Breast Augmentation Risks

In a world were a woman isn't considered to be truly gorgeous unless her breasts are perfectly sized, there has been in improve inside the want for enhancement of the breasts. These days you are left with several various options to select from which consists of going to a plastic surgeon for a breast augmentation all of the approach to making use of creams and naturally breast enlargement pills. While over the years there has been a variety of unscrupulous individuals who have packaged and sold enhancement pills within the past that were worthless, nowadays finding good breast enhancing pills with proven tack records are becoming increasingly less difficult.

The initial most obvious differences between the two is that the pills are much cheaper in comparison to an augmentation process. It's also considered to be significantly secure then undergoing a surgical process also. There is no recovery period, taking time off from work or even the awkward introduction of your enlarged breasts to your co-workers mainly because using the pills will improve your bust over time making it much less noticeable to those around you versus a several cup improve over the weekend.

Basically, unless you tell someone that you are taking the breast enhancing pills, they will not know that you're. In the case of a surgical procedure, chances are that your friends and family will know about it right away and could possibly even give you hassles about undergoing the process.

Most breast enlargement pills are composed of naturally occurring herbs which makes them a lot safer but like any sort of herbal regiment you'll have to be sure that you are performing your analysis prior to starting to take them; for instance, pregnant woman must not use these pills on account of the obvious increased activity within the production of estrogen. So what you might have when it is all said and carried out is that you wind up with the pills being cheaper, safer and more anonymous then a surgical process. Nonetheless, in most cases the augmentation provides probably the most accurate results.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. QUESTION:
    Risks of Breast Augmentation?
    Hello friends.

I really wonder if there are any risks of Breast Augmentation. I heard a lot of things about it. Is there any side effects?

Please share your ideas and offers :) Thankss..

    • ANSWER:
You have to go under anesthesia to have breast implants. Anesthesia comes with all kinds of risks. Any time you have a surgery, you are breaking the skin's integrity, which could lead to an infection. Severe infections could cause death, or leave you disfigured in that area if they have to remove tissue to get rid of the infection. And then there's the complications that arise with implanting things into your body. They fill the implant with saline, which is safe should the implant rupture (that's unlikely), but your body may treat the implant as a foreign invader. You can get a hematoma (large collections of blood) in that area, as well as calcified areas. It's really not worth it. I understand why women want larger breasts, but how would feel if you have a severe complication for vanity's sake? Ultimately it's your choice, and if you decide that you want to have a breast augmentation, then go for it, just make sure you educate yourself on the things that could happen. If you have a good, well-known surgeon, he or she will educate about the things that could happen, and a an experienced surgeon is less likely to make a mistake. If you do decide to go through it, research your surgeons!

  2. QUESTION:
what are the risks of breast implants?
Does anybody know what are the major risks of breast augmentation? I've been told that they harden over time, is this true? I'm thinking of getting them done and would like to know what i'm up against. Also, i know there's a large market of pills that increase cup size, does anybody know which pills actually works? I would hate to spend money on placebo. Thanks in advance!

    • ANSWER:
Herbs sometimes work, depending on the person. The pills are made up of these herbs but cost way more and have a little of each one. You have to find out which one is right for you though and do a lot of research. For example, thin lips and broad shoulders could mean you have high testosterone levels or low estrogen levels which inhibit breast tissue growth so you would take the herb fenugreek to up your estrogen levels...etc.

Herbs will take a long time and won't cause a dramatic size increase. If you want to gain more than a cup I would recommend the implants. I've had implants for a year and haven't felt them harden at all. If you're worried about them getting hard, you should opt for silicone since it is softer and more natural feeling than saline (although the health risks are higher).

Hope this helps, here's a forum on herbs:

  3. QUESTION:
are there any serious risks with getting breast augmentation?
....just wondering because i plan on getting breast augmentation someday..i'm 20 years old and am completely flat chested - can barely even fill out an A cup. im not like superskinny though, i'm just average weight....so i don't know why im flat chested but i'm very self-conscious about it as i don't feel like my age because of the fact that i have no boobs.

....anyways... so i'm just wondering if there are any serious health risks involved with breast augmentation.. both short term and long term. i'd love to get done someday if i can... not just so i can feel my age, but also so it will be easier to shop cuz i can't fill out half the tops and dresses out there, lol!

i would probably do the procedure of going up through the belly button so theres no scarring..

    • ANSWER:
These are some of the risks of getting breast augmentation:

      Capsular contracture
Capsular contracture is a scar that forms around the implant, causing it to feel firm, look unnatural, and potentially hurt. When you see pictures of a woman with obvious implants who looks like she has "coconut breasts", she more than likely has a severe capsular contracture. These are though to be less common and less severe with saline implants than with silicone implants, although studies are underway to determine whether this is true. If you develop a mild capsular contracture, you may not be bothered by it and may not even notice you have one. If you develop one that is moderate or severe, you will probably require surgery to correct the problem. Surgery involves removing the scar and placing a new implant. In spite of this, the capsular contracture may return.

      Interference with mammography
Breast implants do interfere with the ability of a mammogram to "see" all of your breast tissue. Placing the implant under the muscle allows for the least amount of interference.

      Implant displacement
Implants can move out of position at anytime after breast augmentation surgery. They can move upward, downward, left or right. If they move only a little, you may not even notice. If they move a lot, you may need further surgery to move them back into position. Fortunately, this problem is not common. The larger the implant, the greater the chance that it will displace downward. Find out more about implant displacement.

      Saline Implant deflation
Saline implants can develop a leak and deflate. If this happens, your breast will shrink to its preoperative size over a matter of a day or so. You will need another breast augmentation surgery to replace the deflated implant.

      Silicone Implant rupture
Whereas saline implants are said to deflate when the silicone shell becomes disrupted, silicone implants are said to rupture. It really is the same thing, except that when silicone gel implant shells rupture, the silicone does not become quickly reabsorbed by your body. Hence, you might not know whether you have a rupture. If silicone gel extrudes out of the implant shell, then it might provoke an inflammatory response, leading to...that's right....a capsular contracture. This is often the first sign of a silicone gel implant rupture. Whereas ruptures occurred with great frequency in implants made in the 1980's, the newer silicone gel implants have thicker shells and are presumed to have a lower rupture rate (studies are underway). If you develop a moderate or severe capsular contracture with a silicone implant, then the usual treatment is surgical removal of the implant along with the capsule, which is really made up of surrounding scar tissue. A new implant can be placed at the same time. Find out more about silicone implant rupture.

      Rippling
This is the visible appearance of waviness of the skin over your implants, like the ripples of a wave on a lake. Some doctors refer to this as "wrinkling."

      Infection
Infection, if it occurs, usually does so within two months of surgery. Infection occurs in about 1% of all implant surgeries. If an infection occurs it often requires antibiotics and the removal of the involved implant. A new implant can be placed six months later, which means you would have to go for six months with very uneven breasts. Find out more about implant infections.

      Nipple numbness
If the possibility of having numb nipples is unacceptable to you, you should not have breast augmentation because no surgeon can guarantee preservation of nipple sensation. The national risk of having permanently numb nipples is about 15%. Find out more about numbness and changes in sensation.

      Breast feeding and pregnancy
Breast feeding ability is not altered by implants. Many women ask about the effect of future pregnancy on augmented breasts. In most cases, implants will not affect the fate of your postpartum breasts. Here is why: following pregnancy (and breast feeding), your breasts will shrink to their pre-pregnancy size (or there about). During this process of shrinking, your breast skin may either tighten or not tighten. If it tightens, you will most likely not have breast droop. If it does not tighten, then your breasts will unfortunately droop. Whether or not the skin tightens has little or nothing to do with the presence or absence of implants.

  4. QUESTION:
    breast augmentation?
I am considering getting a breast augmentation I am familiar with the potential risks although I can not seem to find statistics on how often they occur does any one know the stats or where I could find them?

    • ANSWER:
The risks in breast augmentations are really very low. There are complications in about 3% of cases. I recommend you get this book, which really helped me out, where you'll find tons of info on where to get good quality plastic surgery at excellent prices: http://cgi.ebay.com/ULTIMATE-GUIDE-TO-PLASTIC-SURGERY-ABROAD-2006-EDITION_W0QQitemZ270032540267QQihZ017QQcategoryZ47103QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

  5. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation?
A lady friend of mine asked me about breast augmentation, how it is done, and about the risks. Before I send her a reply I would like to hear your guy's opinions.

    • ANSWER:
The controversy over silicone implants was resolved with their reintroduction in 2006, but this most popular of all cosmetic surgeries still has some risks. The three major complications are that the implants may rupture or leak, they may become infected or scar tissue may form around the implant itself.

The rupture rate is only about one percent a year. Infection is a surgical risk in any operation. But scar tissue, that can be a problem. In fact, it can become so thick and tight around the implants that it deforms the breast and cause pain. If women come back ten or twenty years after their implant surgery, it's because of the scar tissue.

For a silicone implant, the incision will be much larger and there will be a much larger scar than with saline but it feels more like a natural breast. The decision is up to each individual, but those are the options.

  6. QUESTION:
Is it safe to have a second breast augmentation?
I had a breast augmentation to fix my sclerosis. Thankfully, the augmentation was enough to fix the deformity without more cutting than a small incision (in some cases more reconstructive work is required). I would like to have them redone to improve their shape.

What are the risks of having a second procedure?

    • ANSWER:
The risks involved with breast revision surgery are the same as the first augmentation. The only difference with the revision is that there will be scar tissue from the original implant that the surgeon will have to work through. Im not sure where you are but there is a surgeon in Beverly Hills named Dr. Stuart Linder who is a specialist at breast augmentation and breast revision surgery. Ill include the link below to both of his websites, possibly if you are local you can contact him or his website will provide you with the information you need.

  7. QUESTION:
What are The Benefit and The Risk Of Breast Augmentation?

    • ANSWER:
      it's simple :

      Benefit :
      1. You get ideal Breast Shape.
      2. You become more confident

      Risk :
      1. Complication during anesthesia
      2. Not long-last of course

  8. QUESTION:
what factors can increase the risk of breast augmentation?

    • ANSWER:
Apparently the physical state of the person has a lot to do with the result of the procedure. Individuals who are too thin can have an increased risk of the implants bottoming out on both or just one breast. The term "bottoming out" means that the inserted sac may have slipped lower than the other side, creating an uneven height for the nipple and the chest. If this happens just a few weeks after breast augmentation, it may have been caused by the pocket being too big. If it takes several years, then the implant may have naturally slid down due to its weight. Individual who are too thin or have less tissue in the area run the risk of this problem more than others.

Another risk that is factored by thinness or lack of substance in the chest is symmastia. This is a condition in which the woman's new set of mammary glands may appear too close together. This is unnatural looking at best and is caused by some factors such as too much dissecting of the tissues to create a cleavage and the lack of natural fat or muscle in the breasts.

Caspular contracture is another risk that can happen randomly to any woman who has just undergone a breast augmentation procedure. It occurs when the body naturally tries to enclose the foreign object that has been implanted into its midst. It is not the implant that hardens but the tissue itself as it tries to encapsulate the implant. Although not all individuals may develop capsular contracture, it usually occurs just a few weeks after the operation.

  9. QUESTION:
High blood pressure and having breast augmentation surgery?
I am having breast augmentation surgery in June and I have high blood pressure is it safe and what are the risk to consider. I'm really nervous. I am taking medication but the surgeon said I will have to get a release from my doctor.

    • ANSWER:
Well, you sure have to tell the doctor. As far as I know there's no problem if you take the medication and keep it under control, because the instruments used in surgery will tell the doctor your blood pressure. On the other hand if you have high blood pressure in your eyes (glaucoma) and you're having a surgery in there it will be very dangerous.

  10. QUESTION:
Just has a breast augmentation and later found out I was 4 to 6 weeks pregnant. Anesthesia risk?
I was shocked and still am. I had my period, so I can't believe it - on top of that, my husband and I have been trying for years and never could. Anyway, I went under twice. The second time was due to one breast bleeding. My main concern is the effects of the anesthesia to the baby. Has this ever happen to anyone? - and "yes" I did see my doctor, but I'm still concern and want advice. I'm happy but concerned all in one.

    • ANSWER:
The risks are actually very slim. The biggest risk is loss of the pregnancy, which would have happened shortly after the surgery.

The drugs we use are used safely during pregnancy all the time. There are theoretical risks of birth defects with use of nitrous oxide, but it's not something that has been identified as a teratogen.

      Relax. Enjoy your pregnancy.

  11. QUESTION:
If newly pregnant is it safe to get laser surgery on skin and breast augmentation or other breast procedures?
Is it safe to get plastic surgery or laser surgeries when your pregnant? Would it hurt the baby? What are the risks?

    • ANSWER:
      Uh...don't do that.
When you do these things to your body, you're putting your body at risks and doing unnatural things to it.

Think about the baby, not yourself.

  12. QUESTION:
How much weight should I lose to undergo a breast augmentation?
I currently weigh 210 lbs, but I have small breasts and would like breast implants. I know that my weight can pose as an issue in having the surgery. I'm currently in the process of losing weight and I was wondering what an ideal weight would be to undergo the surgery without a high risk.

    • ANSWER:
I don't think that your current weight is as much of an issue with augmentation as the augmentation while loosing weight would be. Loosing weight after augmentation can cause rippling in the implants to become visible. It is best to wait until you are finished loosing weight to have the procedure done.

  13. QUESTION:
How do you feel about breast augmentation?
I have been thinking about getting the prodedure done since I was 15. I wanted to get it as a birthday present for my 18th. Is it a good idea and worth it or is it too high risk?
    I need feedback.
    Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
I have seen many breast implanted women topless (lots of friends) The thing is.. unless you're going into the porno business i wouldn't recommend it, they look great under a shirt and that's about it. you could get the same effect by gluing two balloons to your chest and drawing nipples on them, once you're older you could change your mind about them as well, I used to think they were awesome when i was 18. 7 years later i think they look tacky and ugly.

  14. QUESTION:
    How to naturally enhance breast?
I Consider myself to be on the small side I range from an A to a B cup depending on the time of the month. I was considering a breast augmentation but the health risks are just too risky.
I'd rather find an alternative to help increase the size of my breasts. Are there any natural supplements out there I can take or anything like that?
I know birth control helps but what else can do this?

  15. QUESTION:
What do you think of breast augmentation?
Hi, I just had a few questions on this. How much does it cost? What are the risk factors before and after surgery? What are the odds of fatality? What kind of implants are most reliable? Is it worth it? Thanks, I appreciate your posts.

    • ANSWER:
Unlike what Jay said, most men don't ogle the plastic cartoon on the cover of Playboy. Maybe some teenager and not even anymore these days. Guys check natural women on the web so much more (check the latest porn stars) because they feel so much more real and nice, small and saggy it's still very feminine. Implants are something I could get myself on myself, so what's the point of getting excited touching a stretched skin over plastic with nipple pointing straight out and no concave curves anymore, just concave?

Breast Implants: Good Idea + Risks?
I've wanted a breast augmentation for a very long time now, and I was wondering what people thought about them and what are the really bad risks. I dont plan on going overly large; maybe a high B or Low C cup. Help?
This is for self-esteem purposes; not for any guy.

    • ANSWER:
I had mine done last April, and I do not regret it one bit. I went to a small C, and they are great, not too big, not too small. If you really feel strongly, then do it, you only live once and if it will make you feel better about yourself, that is all that matters. I had the trans-umbilical procedure done, where they insert through your belly button and I have no scars. I seriously couldn't be happier with the results. Go for it, and good luck!!

  18. QUESTION:
Is there any legitimate way to naturally increase my breast size?
For starters, I am a size 34-36B, which would seem a reasonable breast size. But, my body shape (petite, plump but not overweight, large trunk area) is not proportionate with my breast size. I am very apprehensive about breast augmentation surgery because of: 1. the risks involved with the surgery; and, 2. the cost of breast augmentation. Is there any tried-and-true, honest-to-goodness, NATURAL method to increase my breast size?

    • ANSWER:
      Hi There,

For starters, it's no secret that most women desire larger breasts, so there's absolutely nothing wrong with your natural desire for bigger breasts. To be quite honest, I have even considered it in the past, and interviewed some of the most renknown surgeons to carry out this procedure in Canada and the United States.

In the end, I opted out for the exact same reasons as you mentioned. Not to mention, you're "treated like cattle" in breast surgery procedures, which was another turn off for me - even if you're paying "top dollars", easily upwards of ,000.

To answer your question further about natural breast enlargement, do choose your product carefully and do your research. Natural products for breast enlargement and solutions for the most part do not negatively affect your health.

However, since ingredients may be absorbed into the bloodstream, it is important that you use a natural breast augmentation product that does not have any chemicals. If you do not choose an all-natural solution, you could run this risk of contracting a serious health condition, such as cancer.

Have you ever heard of Mirofirm? It's a pure extract of P. mirifica. This herb comes from Thailand and grows in the deciduous forests. Locals have used it for centuries as an effective way to enlarge breasts. Remedies that have been proven to work for hundreds of years are more effective.

It contains no chemicals, harmful preservatives, artificial coloring or synthetic hormones. Based on my in-depth research, I believe using a product with this herb will provide you with a safe and risk-free breast enlargement system that will deliver real results, according to other women's shared experiences and results.

It's available in a serum and is used by massaging two drops of the breast enlargement formula into each breast daily. When it is applied, women notice that their breast size increases, their stretch marks and wrinkles are less noticeable and the overall appearance of their breasts is much perkier.

  19. QUESTION:
What should I know about breast implant/augmentation?
While I'm doing research, what should I look for? What should I know about the doctor? What should I know about the material? What are the different ways to put them in? What are the risks? 21. QUESTION:
    Questions about breast augmentation?
I'm 19 years old. My breasts are significantly different sizes, and I'm considering getting breast implants. Can anyone tell me about a) approximate cost, b) how to find a good plastic surgeon, and c) risk of breast cancer (my mother has been in remission for five years-- will breast implants increase my risk?). I want them to look and feel natural-- can someone who has gotten breast augmentation talk with me on that point? Also, I've heard two things that concern me... does getting breast implants decrease sensation in your nipples? and what about breast feeding? How will a breast augmentation affect me when I decide to have children?

Thanks in advance to everyone who answers!

    • ANSWER:
I had augmentation done 3 years ago, in my area the cost was 00, there are programs that most PS have to finance it if needed. There isn't a risk of Breast Cancer and implants. For the natural look and feel having the implants put under the muscle is the best in my opinion, that is what I did. Have you ever seen a bad "boob job"? sometimes when not placed under the muscle there are ripples...which is the implant showing, under the muscle decreases that in my opinion. You can have decrease in sensation or it can go the total opposite and they be really sensitive, mine are very sensitive. I was told that breast feeding is still an option with my implants. Do your research, I'd start on line, you'll find lots of information out there, then start searching in your area for a surgeon, make sure you clear with them on what you want your end result to be. Good luck.

  22. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation Surgery?
I'm considering breast augmentation. Before I say anymore, this is something that I want to do for myself and no one else.

To start, I'm about 5'6 and I weigh 130 pounds. As I said, Im considering a breast augmentation. I've researched some health risks, etc. and I'm just about convinced to go through with it. One thing I've also read about is harvesting fat and implanting it? If anyone has any info on that, please send it my way. I just want to get some input and thoughts before I go through with this. What are your thoughts on breast implants (augmentated)?

    Thanks everyone.
    Reguards,
    Rebecca
    EDIT:
I should mention that my size is 36B.

    • ANSWER:
Rebecca, not sure if you spoken with your surgeon about using your own fat, but here is some info to keep in mind:

Although it seems ideal, using your own fat for breast augmentation has a risk of complications. Fat grafting, especially in the amount needed for a breast, requires the transfer of blood vessels along with the fatty tissue to keep it alive. It is not as simple as suctioning out fat in one part of the body and injecting it to your chest.

Some info on breast augmentation surgery: http://www.newimage.com/cosmetic-plastic-surgery/breast/augmentation-overview.aspx

      Fat grafting article: http://www.newimage.com/fat-grafting.aspx

If you have discussed this with your surgeon, be sure that they are the right doctor for your surgery. At your consultation, keep in mind that the reason you are consulting with a cosmetic surgeon is to determine if cosmetic surgery is right for you.

You should think of the consultation as an information-gathering mission. The most important information you will get from the consultation is a general feel for the surgeon and his or her office staff. The consultation is a chance for you to establish rapport with both the doctor and the people in the office. You should feel that you are being treated well by the receptionist and other staff members, not just the surgeon. 24. QUESTION:
Should I get a breast augmentation (one side)?
I am 17 and trying to decide if I should get an implant in my left breast, which is literally two cup sizes smaller than the right breast. It was my mom idea, and it would help a lot with self esteem (I hate wearing bathing suits and tank tops), but I'm afraid of the risks... I've never had any real surgery done...
    What should I do?
Also, they stopped growing about 2 years ago but they've been uneven since I was 12. There is no chance of them ever evening out.

  25. QUESTION:
Should I Get A Breast Augmentation!?!?!?
ok so im 18 turning 19 soon

i am pretty much flat cheasted and wats worse is the way my nipples are positioned it makes my boobs look even smaller cause they go to the side

i went to a surgen for a consultation and he took pictures and sent my info to the government to be considered for free breast implants since i live in canada if you have a breast abnormality you can potentially get surgery cause of free health care

so they accepted me but im still not sure if i should get them....i just feel like guys wont want to be in a serious relationship cause they want the real thing and that they wont look good since i have little breast tissue to begin with....another thing is the health issues/risks.....im also scared about the feeling of the implants once theyre inside me and just the fact that theyre fake

but i want to be able to wear a bra and feel womanly and be able to look good in clothes

anyways sry for this long post but do u think i shd get a breast augmentation.....thnx in advance
btw i kind of have a big ass so i want to get like a D cup

    • ANSWER:
Well if you wait until your 22 (hopfully its the same in Canada as in united States) you can get the silicone implants which feel ALMOST real (lol my friend got them, theyre so soft & squishy lmao)

And there are PLENTY of guys who could care less if theyre real of fake hun, I mean look at how many guys fantasize about porn stars or like.. Jwoww from jersey shore lmao her boobies are ginormous and shes still sexy & has plenty of guys after her.

And also it depends on how big you go, obviously if you go from like flat to a 36DD itll feel & look awkward BUT if you only go to a B, since you said you just wanna feel womanly & wear a bra, theyr'll be fine looking :]

honestly if you can get them for free & feel you need them to feel better about yourself, get them :]
if you absolutely hate them, you can always have them removed =]]

Anyways, I hope you are able to mkae up your mind sweetie :]
      Good luck XD

  26. QUESTION:
My twin sister wants breast augmentation and has consulted me about her decision.?
She and I are the same size body except she is a bit thinner than I am. She wants her breasts enlarged to a C cup because she is in between sizes and has a hard time finding dresses and blouses that fit right, as well as finding a good-fitting bra even. I can empathize, we have always had a hard time finding clothes that fit us because we have very short torsos and wide hips. So I see her concern and how she feels that this would make parts of life easier for her. I've also heard that you can still breastfeed when you have implants, because she wants to have kids someday. She's done her research, but wants to know what I think as her sister. I'm not sure what to tell her, as I've always associated breast implants with a negative stigma. Should I tell her not to? Are there terrible risks? Or should I leave it up to her and say I don't have an opinion? I guess I just don't know enough about this kind of thing.

    • ANSWER:
Well, honestly, it sounds like she's looking for your personal opinion, not your medical opinion. Thin about whether or not YOU would consider breast implants, and then why or why not. Give her some non-biased insight but let her know you'll support her either way (if you will). Honestly, if her only reason is to find shirts that fit right, I'd tell her not to do it - there are tailors for that :)

  27. QUESTION:
Has anyone had breast augmentation performed by Dr Rey, of Beverly Hills?
After careful and extensive research, I have decided to get breast implants. I was just curious if anyone has had surgery performed by Dr Rey. From the show, Dr 90210 he seems to have alot of experience and I want a good doctor. Im 5'6, about 140 lbs and have a small b cup now and would like to go to 425cc, or a full c cup. Any and all info or experiences with Dr Rey would be greatly appreciated!
Oh, and PS, if you dont agree with breast augmentation, dont be rude, and dont even bother answering please...I know the risks.

    • ANSWER:
I don't know Dr. Rey..but Dr. Brian Kinney is in the LA area and he is an excellent surgeon. He uses actipatch for post surgery pain management and is very sensitive!

  28. QUESTION:
Women who have had breast augmentation only: I have capsular contraction....?
...My right breast is hard. Help, please!
I last had the surgery in 1990. I can't afford surgery to remove the scar tissue. I don't want to go to the doctor who performed the surgery because he will try to break the scar capsule and he might rupture the implant. I am concerned about taking Accolate because of the risk of liver damage and one of the possible side effects is nausea. I am tired of the soreness and hardness and want to know what can make my breast soft again.

    • ANSWER:
The sooner you start the treatments the better. The treatments can be uncomfortable, but so is the condition. Your therapist will work only with her hands and gently release the scar tissue a little at a time. She should also train you to work the scar tissue yourself making the process go a lot faster.

Good luck in your healing process.

  29. QUESTION:
can you use someone elses fat for fat transfer breast augmentation?
im very skinny with small boobs, and i have a friend with DDDs and shes a little big. we have joked about using her fat to put into my boobs before, but i litterally just heard that fat transfer breast augmentation is a real procedure. i know its supposed to use your own fat, but is there a possibility of using someone elses fat? im worried i wouldnt have enough fat, and my friend is serious about getting a breast reduction someday because of back pain and other problems. so why let that extra boobage go to waste when someone like me needs it?
i know there would definitely be more risks, but is it a possibility?
another question...could they take a small amount of fat from my own body? i only weigh around 120lbs so im not sure how any plastic surgeon would feel about lipo on me, but i do have some fat in my thighs that i could lose, just not sure if they could or would take only a small amount. i only want to go up about a cup size.
would i be able to find someone with similar fat tissue?

    • ANSWER:
I wish you could do this but the answer is i don't think so. make if the fat was removed and distilled some how.

The truth is that you will grow into the right breast size for you. Your friend may end up staying a DDD or she might lose weight and go down a cup or so. You might end up going up to a DDD or a G cup. It's possible who knows.

  33. QUESTION:
Is it harder for women who've had breast augmentations to detect cancerous lumps?
I've never had any cosmetic surgery, I have no intention of ever getting a breast augmentation, and I'm not anywhere close to the age range where breast cancer is a concern, so this is just a question asked out of curiosity. Are women who have implants at a greater risk of not detecting cancerous lumps early enough to be treated as successfully as someone who doesn't have them? Do they have to do a special type of self-exam?

    • ANSWER:
A small percentage of all breast cancers are found by the woman herself. Most that are found early are found on mammogram. Implants do not increase risk or cause much of a problem with imagining. They can make things difficult if a biopsy is needed as there is a risk of puncturing it.

  34. QUESTION:
Should I do a breast augmentation?
I am 25 yo, just finished breastfeeding that I did for 2.5 years! My boobs r deflated after i stoped breastfeeding, 34A w/ stretchmarks - I am so not happy with the looks. I am 5'5, 109Pounds, have nice curves, butt etc, but my boobies r just killing me. Please tell me if I should do the boob job. Where should I have the cut: underarm, underbreast or around the nipple? Do i have to do correction every 5 years? whats better saline or silicon? Is it a big risk , will I have saggy breasts if i'll breastfeed in the future? How long is the recovery, how often to visit the doctor? Any referals in Riverside County LA or San Diego? I want to have 34C - this should match my butt & still look natural. Please advise!!!!

    • ANSWER:
i would wait, i would like to have them too but I'm waiting till I'm done having kids and breastfeeding. can you imagine having c cups and then breast feeding again? you think you have stretch marks now just wait till you get engorged after the next baby. if you want to firm up you breast try doing push ups or butterflies, it may not take them to where they were but its a start.

  36. QUESTION:
breast augmentation for 17 year old girl?
Hi, what are your opinions? I understand there are serious risks involved... im 5'9 and weigh 110lb, so my tiny breasts match my proportion. Some say its good for modeling, but im convinced that Id like to have some bust.

    • ANSWER:
You are too thin. Eat. That will help will out your breasts. Wait till you are over 21 to consider breast implants. Once you get them, you can't just take them out and go back to what you were. After the implants are taken out, your breasts will sag badly....that's why it's a big decision. You'd always have to have some implant in there. Forever.

  37. QUESTION:
Breast Augmentation Questions for those that have been there, done that...?
I know there's alot that goes into breast enhancements. People do it for alot of different reasons. Recently I've been considering getting an enhancement to restore what my breasts were before having two children and breastfeeding.

Other than the obvious risks that go along with any surgery is there anything I should know that they might not tell me at the dr's office?

Is there any reduction in sensitivity to the breast area, nerve damage?

Please respond only if you have a mature comment to make. I'm not looking to be purswayed one way or the other. Just wanted honest feedback from those that know.

    • ANSWER:
As far as having breast implants go, you can easily search the internet and find out about he risks, most of them are out there and I wouldn't worry as the Dr as legally bound to make sure you know all the risks involved.

From my experience, this type of procedure is alot more straighforward than it used to be when they used silicone (which they don't use anymore due to the cancer risk).

My only advice would be to go for tear drop style - these look more natural as they don't give you that fake looking line at the top of the breast.

You are being very mature by researching and looking into the possible risks and once you know then all I say go for it if it will make you happy. If you have a partner or husband, I would also see what they say. They may not be attracted to a fake style boob (these feel TOTALLY different to a normal breast i.e. quite hard). Even though this choice should be up to you, i.e. your decision, I think it is only fair to check with your partner as it could affect your sex life.

With regard to sensitivity, don't worry too much - as long as you go to a good Dr and don't have it done on the cheap you should be OK.

I would also make sure you only go for one or two sizes larger (especially if you are only having your breasts done to lift them if they have drooped due to children) - this means you won't have to have your nipple relocated (which can cause loss of sensitivity).

Good luck. I know quite a bit about this subject although have not had this surgery myself.

Thought about it - in order to get larger breasts but then decided against it.

Each to their own I say. If you are 100% go for it and enjoy your new look - as long as you are 100% aware of the risks (as you will be by the time you make your decision).

  38. QUESTION:
Would you ever go for breast augmentation?
Even if you found out that most men dislike fake assets? Plus
    It's a health risk

    Why/ why not ?

  39. QUESTION:
Can capsular contracture (hardening of breast tissue after breast augmentation) be easily removed by a surgeon?
I had a breast augmentation 16 years ago. The "hardening" in one of my breasts has deformed that breast, in time, and I was told years ago that it was called "capsular contracture". Regardless of what it is called, the hardening of that breast (over the muscle, not under) is now showing more, as gravity has taken it's course since I first had this augmentation done. The other breast is fine, and has drooped naturally with time and age. I am 53 years of age, and in very good trim shape (not afraid of surgery, although I HAVE been told there is always a chance of infection (which DOES scare me, because if infection is VERY bad, the new implant would have to be taken out for approx 3 to 6 mths I believe). I am trying to make the decision of whether or not the surgery (removing old implants, removing old hardening (the capsular contracture)? I was told that removing means like "peeling lots of layers of wallpaper". I am not sure if this is only time consuming, or very difficult for a surgeon, or BOTH? If it is pretty normal proceedure that most cosmetic breast surgery surgeons perform, then my decision to have the implants changed would be a yes. If it is very difficult and high risk, then I will leave well enough alone. I have no complications, as it is only the hardening (not painful) that bothers me physically. Would there be any surgeons out there that would know the answer to this? I have had only one surgeon give me her answers, so far, and would like to have a couple more opinions, if possible. Thank you.

      Hi,

  40. QUESTION:
After breast augmentations how do your reast feel, do they feel natural?
I would like to know if I get a breast augmentation, will my breast feel hard and un-natural? I just want to go up about 3 sizes, nothing dramatic, but I don't want to risk it if they do not move and feel akward

    • ANSWER:
Immediately after surgery, they feel VERY heavy!! If you get saline implants, they will feel very fake and you will be able to feel what feels like a plastic bag (it's the implant of course) under your skin, very easily. If you go with SILICONE, they feel much more natural, much softer. Of course they don't feel REAL because, well.. they're not, it's a filled bag under your skin no matter how you look at it. I had saline to begin with and switched to silicone and am much happier. But they are by no means HARD. I love mine and am so happy I can fill out a shirt now, and I don't have to wear bras with uncomfortable gel inserts, woohoo!! :) Good luck to you!

  41. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation Question?
I'm planning on getting breast implants. (Please do not comment on the negative factors of implants or the fact that men prefer natural ect) I am well aware of both the benefits and risks, and I am an adult and I have made up my mind. Ok, now that that's out of the way :)
I have a 3 month old son, and I'm planning on getting implants later this month. I'm going from a B to a C nothing too drastic, saline and behind the muscle. Probably going through the armpit for the incision. I am well aware that there will be pain involved, but I'm also wondering how this will work with my child... I'm not breastfeeding or anything of the sort, but I do have to carry him and burp him and such. I can only imagine (as I'm not an idiot and have pretty good common sense) that this is going to be hard. I'm wondering if anyone has been through similar situations and could give me any pointers or suggestions (other than don't do it). I have a wonderful husband and family who will be helping me in the days after with the baby also. Any real answers will be GREATLY appreciated. Also if anyone can describe the pain to me I'd like to hear from real people as opposed to testimonials online where you never know if they're real or not.
    Thank you!

I have Low iron in blood and and im about to have a breast augmentation. Is it dangerous?
Im 23 and i recently did blood test because i had too much hair loss and i found out that my iron is too low and the doctor gave me a treatment which is named Legofer.
I was wondering if it is dangerous to have a breast augmentation 25 days after the treatment to balance the level of the iron in blood.
The doctor which is going to do me surgery doesnt know it yet but he is also going to do me a blood test in a week and i am wondering if the iron is again too low he might cancel the surgery. For sure i dont wanna risk my life over boobs but is it possible to cancel the surgery if you have low iron?
    thank you

    • ANSWER:
You should be fine, but you can call your doctor and ask about your concerns, he might run another test to check your iron, but you can eat high iron foods to help. Such as:
      "Total" brand cereal
      "Rasin Bran" cereal
      Liver
      Baked potatos w/ skin
      Green leafy veggies
      Prunes and Dates
      Beef and Clams
      Peas
      Broccoli

You can reseach more foods or look at the labels.

  43. QUESTION:
My breast implants popped 3 years ago, but the implants are still inside. Is there any risks?
I can not afford to have them removed or even replaced at the time. They are saline with a silicone shell. After 5 years. they deflated, and now the empty bags have been in there for 3 yrs. I plan on getting them removed and redone at the same time, opposed to getting the bags removed then later on having the augmentation again. So far there has been no infection but I am concerned about scar tissue around the empty bags getting thicker. Does anyone know anything about this....Thanks
My docter is a 4 hour plane ride away.... When I called them.. they of course wanted me to come down and get them redone but without that kind of money I am unable to do so...

    • ANSWER:
No, but wish I did. Call up the Dr. who did the procedure and ask him. That's the only way you will know for sure if there is a risk of infection etc.

  44. QUESTION:
    Breast augmentation surgery after breastfeeding?
My breast surgery is scheduled next week. I breastfed my baby for 2.5 years and quit just 2 month ago. My Doc told me that its recomended to wait for 6 mos to do the surgery , cus there is possibility i have milk left over & there is a risk of infection He checked me and said that i am ok to do the surgery, I already did all the tests and preparation. Yesterday i checked my brests better and after pressing & squeezing them VERY HARD there was a few drops in both breasts, I called doc's office, they said as long as its not "squirting" I should be fine. Also they'll put me on antibiotics starting the day before surgery, that should help to avoid infection. My Q is Am I @ the big risk for infection or complication? I will have a lift & fulfill my volume, I got soft hangin' skin left after the long brestfeeding, I mean u can roll the brests up - i need to fix them for sure & get proportional, I am 25y.o, 5'5 and 110 Lb in good shape, barbells & gym r not helpin from that extra sagging skin

    • ANSWER:
Breast augmentation is serious surgery with many risks. If you stopped 2 months ago, you're body is still in the middle of the many adjustments associated with breastfeeding. My wife's breast shrank a whole cup size after breastfeeding and we have talked about the possibility of breast augmentation after we're completely done having children. But no doubt we/she would wait at least a year. I think it is way too soon for you and the fact the doctor is saying "should be alright" is not very reassuring.

  45. QUESTION:
Breast implants for vanity reasons carry a higher risk of suicide according to reports? Knowledge of this?
"These findings agree fundamentally with those of past reports," Morrison said. "The one thing that lights up is this increased suicide risk."

Though this study could not dig for the reasons, Morrison noted that other studies have found poorer self-esteem and elevated rates of depression and other psychiatric disorders among women who opt for breast augmentation.

    • ANSWER:
i just read that before coming to yahoo answers, in the first place women get them for self esteem reasons they felt they wernt good enough before and thats why they got them, whats not to say in a year they change thier mind or find something else depresing far worse than the implants

  48. QUESTION:
Has anyone had breast augmentation in thailand? Im aware of a few doctors but popular ones are raising prices.
Im aware of risks, and have read in alot of threads of people warning against it, at the end of the day its 1 in every 50 that gets a botch job, an its just the same as your home country.

Anyway im after anyone who knows of, or has had surgery in thailand, which surgeon do you reccommend, and what hospital was it done in, an how are the results? Im sick of looking at websites claiming every surgeons great, i want to hear from some real people who have been there done that.

    Thanks in advance
yes fake i agree, fake breast are becoming popular, but in todays society, when you work in a industry where your paid upon your appearance, and you stand with the other girls who have great breasts, its only natural to want to be proud and earn just as much. Im not up for anything "porn style" just a size or 2, with my original shape before i lost them. Im after an extremely attractive natural look, and i think its fine if thats what makes someone happy and confident.

    • ANSWER:
Just a few points and links for you to keep in mind while doing your breast augmentation research:

Follow-up care is an important consideration for the medical tourist. Most travel medical packages provide for limited or no follow-up consultations once the patient returns to the United States. If complications arise, local doctors may not be able to treat patients who underwent cosmetic surgery abroad as easily.

Another thing to consider is that any licensed physician can call himself or herself a cosmetic surgeon! A physician who used to treat heart patients can take a weekend course in a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure and start performing it immediately!

  49. QUESTION:
I'm curious. People in the "Gender and Women's Studies" section, what is your stance on breast augmentation?
I've been contemplating the sugery for years now actually, since the fifth grade (I'm going into tenth now). My mom has had hers done, and when I was complaining about how I was the only girl without any boobs at all, she mentioned that she'd be willing to pay for mine. Yes, this was in fifth grade. Yes, my my family is really messed up.

But anyways, what's your stance on it? If I were to get the surgery it would be for me, and nobody else; not because my mother or anyone else pushed me into it. Yes, my mom said she would let me use her surgeon, but I was the one who suggested it. My A-cup chest just makes me feel really grossly unfeminine (and yes, I'm aware that it's probably not a good thing to associate boobs and feminity; but it is how it is.) And also, while my measurements are 34-24-34, my lack of a chest makes me look like a pear-shape. Plus I can't shop for bras and I have to do it online (the people at VS told me to shop at Limited Too. I never went back.) And I also refuse to wear un-padded bras, and I have to wear chicken cutlet things every day. Also, I refuse to wear swimsuits unless I'm with really good friends. In addition to that, I'd only want B-cups, which is less than average (Average is 36C, but when Americans were skinner it was a 34 B, that's all that I'd want.)

I've researched it a lot and have really thought it out and, despite the risks and such, I think that the surgery would be good for me as that is the only aspect of my appearence that I do not like. The only one. And the only one I can't change with diet or exercise. What are your thoughts? I'd go to a world-renowned surgeons in Beverly Hills, and I'd make them as natural as possible. I also have decided to wait until I'm 22, both for the option of silicone implants, and to see if my thoughts change.

Thoughts? I'm curious as to what the feminists on here would say.
They put me on pills and creams and neither worked. Also, I'd work with the doctor to come up with a size that would look in proportion to my body. I just want to be normal, and I want to be able to go swimming or shopping without being hugely embarrassed.
I'm never going to have boobs. I already have the biggest ones in my family so far, and I've traced it down three generations. Also, I talked to my doctor. My chest is not still growing.
She didn't tell me that I could get them in fifth grade, but she did say that I could get them as a high school graduation present. I suggested waiting until I was out of college.

It was just in fifth grade that she agreed to give them as a gift if I wanted them.
PLEASE READ THE DETAILS BEFORE YOU SAY THAT I'M NOT OLD ENOUGH/ I'M NOT DONE GROWING

I SAID THAT I'D WAIT UNTIL I WAS 22 AND I ALSO STATED THAT MY DOCTOR HAS TOLD ME THAT I'M DONE GROWING. BEFORE YOU WASTE MY TIME, READ THE QUESTION'S DETAILS

All I wanted was opinions. Thank you.
    And I'm 14. I skipped a grade.

      It's an individual's personal decision

since feminists say they are champions for women's rights and fair treatment it would look pretty hypocritical if they judged your personal right to choose to have the operation

  50. QUESTION:
Do you recommend breast implants?? Advice from women who have had work done is greatly appreciated!!?
Hello everyone. I am seriously considering breast augmentation but I am getting mixed reactions from friends and family. I have three children and have absolutely no plans to have anymore. Since having children I have gone from a D all the way down to a B. Naturally, it is not something that I am used to and would love to have my old shape back. Although a B does fit my small frame (5'2 115 lbs.) I am not insecure with any aspect of my life but I know I would feel a lot better if I did go through with it. Nothing drastic, I was thinking of a small C.

A friend of mine had hers done and she is unbelievably happy. My main concern is health risks. Does anybody really know what the long term effects are?? Should I do it?? lol Any information or advice would be great.

    • ANSWER:
The same thing happened to me after I had 3 kids (after I nursed them). Sure, it would be nice to get the original ones back, but I don't think it's worth the health risks of having an operation, and having something inserted under the skin. However, I lifted weights for about a year (before an injury sidelined me), and I found that the bench press type exercises increased my pectoral muscles, which in turn, pushed my breasts out, making them seem bigger. So consider this alternative, or even easier, the newer, padded bras they have out now. What message are you sending your kids, if you have an OPERATION for something so superficial? Self-esteem shouldn't depend on our breast size. Also, ask your husband. Mine doesn't want me to risk my health for such a flimsy, vain reason.
