWER:
Tummy tuck and Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

      Hope this helps.

  24. QUESTION:
Have you ever gotten a breast reduction or lift? What do I do with my large chest?
How was your experience with a reduction or lift?

My breast are DDD. They hurt my neck and affect my posture. They are saggy and my skin is very loose. I can pull on it and lift an inch of extra skin. It's horrible. I desperately want a reduction and lift but I my husband and I haven't had kids yet. What are your opinions on this? Do I have any other options? (I am not over weight)

    • ANSWER:
Sorry for being a guy - I'll try to keep this short, but a few thoughts.

      1) Larger natural breasts will always sag a bit - it's their natural shape and definitely not something you should feel embarrassed or ashamed about. Very honestly it is all part of their charm, it certainly doesn't mean they're not attractive or sexy, and any half-sensible guy knows this (if that's on your mind).

      2) A breast reduction will not give you perfect, perky C cups - have you ever seen a lift/reduction being done? It makes me wince and I don't even have breasts. It doesn't carefully shrink back breast tissue - it chops chunks of it out. The result will certainly be smaller and higher, but there is significant scarring and the end result is not the same as naturally smaller perky breasts.

      3) A lift or reduction will involve removing and repositioning the nipple, so there's a high probability you will not be able to breast feed. Irrespective of that, there is a very high probability that your post-pregnancy breasts will be different (i.e. maybe bigger, maybe smaller, probably saggier) than they were before - having surgery now does not protect them from the changes all breasts go through during prregnancy, so they will be affected in just the same ways.

Clearly it's your body and your choice, but for what it's worth I encourage you to be proud of your curves just the way they are. What you describe sounds perfectly normal (and lovely!), and while no size is 'perfect' and I understand large breasts are not always the easiest to live with, they're certainly not all bad either and being a little saggy is honestly not a big deal, or at all unusual. Surgery is a very drastic option, and not one I would encourage anyone to take except as a last resort.

Whatever you decide I wish you luck. Stay smiley! :)

  25. QUESTION:
,Would you ever want a breast reduction, lift, tummy tuck or etc?
Hello everyone I am a medical doctor and surgeon and I was just wondering how many people would want breast work done? If you could also give your age, bust size, and a reason why or why you would not want this procedure done it would be greatly appreaciated? Also, does the cost of the operation hinder you from getting one done? Thank you for your time everyone.
Oh forgot to mention may I email you if I wish to talk to you further? Thanks for the help

    • ANSWER:
I am 25 years old I wear a 36 DD and I would love to have a breast lift and a tummy tuck. Everything looks worse after having a child.

  26. QUESTION:
Should I get a reduction or breast lift?
I am a 36 C and my breast are saggy. It's hell having saggy breast and I already 16. My breast hurt all the time, finding bra's are painful, and they sweat under neath all the time. It's a burden. If I have the money, should I just get a lift at 18 or 19?Thanks

    • ANSWER:
I would wait and see if at 18 you might find that your body has grown and they are the right size and all you would have to do is have a little lift if they are still a bit saggy. In till then finding good bra's that are supportive would help with the pain and baby powder under boobs might help with the sweat. Hope that things work out for you.

  27. QUESTION:
    breast reduction breast lift?
if you get a breast reduction it wont cost any money because its like a health issue. however if you just want to get a lift for them to be more perky beacuse mine are a little saggy, will it cost any money, if so how much.

if i tell the doctor that they are sagging and it hurts my back,
will it be free because of health or still cost money for a lift.

    • ANSWER:
a lift is part of a reduction, but in order to qualify for a reduction, you need to prove it is medically neccessary. make an appointment for a consultation with a plastic surgeon and they will submit the paperword to your insurance.
      mine was covered at 100%

  28. QUESTION:
What are the risks of a breast reduction?
And what is the difference between a breast reduction and a breast lift?

    • ANSWER:
In a reduction they reduce the size of your breasts, and usually do a lift at the same time

In a lift, they work with the muscles to physically LIFT the breasts from their current position - usually without reduction

there are many risks - of course any time you are put under there is a risk - infection is a huge risk - there is the risk of not being able to breast feed - and a botched plastic surgery procedure can lead to several complications

i have considered it myself as I have large breasts - but i have decided to wait until i'm all done having children - cause they will only get worse, and it is very important to me to breast feed (16 weeks pregnant!)

Be sure the DR you are going through is GOOD at what he does - ask to see previous pictures, patient testimonials - and maybe try to find somewhere you can research the DR and his past procedures to see any issues

  29. QUESTION:
Any woman had breast lift & reduction & regretted it? I want mine lifted & implants, but dr says go smaller?
I'm a 36dd & after 3 kids, I'm bottom heavy. I want them lifted & have implants to keep them the same size. Dr. says to have a reduction & lift - will go down to a C cup. Then if I want implants in a yr, come back. I don't want to wait a year and have an additional bill to pay. I might not have the money to do that! I also am not happy with going to a C cup - D cup I might be okay with, but I like my size and don't want to go smaller. My surgery is in less than 2 weeks and I am not sure if I should go through with it. I don't want to pay for something I am going to regret. Anyone had a similar experience and have any suggestions?

    • ANSWER:
I just had a breast reduction and lift two weeks ago. I was a 32FF and now I'm a 32C. I am thrilled. However, since you believe that C would be too small for you, perhaps you should consider just getting a lift. Then you will still be your D-DD cup and just be perky again. Get another consultation and ask for just a lift. I don't think that you should get implants, or that you need them! I can't see any reason why getting a lift would make them smaller. It is basically taking off the excess skin that has sagged and maybe moving your nipples. So, yes, check on just a lift. You will love it!

  30. QUESTION:
    Breast Lift? Breast Reduction?
Hi. Im looking into getting my boobs done, i dont like how my boobs look not in a bra, and i would like them lifted, do they remove tissue when lifting? i sort of wanted a bra size difference of one or two cups as i am a 32E at the minute. But is it essential and nessecary to get an implant put it when getting a reduction? is it possible for tissue to be removed and then reshaped and tightened rather than putting something in? Previous experience or general knowledge of this sort of thing would be helpfull =) thanks

    • ANSWER:
If you have problems with huge breast which is causing back pain and forces you to wear ill fitting clothes, then you should consider breast reduction surgery. Please check this site http://www.cosmeticsurgeryportal.co.uk/breast-reduction-surgery.htm

  31. QUESTION:
Breast reduction/ lift with implants added to give shape.?.?
Has anyone had a reduction then had implants added to give a better shape? I went to a doc. and he said I would never have those round looking breasts unless I was small and going larger. I want him to do a reduction then put in small implants to give me a good shape. Is this possible?
Marla I didn't ask your professional opinion. I asked if anyone has had this done. Read the whole question next time.

  32. QUESTION:
Which costs more money a breast lift or a reduction?
When you receive a breast lift is the size still the same, I still want them my regular size but I want them more perky. And also is it wise to get a lift before having kids?

    • ANSWER:
It can be covered by insurance, mine was covered 100% by insurance (the reduction with lift).

If they charge you separate for a lift, go to another PS.

IMO you should not just get a lift, considering even those breasts with a breast lift will sag again anyway, since they will be as heavy as they were before breast lift surgery.

So your option would be breast reduction with lift covered by insurance, or breast lift with implants NOT covered by insurance.

FYI, saggy natural breasts are 100000000000000000x better than perky fake ones.

  33. QUESTION:
    breast reduction/lift covered by OHIP?
I would like to get a breast reduction and lift....does anybody know if it is covered by OHIP? and what the qualifications for it would be?

    • ANSWER:
If your doctor can verify a medical need (i.e. back pain) that would be alleviated by the surgery, the reduction is generally covered by insurance. The lift part can be trickier though, since some companies consider that cosmetic. Best to call and speak with a customer service rep.

  34. QUESTION:
    Breast Reduction/Lift?
Ladies- I'm considering having a breast reduction, not much just a little extra weight off, and a lift. My breast are DD cup and I'd most likely take them down to an even C then have them lifted. I'm 35 and have children but I still look pretty damn good. It's just I hate that my breasts are no longer big and firm. And to me, big and saggy just won't due. I'm looking for stories, good and bad, from breast augmentations you've had. I don't like the thought of going under the knife for something so cosmetic, but I'm really beginning to feel depressed about them and exercise only builds them up minimally. Also, any advice on how to get my insurance to cover it would be helpful. I've heard the "complain to a chiropractor" tip already. Thanks.
To entangledhere, thanks for your input, did you pay for the proceedure yourself?

    • ANSWER:
I definetley know how you feel. I am 23 now, and I had a breast reduction when i was 18. I was a DD by the age of 16, and was having the same neck and back pain as you. As for insurance coverage...talk to all of the doctors that you see in addition to your primary care doc- i.e. your GYN, chiro, etc. and get them so write a letter stating why you need the surgery. The procedure wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I have never once regretted my decision. I am the biggest baby when it comes to pain, and it really wasn't that bad; it was actually worse to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out at once than this surgery. Im not really sure as to go about finding a good doctor in your area. I live in New Jersey right outside of New York City so I was recommended to a great doctor here by a family friend who had work done by this doctor. The post-surgery really wasnt that bad, it was uncomfortable and you couldn't use any strength in your arms or upper body because it requires use of you pecks, but only for about 2-3 weeks. After one week I was pretty much able to go back to work/ school as long as I didn't carry anything heavy or use much physical upper body strength. They will put you in a very tight sports bra type of bra with front closures right after your surgery and you will wear that for a couple of days before having your post-op visit with your doctor, which is when they will change it. The stitches will freak you out at first, but as soon as they come out and your scars start healing you will be very happy. I think that it is 100% worth it as it is the best decision I have ever made. Just be sure to take the pain killers that they give you and the recovery won't be as bas as they say. This was actually my second breast reduction surgery- my first one was a "liposuction" type of procedure where they thought they could suction out fat from my breasts, but it turned out that I didn't have much fat, it was all tissue- so I have quite a lot of experience with breast reductions. Good luck, and feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have. christyg721@yahoo.com. Good luck, you will be fine!!

  35. QUESTION:
    breast reduction and lift?
hello, i'm 14 and am thinking of getting breast reduction surgery as soon as i turn 18.
my bra size is 36D and they are kind of saggy, like this picture:
    http://www.realself.com/question/options-lifting-breasts

is it possible to reduce them to a C or B cup and lift them so they are nice and perky, like this ?
    http://www.locateadoc.com/pictures/patel-nikesh-19196.html
    ( the after photo )

    thanks!

    • ANSWER:
I'm 17 and my bra size is a 32GG! I have thought about a beast reduction for yeaaars, but I figured even if you have a reduction they'll get bigger and more saggy through out your life. I want to have children so I'm might consider doing it after children.
My own mum told me you may hate them now but when your 18 and all your friends are jealous you'll love them! I hated having big boobs now I've grown to love them :)

  36. QUESTION:
For women who have either had or are considering a breast reduction/lift, could you tell me what the procedure
consists of, how long recovery time is and if you are glad you had the surgery. My large sagging boobs are agonizing, but I am also terrified of surgery-so feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
It was really cool. Out of all the surgeries I had, not much pain at all. The doctor did the "key-hole" technique where they cut down and around the nipple, remove the excess tissue, then lift everything up and close. It was an almost 6 hr surgery and he removed 9 lbs. I woke up with an IV, a PCA (pain control pump) and a catheter. I had 2 drains, which he took out before I was discharged. It sounds very technical, but it was not bad. I had to stay wrapped with the ace wrap for over 6 weeks. I went back to work on the 3rd week. I felt great. And, after suffering with large, saggy breasts my whole life ( the final size was a 54i before surgery) i was very pleased to be a perky 48B. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. Best of luck to you.

  37. QUESTION:
    I'm considering a breast reduction/lift, should I wait?
Hi, I'm 22 years old, 5'9" and I am in shape with 36 DD. A lot of people would say " Oh that's the ideal body!" but to me it's not. My breasts are heavy, and they do make it hard for me to work out, and be as agile as I could be. I also have trouble fitting into dresses and tops. (by the way, they are natural) Since they are natural, they aren't as hi up on my chest as other girls have their breasts (especially breast implants are so high and perky). My breasts make me really self conscious, and they actually make me feel over weight because they are so big on my torso.

I'm thinking abouta breast reduction with a lift. Does anyone out there know what this procedure would entail? Also, I'm 22 and want to have children in possible 2 more years. Should I do this reduction ASAP, or wait until after children? (I heard that nursing makes breasts saggy, and I would hate to spend this money on my breasts, and they would just go back to how they were all over again)

    Thank you!

    • ANSWER:
definitely wait until after your children are finished breast-feeding unless you have lots of money to spend. not only does childbirth sag the breasts but it swells them when the milk comes in stretching the skin and then deflates them after. i was a 34B before and a 36DD during and a saggy droopy 36C after.
talk it over with you doctor and see what he thinks.

  38. QUESTION:
What are the pros and cons of a breast reduction?
Right now my bra size is a 40E and I've considered getting a breast reduction but I want to weigh out the pros and cons.

do I have to buy new clothes?
how long until I can get back to work?
does a breast lift really come with it?

    • ANSWER:
Cloths: you should be buying a smaller sized shirt, depending on how small you get them.
Work: 2 days to 6 weeks depending on the person and "complications" not included... complications are sadly more often than they should.
      Breast lift:
It should come with a lift as to get a reduction they normally cut in the same way as a lift is done. So one is automatically done.

Pros - it's an easy way to loose breast size
      cons - normally surgery problems
not really a solution to the problem
      no breast feeding...
      etc...

suggestion: look at natural ways of reducing them before surgery... loosing weight will be a better option with that size as you're allready a bit larger. Loosing 20 pounds will probably get you down two cups

  39. QUESTION:
Breast Lift/Reduction? what should i doo!!?
Im 20 and my breasts are 36DD and along the years while I heard tons of compliements about how they look, I don't think it is the case when I'm naked. While not to the extreme, they definitely do sag and I think have made it a issue in my head and I always feel ugly and inferior compared to other girls with smaller, firmer breasts.
It has bothered me to the point where I wouldnt let a guy see me naked when I'm standing up and I always feel uncomfortable being naked around my boyfriend.
So recently I've been considering gettng a lift or possibly a reduction.
The problem is I am EXTREMELY worried about the scarring that might result from the surgery. I dont want to have the surgery and end up with horrible scars and think "dammit, my breasts looked better before!"
but I am definitely not happy with the way they are right now/..and this issue has been controlling my life and im sick of it :(
    So...any advice?
Any methods with least possible scarring you know of!?

    • ANSWER:
Scarring is nothing if you have a good PS and are a good patient and know how to take care of your incisions.

Mine are hardly noticeable. I'd prefer scars over back pain anyday anyway.

Getting just a lift IMO is a waste of money, as your breasts will still be big and heavy and will just sag anyway.

Getting a reduction with lift, can be covered by insurance, and are great!

  40. QUESTION:
    Should i get a breast lift?/ reduction?
I'm unhappy with my boobs. im 22 and ever since i was 12 i've had boobs. I probably had a C cup when i was 14 and slowly went up to a E / F ! Bras are so expensive and hard to find. I can only shop at 1 store. I Always look top heavy in everything. I can't even shop for bikini tops. If i were this size adn they were fake i wouldnt have a problem because i wouldnt have to worry about saggy and pushing them up to make them look good. But in bikini tops the top tie hurts around my neck because of the weight and i have to keep tucking them in so they arent buldging out!

I've thought about a reduction.. but all the pictures i look up make me think my boobs would look better off the way they are now instead of with all the scars. I was wondering about a lift? But again the pictures i look up show VERY saggy boobs and the after pictures still make me think my boobs are better the way they are now.. I was even thinking about a reduction and then implants??
My boobs arent too saggy...yet. I'm in the process of lossing a little weight which will make them go back down to a DD but i always have a litle bit of sag. My boobs only look good in pushed up bras and so i cant wear cute tops because i always have to wear a bra.

I've added a picture ( with the nipples blocked out) keep in mind i took the piture with my arms up so they really arent sagging as much as they usually do.

Coul someone tell me which procedure would work best for my slightly saggy huge boobs? lol i dont know how else to say it. If i could change anything i would wish i had small boobs and then get implants so they are always perky and look great in clothes. help!

    • ANSWER:
      Hey,

I apologise for being predictably guy-like but I'm pretty much with Moe here I'm afraid - in all honesty you have absolutely perfect boobs, you need surgery like I need a third elbow.

I accept that your arms are missing in action so maybe they do look a little perkier than they might with your arms by your side, but your boobs don't sag - they're just the normal and proper shape of larger natural breasts - in fact they're extremely good examples of larger natural breasts. The only large boobs that would look substantially more gravity-proof than yours would be fake, and they're as sexy as... well, a guy with three elbows. And one eye. And a limp.

Now I feel bad for guys with one eye and a limp... but anyway you get my point.

I can certainly understand that larger breasts are not always terribly convenient, there's no way around that. However they have many upsides too, and frankly you really could wear any cute top you fancied if you were feeling brave - your boobs look fantastic without a push up bra, you need to adjust your expectations of them, and understand that they don't have to be strapped up under your chin to look good. Very good, in fact. :)

Anyway, I could ramble on all night - but essentially I can promise you your boobs are not saggy, they're actually in great shape, and although it's your body so if you want surgery that's entirely your call, personally I think the world is a better place for having them just the way they are. :)

Keep smiling, and be proud of your curves just the way they are - honestly, they're fantastic. :)

  41. QUESTION:
Has anyone had success in their HMO covering breast reduction and lift?
Also, has anyone used James R. Payne MD, located in Modesto, Califonia? Opinions, experience and cost--what did you think?

    • ANSWER:
Ask the HMO or the PS.

  42. QUESTION:
    Breast reduction/lift to help sagging?
I lost 45 pounds and now my breasts are about a B...but they sag badly. Before they did hang lower, because of their size? But now it looks like someone liposuction-ed them and they touch my ribs. I'm only 16 but my breasts look awful, and I want my breasts to look my age.

****Has anyone else ever had a reduction or a lift or both? If so, what is the pain/experience like? Do you think because I'm younger I have less risks? I hope everyone takes me seriously...I would really appreciate that. Thanks.
I really feel that I can't wait any longer to get it done...I'm seeing a plastic surgeon whose at a local hospital for a consult ASAP.

I feel my breasts are already developed and will only get worse with time.

    • ANSWER:
You sound as if you'd be a good candidate for some breast work at some point. I will say that you should probably wait another 3-4 years, or at least until your adult breast development is pretty much done.

Have you been evaluated, or have you gotten any doctor/s opinions regarding your breasts and surgical possibilities/options?

  43. QUESTION:
What are the details behind a breast reduction surgery?
I'm seventeen, but as soon as i started puberty when I was eleven I magically went from flat to a C cup within a handful of months. Now i'm a double D, and I'm petite. I'm a bit overweight right now and people tend to go "oh those will go down once you lose weight" but i've lost weight before, as much as 40 lbs at once, and they never go down. i'm losing weight right now, but i doubt it'll help any.

I have back pain daily and they are such a hassle with everything. I'm not ashamed of having large breasts but I'm not the type of girl who wants them so big lol. Like I said, i'm petite, and its just difficult.

So what I have been considering for a long time now is a reduction surgery. I've never been under the knife before, and although it doesn't frighten me it's still an experience that needs a lot of consideration.

Has anyone had it? I would like to go down to a small D/ full C.
When they operate do you sort of get a breast lift at the same time?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
A breast reduction includes a breast lift, and it can be covered by insurance. Find at least three PS's in your insurance plan and then choose. I ended up going with my second consultation so please see several.

      I went from a 38J to a 38C Feb 2006.

This site helped me out in my research a lot. Please check out the FAQ's section as well as the support and possibly apply for the picture board.

  44. QUESTION:
    Breast Reduction/Lift Post OP?
    Hey :) .

I plan to have a breast reduction done later on this year, around summer time (june/july) and I was wondering how long after the surgery do I have to wait until I can wear a normal bra and not those post op surgical bra things they give you.

I'm not trying to rush my recovery when I have the procedure done, nor am I unaware of the fact that my breasts will still be swollen and may not come down to the size I want them to within the first month or so, but I'd just like to know if anyone out there who has had the procedure done could share their experience on this topic :D . Also, I understand that I may still be in a considerable amount of pain within the first month and my swelling sort of depends on the type of procedure I have done.

I'm currently a 34DDD or 36DD but I plan to lose some weight, and at my goal size my (current) breasts will be out of proportion :( (they look that way even at my current size ...I'm slightly overweight and plan to tone up and slim down a bit). My dream size is 34B.

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
i had breast reduction in oct 08. at the end of november (one month later) i bought a regular bra with no underwire because i needed it to wear under a dress for an affair i was going to. at my 3 month post op appt i asked about wearing underwire. my surgeon said as long as i didn't have any numbness i could wear a underwire. at my 3 month appt, he also gave me the go ahead to resume all normal activities ( running, swimming, weight training, etc)

  45. QUESTION:
    About breast reduction/lift?
I have very big boobs which isn't the thing I find annoying it's that the shape of mine and they'e not very pert. It annoys me a bit and I thought if I ever had it done and I end up pregnant a few years later (as I'm very young know almost 18), will I still produce milk.
Because I you still will, they'll get bigger again and the shape will once again possibly sag again.
The main thing I'm wondering is will breast get bigger again after a reduction due to pregnancy or something if you will still produce milk?
If not i'd love to have it done as I've had this issue for a few years.
    Many thanks,
    xxx

      Hi
Next month will be the 3rd anniversary that I had my reduction. I probably met all the criteria to have it done via NHS however I was fortunate to receive some money and from the initial telephone call to the day I had the op took only 3 weeks !! I had wanted the procedure for nearly 20 years, as like you, I was 18 and from that moment on hated that I couldnt wear all the fashionable clothes or go swimming without feeling extremely miserable and self conscious.
3 years on ( and now in my early 40s ) I have put on a stone in weight. With this weight gain, I have gained a bra size, but this is mainly fatty tissue and not breast tissue and should be remedied by losing some weight.
Children have not come along however if they did I dont think this would have prevented me from having the surgery as I remember the many many years of feeling so miserable.
In answer to your question I do believe it is possible to regain in breast size both by putting on weight or pregnancy, however this would occur anyway without the operation. I was told that some milk ducts may be removed but apparently the success rate of being able to breast feed is very high.
I so wish I had this operation in my early 20s, as I do believe the delay in me making the decision to have the operation has held me back over the years.
It was the best thing I ever did and I wish you good luck with your decision. If you are only 18 now and mention that you have had several years of misery, im sure that this will transform your life for the better too. x

  46. QUESTION:
Does Breast Reduction Include Lift and Areola Resizing?
I am going to get a reduction but will the surgery leave me "hanging" or will it include a bit of a lift and resizing my areolas to match? Can you share your experiences with me on the subject?

    Thanks

    • ANSWER:
the way a reduction works, a lift it part of that.

however, for a nipple resizing, you will have to discuss that with your surgeon.

i had an excellent experience. feel free to contact me, i'd be happy to share.

  47. QUESTION:
Breast lift and Tricare. What are my options?
I have Tricare health insurance through my husband who is Active Duty Air Force. I would like to get a breast reduction and lift but I know Tricare won't pay since my situation isn't causing me metal or severe physical difficulties.

I have too much extra skin. I can pull up 2 inches of pure skin on both breasts and my cup size is a D so they are very saggy and uncomfortable to live with. I'm only 20 years old. If Tricare won't take me what are my other options?

  48. QUESTION:
Has anyone had a breast reduction?
I am 27 and wear a 38F, I weight 125lbs. I have wanted a breast reduction for a long time but have really been thinking about it lately with the back pain I have and posture. My concern is how they will look after, will they sad? I have heard that if you get a breast lift that involves a reduction? I need some advice and opinions. Thanks for all that you can give.

    • ANSWER:
First hand experience! I went from a G cup (seriously!) to a D in December of 2004. The surgeon took off 13 1/2 pounds from me - he said it was the largest he had ever done. I had three compressed vertebrae, was in constant pain and was tired of being gawked at. By far the best thing I've ever done. I was off work for three weeks. The first couple of days are painful, especially if you drainage tubes. Because the tubes are inserted into you, shifting positions can make you sore. They give you narcotic painkillers and your best bet is rest. I propped myself up on pillows, watched movies and just slept. My surgery was performed on Friday. My drainage tubes were removed on Wednesday (warning, when they pull them, it hurts like hades, but only briefly, once they're gone, the pain is pretty much over!). I took painkillers on Wednesday and Thursday morning. After that, it was plain Tylenol! I was a bit tired, but it really didn't hurt. Because of the stitches, they don't want you exercising or lifting anything. My Mum came to stay with me and took care of everything.

The relief in my back was immediate. Within two weeks post-surgery, my vertebrae had completely decompressed. I do have some scarring on my sides and underneath because he removed a huge amount of tissue, but the results are so stunningly beautiful! I still look in the mirror all the time and admire them, they're perky and cute! Thanks to the small ridge of scar tissue underneath, they will never sag. My surgeon also gave me a breast lift "since he was there anyway". I had full sensation back in all areas within three months.

If you have any back pain, it will automatically be covered by your insurance. I spoke to my insurance company and the representative told me it needed to get done as soon as possible because of my back problems. I picked a brilliant plastic surgeon on my HMO (he was recommended to me) and it cost me 5 out of pocket - and that included my six follow up visits.

Its amazing how wonderful it feels to have someone look in my eyes when they're talking to me now. No more "you should be a stripper" comments and people talking to your breasts. No more back pain. You can wear clothes you never dreamed of wearing before. Its truly amazing. Good luck to you! It will change your life.

  50. QUESTION:
Who here has had a breast reduction or lift or at least know someone who has?
I know I need to talk to my doctor about this, and I will, But first I want to do my own research. I've read all about the procedure and the risks and the benefits but I really want to talk to some people who have first hand experience. I want to know how it felt, if it was worse or better than they thought it would go, was it worth it, and if you have or have not experience complications. Please tell me about how it went and would you reccomend it to someone.

This site helped me out tons:

      http://www.breasthealthonline.com

I had it done Feb 2006, 38J to 38C, and I do not regret it one bit.

I had no pain after the operation, and my back issues were GONE.

I recommend this surgery for anyone who has big breasts and health problems. It will greatly benefit you!

There is much more I have to say, but it would never fit into this block, send me your email if you want and I'll send you my experience.
