Once you have decided to get breast implants, you still have some choices to make. One of those is where you want the incision to be made. As you will see, the type of incision and the type of filler you want go hand in hand. Discuss all of these options with your surgeon and make an informed decision. Here are your choices:
1. Transaxillary incision site- The incision is made in the armpit and, once healed, the incision is undetectable and no risk of scarring to the breast. You can choose to have placement of the breast implants over or under the muscle. However, because of the distance at which the surgeon is working, there is a chance that symmetry will be off.
Another issue is you are limited to saline only. Because silicones are pre-filled, they can not be inserted and moved all the way over for placement. Salines are filled once inside the tissue. Something else to consider is that the original incision can not be used for revision surgery.
2. Incframammary incision site - This is made in the crease under the breast and is one of the more common techniques. Symmetry is easy to achieve is because the surgeon places it directly where it needs to go without having to maneuver it behind and through a lot of tissue. You can choose over, under or partial-under muscle placement.
Because of the location of the cut, it is practically undetectable. However, if you decide to increase or lessen the volume, it is possible the old scars will be visible because of raising or lowering the crease. This option is not recommended if you are flat and have little tissue to create a crease.
3. Trans-umbilical breast augmentation (TUBA) - This incision is made at the navel. Yes, at your belly button. It is a new technique that is gaining a lot of attention because it doesn't involve cutting around the breast therefore avoiding scarring there. The scar at the navel is very small and shouldn't be pronounced. Recovery time is also reported as shorter and less painful.
Again, because there is no cutting of the breast tissue, there is little risk of damaging the nerves in the area. Placement can be above or below the muscle. However, you are limited to salines because of the distance they must travel. The surgeon has to tunnel them through tissue and though rare, may create track marks up to the chest area.
Symmetry is also a difficult task because of the distance. Because it is so new, there are few surgeons performing the procedure. If you want this incision site, make sure you find one with experience.
4. Areola incision site - This is made around the nipple and is also a very common choice. It has a tendency to heal very well and the scar is easily hidden along the edge of the nipple. It is easy to achieve symmetry from this location and you can choose over, under or partial-under muscle placement.
This is also a great choice if you plan to have a breast lift at the same time because a cut must be made around the nipple for the lift as well. If it doesn't heal properly, the scarring may be quite noticeable and there is a risk of damaging nerves.
If you choose under or partial-under muscle from this location, expect some severe discomfort. The surgeon has to push the muscle and tissue apart for correct placement.
Once you have found a board certified plastic surgeon, discuss all of your options. During your consultation, he will evaluate your body type and tissue mass to help determine the best method. Being informed and weighing your options is the best way to get the results you want.

QUESTION:
Breast Lifts?
I'd love to get a breast lift since breast feeding through the years has softened them up. I like to consider my breasts my finest assests. Anyone here have a breast lift and how much money are they? Also any way for insurance to pay for that? Thanks-
ANSWER:
The only way they will pay for that is if you have a reduction at the same time (I had my insurance cover my reduction with lift 100%).

QUESTION:
How do you feel about breast lifts after breastfeeding?
I ask this here because new moms sometimes breastfeed.
If someone had three babies.. and let's say their boobs got very saggy after.. like to where the nipples is even pointing down almost.
In this case, what do you think of a breast lift with a small implant?-
ANSWER:
I have 2 kids that I've breastfed and my nipples are on their way south. It's not breastfeeding that messes with your boobs- it's being pregnant and gravity. Breastfeeding doesn't make them any worse.
Anyway, I fully intend on getting a breast reduction after I'm done having children. I went from a 34C to a 40DD. I'm hoping they go away a little bit after I'm done nursing... but if they don't, I'll be getting a reduction/lift.
There's nothing wrong with putting your body back the way you want it. It might be a bit self centered and a bit vain...but, whatever- so is putting on make-up in the morning, waxing, plucking, shaving, etc. Surgery is just a little more drastic.

QUESTION:
Does OHIP cover breast reductions and lifts?
I cannot sleep on my stomach or my side as I can't breath well due to my breasts. I am 5'2 with 36 dd and I have also noticed that they are starting to sit lower. When my time of the month arrives my breasts are extremely sore and my back pain is quite bad.
Will OHIP cover my reduction and lift? I have heard that they do, just need clarification!
Thanks!-
ANSWER:
I believe that they only do if they are causing you to have extreme back pain - as it sounds like you are...I would talk to your doctor about it - (s)he will know for sure.
The biggest drawback to this surgery lies in the breastfeeding department - if you plan to have (more) kids, there is a VERY high chance that you will be unable to produce milk...

QUESTION:
Is there an exercise that lifts and tones your breast?
Im a 34DD in bust and I want to know is there an exercise that i can do in my home without weights that will lift and tone my breast? If so what are they cause I need to know asap!!!!!-
ANSWER:
Incline Bench Press
Set the bench to approximately a 50 degree incline. Using a barbell (long bar) with some weight lower the bar down to about 1 inch (2.5 cms) off your upper chest and push back up, that is one rep. Remember to lower the bar slowly, it should take around 3 seconds to lower and 1 sec to lift.Phase 1
Do 4 sets of 8
Example:
Incine Barbell Bench Press
4 x 8 @ 20kgs(40lbs) 2 minutes rest between setsIncline Dumbell Chest Flys
3 x 8
1 x 10 cable crossovers (or pec deck)
2 minutes rest between sets (except after the last set, go straight to a set of 10 cable crossovers or 10 pec deck without rest.) Repeat every 5 days for 4 weeks, then 1 week rest.Phase 2.
Flat Dumbell Bench Press
4 x 10 2 mins rest except after last set straight to 1 x 12 Dumbell Pullover3 x 8 cable crossovers or pec deck 1 minute rest between sets.
The Incline Barbell press is building muscular size in the upper chest area. This will help lift the bust. The Incline Chest Flys target the same area with a little more emphasis on seperation down the middle, helping with to defnie the shape. Flat Bench Press develops the mid portion of the pecs The cable crossover mostly targets the middle helping define the seperation.
That is 9 weeks total. You will now feel a difference, but this is just the begining......
If you do not have weights, try the bodyweight routine for your chest exercises women
Be sure to repeat the following workout 3 times per week for 6 weeks. Every 2nd day.Push ups, (don't you hate that) make sure your technique is correct. You can do ladies pushups by keeping your knees on the ground. Ideally you want to do your push ups on your feet, (regular push up) work your way up to it.
Make sure your whole body is aligned, i.e. knees, hips, shoulders all in a straight line. Make sure hands are wide enough apart so that your arms are vertical not angled. Do 4 sets until failure (failure means until you can't do anymore) rest for 2 minutes between sets. If this is difficult put both your hands on a step. As you get stronger, you can leave them on the ground.
The next type of pushup will help give you more of a stretch. Everything as above, but put one hand on a step and the other hand on the ground. Do 2 sets on each side. So right hand on step, left hand on ground, then left hand on step and right hand on ground.
The last chest exercises women will require a couple of small towels under each hand. Again in a push up position, but this time keep your hands close together beneath you, elbows bent, and slide them out sideways, until your chest is nearly touching the ground, then slide them back in again. Do 2 sets of 10 reps.So the chest exercises women body weight routine looks like this
1.Push ups (normal) 4 x F (f = failure) (2 mins rest between sets)
2.Push ups (one hand on step other on floor) 2 x F (right hand on step) (1 minute rest between sets) 2 x F (left hand on step)
3.Push ups - slide out and ins (2 mins rest between sets) 2 x 10

QUESTION:
Difference between Breast implants and breast lift?
I pretty much know everything about implants but what do they do for breast lifts? How much does it costs in comparison to implants? I don't necessarily want either one done, but i am just curious to how the procedure takes place.-

Implants are insertion of a silicone or saline pouch into the chest either above or below the pectoral muscle. Lifts just hike up the tissue that's already there. I have no idea how much it costs, but I imagine that it would depend on where and which doctor.

insurance companies,breast reductions,& breast lifts-
ANSWER:
Most insurance's will cover this procedure but you have to meet the criteria. Your doctor will have to contact your insurance company and give your measurements, weight and sometimes a picture.
You will need evidence of visits to your doctor complaining of chronic back and shoulder pain.
Your insurance company will always want you to lose some weight, like 10 to 20 pounds depending on your size.
They wil not pay for a lift for cosmetic reasons but reductions are lifts.

QUESTION:
whats the difference between a breast lift and getting implants?
I asked aquestion a while ago on here about breast lifts and i u should wai until after u have kids because it affects the mammary ducts and they said sumthing about the implant settling when u get a brast lift so Im confused-
ANSWER:
A breast lift is where they cut circle around the nipple, then go straight down below that then curce a cut line under the breast itself. they then remove extra skin tighening it and replacing the nipple higher up centered and perky. Implants they only make a small incision and slide the implant in and you keep the shape of your breast. so if your nipples are pointing down just getting implants wont correct that. Ive had a lift with implants under the muscle and have had them over 5 years and love them love love love my girls. Im a 32 G and had a complete lower body lift all from loseing weight from gastric bypass. 240 to 89 now 120 and sexy as hell at 40!! enjoy life. love your body and do what makes you happy!

QUESTION:
Want to get reductions or breast lifts? Best decision.?
I am only 17, 5'2", 100lbs, and a 32DDD (some brands a 32G). My breasts are slightly saggy and it makes me feel old and i don't even have much of a selection of cute bikinis. But i kinda do like them. So, I'm deciding to reduce them or getting lifts. What would be the best choice and the best age?
i have NATURAL breastsi don't have back problems.
-
ANSWER:
a breast lift is part of a breast reduction the way the surgery is structured, so no issue there.
i suggest waiting until you feel that your breasts have stopped growing (ie. when puberty is over). i had mine when i was 27. others i know had it in their 20's and 30's. those are the most happiest. i have a few friends who had it when they were 16 and wish they would have waited.

QUESTION:
How many breast lifts is it safe to have in your lifetime?
I know you can only have about 4 or 5 face lifts in your life, but what about breast lifts? I understand breasts usually don't get to be as saggy as they once had been after the surgery, but they still start to sag again at some point, depending on a variety of factors. So how many times is it safe to have this procedure done in your lifetime?

QUESTION:
How much roughly does it cost for breast lift surgery in England?
Hi, I'm 18 and I already have saggy breasts. They make me feel really sad and sick when I look at them which is why I would really like to get breast lift surgery. How much roughly should I expect to pay and could you tell me how I could find excellent surgeons? Thank you.
Andy, there was no need to be rude.-
ANSWER:
I think you are really young to be considering this, it costs about £6000 pounds for a BR and is not guaranteed to solve your problems ask me i know!
I had BR surgery in 2005, they have already started to grow back and i had a terrible infection and very bad scars.Things have not been the same for me since surgery, the best thing you should do is invest in a good bra.Go to Bravissimo and get measured and buy a proper supporting fitted bra, you will feel the difference immedietly, your posture, your breathing, i think this will be of more use than a BL, that should be a last resort. This is just my opinion.

QUESTION:
How much would a breast lift and augmentation cost all together? What are all of the payment options?
I'm just wondering how much or about how much a breast lift and augmentation would cost all together and if anyone knows all of the payment options and any other details... Thanks...-
ANSWER:
The prices of such surgeries vary from different areas. So if you live in a big city, chances are that you'll be paying more. Here in the New Orleans are, the cost of just a breast augmentation ranges from 00-00. Also whether you choose silicone or saline can affect the cost...on average, silicone implants cost about 00 more. So I can imagine a lift would range from 00-000. Many plastic surgeons offer free consulttations...in which he/she will examine you and tell you the plan he/she has for the procedure. They will include pricing and tell you about all the financing options. So my advice is to schedule a few consults.Good luck!

do doctors do a breast reduction and a breast lift at the same time?
I want to reduce my breast size, but also have them lifted. Can a doctor do both procedures at once, or do I have to go a second time?-
ANSWER:
the way a breast reduction is done, a lift is naturally part of the process. the cut around the nipple, down the middle of the breast and underneath. breast tissue is removed, then the breast is sewed back up. since everything is taken out from underneath, it is like a lift.
i had a breast reduction in oct 08 and mine are still perky.

QUESTION:
How long does it take to recover from a breast lift?
I want to get a breast lift and I'd also like to have my nipples evened out on top of that. I need to know costs and recovery.-
ANSWER:
Following breast lift surgery, patients may experience discomfort, swelling, and bruising, which typically lasts from two to three weeks. Pain medications may be prescribed during the first week of breast lift recovery to make this time comfortable. Patients are required to avoid sleeping on their stomachs for the first two weeks, and are advised to sponge bathe until the sutures are removed. Your doctor can advise you of additional options for maximizing your comfort during the initial recovery period.During breast lift recovery, patients are required to wear a surgical bra for the first few days following surgery. This bra is then replaced with a support bandage or sports bra which is to be worn at all times for several weeks. The sutures are removed from the breasts after a week or two. Patients are normally able to return to work and light activities after about a week. However, during the first week, it is important to avoid bending over or performing any strenuous activities that put unnecessary pressure on the chest. Such activities can slow healing and lead to excess swelling and bleeding.
Because smoking reduces circulation, you should stop smoking for two to four weeks prior to your breast lift to reduce recovery time.
It may take a month or more before all swelling and bruising disappears and the final breast lift results are apparent. Underwire bras should not be worn for the first month after surgery and instead a supportive bandage or bra should be worn at all times.
There tends to be some numbness in the nipples and skin after breast lift surgery, which usually disappears in six weeks or so. However, in some rare cases this numbness can be permanent. Some patients experience a burning or tingling sensation in the breasts during breast lift recovery as the nerves begin to return to normal function. Breast lift surgery patients should not try lifting anything over their head for three to four weeks following surgery, and should avoid lifting anything heavy for four to six weeks.
(In short, everyone is different, but you should be back to your normal self in as little as a couple weeks, and breasts should be completely recovered after 2 month. Your recovery and your actual breasts recovery is a bit different. You will need to recover from the pain, the anesthetics, and get your energy back. That will happen quicker, but then your breasts will be sore, and look swollen or scars will be more apparent for a while longer. Don't expect to go rock climbing or anything crazy for a couple months, but usually people heal suprisingly quickly from surgeries of this sort, and the reward is well worth it... Good luck!)

QUESTION:
Does natural remedies really help with breast lifting?
I'm interested in natural ways to lift and firm my very large boobs. Even if I can have the illusion of it. I've be very happy. Anyways I heard that using natural herbal supplements, breast massaging, exercising can all help with this..What are your thoughts?-
ANSWER:
Hi,
Pl. try breast massage.
Breast massage as a method of natural breast enlargement and breast health has actually been used for years as a means of stimulating healthy breast growth and promoting breast tone, pliability and firmness.Breast massage is one of the best ways to help create a more beautiful bustline by helping to shape, tone and promote growth of the breast and the area surrounding the breast.
By massaging the breasts on a regular basis, many ladies have claimed it has enhanced the shape, size and overall attractiveness of their breast. Here are some guidelines for breast massage you may want to follow:
1.) Use Olive Oil or any other cream of your choice to help prevent friction and increase the enjoyment and relaxation of the massage for a more pleasurable and therapeutic experience. This can be an herbal mixture - there are some good ones out there that really do help to promote firmess and breast tone, while creating a larger and more rounded look.
2.) Light to moderate massaging using a gentle back and forth gentle “swishing” action is best. This can be in a counterclockwise circle around the breast to help promote maximum lymphatic drainage.
3.) To gain maximum benefit and therapeutic effects, breast massage should be practiced daily, as part of a routine - perhaps when fresh out of the shower, since the skin is still somewhat moist and the room may still be steamy, for a smoother massage which may be more easily lubricated since there will still be moisture in the air. If you prefer, even several times a day can be a great benefit. It depends on what fits into your schedule. A few minutes at a time should suffice.

QUESTION:
Cellulite...help. Guys, what's attractive. Breast lifts.?
Ladies,What is the best way to get rid of those dimples? There has to be some tricks, since I've seen some of the models have them, and then soon after they don't.
Guys, do you find it a turn off if a woman is self-conscious about certain body parts? (the butt, some cellulite, not a ton)
What's worse, walking around nude and it's not so attractive but she doesn't care, or her covering up with shorts at every chance and won't walk around nude?!Also, if anyone has had a breast lift with the implants put in to fill them out, do you think the implants are safe?
Did the lift lift you very much? In pictures I've seen online, it only looks like a small amount of lift. How in the world did you find a Dr to feel confident in?-
ANSWER:
I heard that you can work off cellulite by walking/jogging uphill which will target those areas of your glutes. The butt is very difficult to target although squats... just plain air squats work, no reason for a female to expand her thigh muscle, squats are they best upperleg/butt targeting exercise.
You really only need to worry about being comfortable with your nude self when in the sight of yourself and your significant other. When you are with the person you love it is very difficult when they are still self-conscious around you, but you cannot force comfort. It takes love... and a bit of exercise & smart food choices

QUESTION:
I want a breast lift surgery with no general anesthesia is this possible?
I just hate the feeling of getting general anesthesia,is there any doctor can perfom breast lift surgery just with local anesthesia?-
ANSWER:
I don't think so. From what I understand, a breast lift can be a longer procedure and local anesthesia wears off pretty quickly. Also, there's going to be a lot of cutting, tugging and stiching involved, and the doctor would want to minimize the risk of you moving at the wrong moment.

QUESTION:
Does the breast lift operation reduce the size of the breast?
breast lifting needs some skin to be taken off to lift the breast and to stretch it back. would this reduce it's size?-
ANSWER:
Breast reduction or Lift is the prodcdure of removing excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body.
Yes, it would reduce the breast size because you are removing surface area that is breast tissue.
They usually cut around the areola on the nipple to maintain it's shape.
They then cut downward under the breast making a vertical keyhole shape.
This is the tissue that they are going to remove. This procedure will make your breasts look perkier, and is recommended if you are suffering from back pain due to the load of larger breasts.
If you wanted the same size, you can always get implants, but that would defeat the purpose, yes?

If you decide to travel, your facilitator can help you to set up your whole trip for a fixed cost. In most cases, they will also have a representative in your destination country that you can call if you need help with anything while you are traveling but not in the hospital.

QUESTION:
Anyone ever had problems with incisional healing after breast lift?
I had a breast lift on July 23 and got an infection which led to the opening of the incision on the left side. Now, it has opened up. The Dr tells me it is healing from the inside out and will take time. Has anyone had this complication?-
ANSWER:
My dghtr had an infection in her leg...they did not stitch it...they wanted it to heal from the inside out. It did. I'm sure yours will too. There is really nothing else they can do at this point....can't close it w/stiches...so it has to heal from inside out. Just keep your eye on it for further infection...or if it looks like it is worse.

QUESTION:
how is the breast lift done and is it considered a boob job?
are there implants when you have a breast lift?
does a breast lift make your boobs "fake"?
How long is the surgery and how much does it cost?
Is it life threatening?I'm 20 and have naturally sagging breasts...so would a breast life be a good idea?
Also, is it true that wearing a bra all the time can increase sagging because the muscles behind the breast tissue don't get used to the weight of the breast. Therefore, they sag more?-
ANSWER:
I think you would benifit from a breast life. There are some awesome websites that will explian it in full detail. Just google "breast life procedure". Sometimes when you get a implants they will do a mini lift. And no I don't think wearing a bra would cause more sagging. I think that would actually make it better:) Good Luck

QUESTION:
What do you think about breast lifts?
I have had two children and I am 24, I use to have big breast like 34 d, Currently still a 34 d because I'm breastfeeding, but after I quit with my first my breast got smaller 34 c. I'm afraid after I quit breastfeeding this baby they will get even smaller and I'll have a little extra skin and they will sag. I don't want big breast, but I was curious about a breast lift. Has anyone had one? Do they actually help? Do they make you numb? How much do they cost? So I can start saving.-
ANSWER:
Sadly, I can't provide any information on breast-lifts - I don't know very much about them at all. However, I'd like to warn you that every woman is self-conscious about her appearance & most problems you see with yourself are not noticed by anyone else.
Breastfeeding does require a lot of energy, so that is probably why your breasts shrank a little. It's natural that your breasts change after having two children - they're not likely to look like their old-prebaby selves again.
I doubt they'll change THAT much however - you may notice a few changes, but you'll probably exaggerate them to be worse than they are.
If however, you do still consider having the lifts, be wary of how they'll be in future (how do they look on an old woman, for example?) As I said, I don't know much about breast-lifts but consider what complications could arise from them etc. (Like, what if you have more children & you need further "tweaking"?)
Ask someone for their true personal opinion, if you need a hand in deciding. Contact your doctor for advice and information on the procedure.
Sorry that I couldn't be much more help to you.
All the best.

QUESTION:
What is your opinion on breast lifts?
Well, Im 22, andI dont have large breasts, average. But I had a baby last year, and I breastfed for about a month and it seems since I completely stopped lactating they are extremely saggy. I dont feel comfortable with it at all. I went on this website which is embracing saggy breasts (lol who knew) and they were as saggy as some 50 year olds. But if I were to get a breast lift I wouldnt want any implants, and I dont wanna seem vain (which I am being asking this question ahahhahaha) SO I thought why not ask other people their opinions on breast augmentation-
ANSWER:
If it makes you feel better about yourself, then why not? Self esteem & confidence are so very important. If you were doing it for someone else, then it would be a different story, but if you're doing it for yourself then I think you should go for it. I don't see any problem with it.

QUESTION:
when is a good time to recommend a breast lift for your woman?
after breast feeding they are not meeting my expectations, should i demand her to get a lift?-
ANSWER:
Why the Hell did you let her breast feed in the first place? They are for recreational use only. My only advice is after you let her know how disgusting her stretch marks are and she has agreed to plastic surgery tell her there is a 2 for 1 deal and she can get her boobs put back up where they belong. There is no nice way to put it and this is really your own fault you should have bought formula or let Ding breast feed.

QUESTION:
im a 38c cup now since i had my kids looking into a breast lift. how much is a lift in chicago?
before i had children my breast was a nice 34b but of course once women children that changes. i just want to lift a cup size. no implants or nothing. has anyone had a lift or does anyone know how much it would be probably be. i live in chicago.thanx!im a 38c cup now since i had my kids looking into a breast lift. how much is a lift in chicago for just a cup size?-
ANSWER:
I assume that would be pretty difficult to tell without an initial consult. No matter what it would still involve surgery, so probably typical of most breast plastic surgeries. I would assume not less that 3,500 at the minimum and could be as high as 10K for top of the line 'names' in the Chicago area. Figure something in between.
