Enhance Your Breasts Naturally

Breast Augmentation Problems

Magazines and movies created an image that big breasted women are adorable and men are attracted to women with big bosom. Most women want to enhance their breasts and this is one of the reasons why breast enhancement surgery is one of the top cosmetic surgeries performed by surgeons yearly. Women who are not endowed with big bosom are willing to subject themselves under the knife to follow the norm and to feel better about their appearance. But do women have to go through breast enhancement surgery and experience the problems with breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation or breast enhancement surgery is a quick solution for women who are suffering from the embarrassment of having small breasts. Although breast size should not be the basis of a person's worth, most people make it difficult for small breasted women to be accepted and to belong to the society they live in. Women with small breasts are often teased, rejected and suffering from negative feelings like insecurities and low self-esteem. Having bigger breasts can boost their confidence, can take away their insecurities and it can give them the acceptance they are looking for. Breast size does matter and it can affect the lives of women in so many ways. Most women ignore the problems with breast augmentation just to achieve their desired breast size.

Before taking the risky steps of surgery, you have to think many times and you have to know the problems with breast augmentation. Aside from the high cost, surgery is always accompanied by a lot of risks. Knowing the common problems with breast augmentation will help you decide about breast enhancement surgery.

Breast augmentation is a risky procedure. I am sure you have heard of stories about breast surgeries that resulted to complications and even death to some women. The reputation of the surgeon who will perform the operation is a big concern that you have to consider. To avoid encountering problems with breast augmentation, you have to be careful and investigate on what you are getting yourself into.

One source of problems with breast augmentation is the implants used in the procedure. Silicone or saline-filled implants are the common implants used to enhance the breast size of the patient. Implants may leak or rupture during or after the operation. Implants rupture could cause minor or serious health issues. These foreign materials are not made to last for a lifetime and they should be replaced after a certain time. Replacement of implants means recurring expenses and you will go through the same surgical operation. Constant monitoring and breast exams are required to monitor the health of your breasts. The maintenance and monitoring of the implants and your breast health can be very expensive.

The problems with breast augmentation are not only with the surgeon and the implants but the recovery time after operation. Aside from the pains during recovery, you may encounter infections, loss of nipple sensation and permanent scarring. The worse thing is when you are not satisfied with the results and you cannot get your old body back.

Although big breast size can positively change your life, you have to be careful in choosing the method that you will use. Your safety and health should be your priority.

    • ANSWER:
      Hi,

Breast massage is one of the best ways to help create a more beautiful bustline by helping to shape, tone and promote growth of the breast and the area surrounding the breast. Not only can moderate breast massage help to make your bustline more attractive and sometimes even grow larger, but it is also an excellent way to keep in tune to your breast health by creating awareness of any fibrous areas of possible indications of breast cancer and some have even claimed moderate breast massage can help to prevent cancer.

Breast massage has been used in beauty parlors and massage parlors, especially in Asia, as a means of healthy lymphatic drainage, breast growth promotion, and as a post operative therapy for women who have undergone mastectomies, breast surgery, or other trauma to the breast area, since it helps break down scar tissues as well as stimulate healing and tissue regeneration.

There has been much speculation that the practice of wearing a bra 12-15 hours per day by most women restricts lymph flow and healthy riddance of toxins, and apart from not wearing a bra, which is not an option for many women in today's societies, breast massage is the best way to help the lymphatic system drain these pent up toxins and help to prevent them from building up and contributing to cancer or other ailments.

By massaging the breasts on a regular basis, many women is Asia have claimed it has enhanced the shape, size and overall attractiveness of their breast, while also giving them a sense of oneness with their femininity, and promoting relaxation and peace of mind, as other methods of body massage do.

Many who practice breast massage for increased breast fullness and beauty also have utilized special herbal serums or creams formulated to further stimulate the breasts into "expanding", firming and toning, creating an overall larger look and correcting sagging, droopiness and other traits deemed unattractive by other individuals.

Here are some guidelines for breast massage you may want to follow:

1.) Use a breast enhancing cream or lubricant - preferably a quality one with natural stimulating herbs and botanicals (see our reviews page for info on Benefil) - of your choice to help prevent friction and increase the enjoyment and relaxation of the massage for a more pleasurable and therapeutic experience. This can be an herbal mixture - there are some good ones out there that really do help to promote firmess and breast tone, while creating a larger and more rounded look.

2.) Light to moderate massaging using a gentle back and forth gentle “swishing” action is best. This can be in a counterclockwise circle around the breast to help promote maximum lymphatic drainage.

3.) To gain maximum benefit and therapeutic effects, breast massage should be practiced daily, as part of a routine - perhaps when fresh out of the shower, since the skin is still somewhat moist and the room may still be steamy, for a smoother massage which may be more easily lubricated since there will still be moisture in the air. If you prefer, even several times a day can be a great benefit. It depends on what fits into your schedule. A few minutes at a time should suffice.

  6. QUESTION:
What is the best area for breast augmentation incisions?
I am going in for breast augmentation in a few months, and I was wondering if anyone who has had implants already could give me some advice. I am leaning towards a trans axillary incision (in the armpit) because I definately do not want the subareolar incision (under the nipple). However, they told me that the armpit incision may cause the implants to be further apart. The other site I was deciding on was inframammary (under the breast in that crease). The only problem is that my breasts are so small that I have no crease right now. If anyone has had the transaxillary incision before, please let me know how the results were. I'm excited but I don't want to be making the wrong decision.
Okay... I did not ask if it was safe or not. Nor did I want information about medical tourism or plastic surgery in India. :P

I would highly recommend you refer to the My Cosmetic Surgery Blog, it is well written by a women who has been through it all (and some procedures a few times). She gives great and informative insight into what its like to go through the cosmetic surgery process. I just read this article she wrote on choosing the right incision, and found it rather informative, here is the link to the article http://www.mycosmeticsurgeryblog.com/home/breast-augmentation-incision-choices-my-experience.html. She has had the transumbilibal and the areolar incisions, however she has information on the axillary incision as well.

  7. QUESTION:
    Problem after breast augmentation?
I'm 19 years old and it's been 7 months since my breast augmentation surgery. The surgeon went through the aerola and since then I haven't been able to feel anything in the nipple area. Is it still too soon or is something wrong?

    • ANSWER:
I think that is pretty normal. Remember that scene in Mean Girls when that dog bites into the mom's.... okay, bad example...

I don't have my breasts augmented, but I found getting my nipple pierced really increased sensitivity.

  8. QUESTION:
If you had a boob job (breast augmentation), will you have a problem if you scuba dive?
Scuba Diving adds pressure as the person goes deeper, and i'm wondering if this will deform your boob job in some way after repetitive scuba diving? Is the materials being used for breast augmentation prepared to take this type of pressure? Or what if you go to a decompression chamber or something?

Just need to know if I should get one done on me since I scuba dive.

  9. QUESTION:
Capsular contracture after a breast augmentation?
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I had asymetrical breast and had an implant put in my left breast to correct the problem. I had my augmentation done in May of 2003 and had a second surgery in March of 2004 to correct the "CC". I believe I have it again.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had "CC" after augmentation and what you did for it? How many times did you have it?

    • ANSWER:
sorry, i never got it, but i feel for you. I am sorry that you are having this re-occuring problem. I believe you should contact your surgeon and have him check it out. As you know, this is nothing to play with. Good luck!

  10. QUESTION:
Will my breast get smaller after swelling of breast augmentation goes down?
I had breast augmentation last wednesday..I got my stitches removed this 2 days ago and the Dr told me that I still had significant swelling. My problem is that I'm happy with the size of them now and I don't want them to get significantly smaller :(
Will they? How much does size change after the swelling goes down?

    • ANSWER:
Its always different, but after they drop and fluff, they may be even bigger. Its hard to tell.
You can always make them appear larger by wearing tight fitting tops or button ups. Dont worry.

  11. QUESTION:
Can I have breast augmentation without first removing the lump in my breast?
I had a mammogram to rule out a lump that has been in my breast for about 15 years. They suggested I have it removed, but project a benign outcome. However, I am having my breasts lifted with implants placed. Will this lump pose a problem? There is no time to have it removed before the surgery, and I am doing it with my friend, so I would like to go ahead with my scheduled appointment.
I realize what the risks are; I have talked with my doctor about it, and she feels it is not a lump of concern. What I am asking is can I have it removed after the augmentation? I do plan on speaking to my surgeon, I just thought someone out there might have had a similar experience.

    • ANSWER:
      Good Evening,
You really should go on the advise of your doctor and have it removed before the surgery. What we are really talking about my dear is a your doctor wants you to have a biopsy it does not mean you have breast cancer. Most breast lumps are not cancer. However, having a biopsy (removal and testing of a suspicious area of the breast) is the only way to know for sure. See a doctor about any changes in your breasts. Even if you do need a biopsy, it is encouraging to know that 4 of every 5 biopsy results are not cancer.
But, We are talking about life and death in some cases. After the surgery you can get the breast augmentation done as well as he can fix that area better..

I really feel that you should not proceed with the augmentation tell your friend what is going on and how much it means to you to do this together. If she wants to continue go to be her support and I am sure she will go with you later to be your support.

Please think of the other people around you..Do you want to possibly take a chance with your life. Think of how others would be affected by your decision. Please don't play with your life. This is a very serious matter Hun do not treat it as if it isn't.

  12. QUESTION:
Has anyone breastfed after breast augmentation?
My second child is due soon and I breastfed with the first and want to do the same for the second but this time I have breast implants. Has anyone had success with this? After you were done did you need to redo surgery from sagging or any other problems?

    • ANSWER:
I got my implants in 1999 (over the muscle, saline). I started to breastfeed my daughter but my supply was low. It is really hard to tell if it was because of the implants or because she was low birth wieght and may have had a weak suck. I would consult your plastic surgeon and a lactation consultant and see what their experience has been. I haven't had surgery to redo my implants but they are not really sagging as I only breastfed for two months. If it helps, I have heard of women who have successfully breastfed with implants, unfortunately, this was my experience. Good Luck!

  13. QUESTION:
Why do some people have problems with small breasts?
I don't get why some people are so obsessed with large breasts. Or why some women think their breasts aren't good enough, so they go get breast augmentation. My girlfriend has small breasts and I think they're wonderful. Maybe it's because I've generally been attracted to petite girls, but I just happen to find smaller breasts perfectly attractive. They don't need to be huge, small perky ones are great too.

So why do some people have problems with them?

    • ANSWER:
I have no idea. I like bosoms of all sizes.

  14. QUESTION:
Any recommendations on a Doctor for Breast Implants?
I live in the Dallas Tx. area and I have already found a cosmetic surgeon, Im getting a Breast Augmentation. Only problem is I would like to hear of any other Doctors in the area that you would recommend having done great work. Please let me know..

    • ANSWER:
I don't live in the area, but make sure you do your research on Cosmetic Surgeons. I went online and did background checks and visited a couple for the consultation before I chose one. My surgeon spent 1-1/2 hrs. talking to me and telling me what my options where. I also had to get a lot of medical tests done to make sure I wouldn't have any reactions later with implants. Good Luck!

  15. QUESTION:
    Breast augmentation question?
So I've recently began thinking about breast aug because my breasts have changed and I don't know why. One is alot larger than the other one. One is between an A and B cup and the other is almost a C. If it weren't for this, I don't think I'd be thinking about breast augmentation. Have you had this problem, and what do plastic surgeons do to make them the same size? Is one silicone bigger than the other one?

  16. QUESTION:
How old do you have to be to have breast augmentation in Canada?
I'm 17, but I can tell from genetics they're not coming, I'm not asking for an answer to a psychological or self esteem problem, I just need help with this. Thanks,

    • ANSWER:
A breast augmentation is a reduction of the breasts.
I think you're trying to ask about IMPLANTS.

And I'm pretty sure you have to be AT LEAST 18, and the doctor has to examine you and he/she decides where to go fom there.

  17. QUESTION:
Breast augmentation question/ top of breast flatter than bottom?
I am 21, 5'8 and 1/2, and 145 lbs, in good shape. and in Victoria secret im about a 34c, maybe a TINY bit smaller, never had any kids and I am self conscious of my boobs...

I am planning on having kids one day, and I know they say wait until after you have kids, but I DEFINITLY dont want to wait that long..that would be 2 or 3 years from now. I guess its not so much my size, but the shape of them...they are round and pretty perky but the only thing that bothers me is that they are kind of flat at the top and rounder at the bottom but not abnormal looking?
I hate hate hate this. I even went to a consultation to a plastic surgeon and he said that. i had the surgery scheduled but something happened to where I couldnt get the breast augmentation. Is there anyone out there that has the "flat top of the breast" problem too and has had a breast augmenation done? What were your results?

    • ANSWER:
Hmm...honestly...there are NO women who have naturally rounded out breasts. I'm 22, with a 34 C almost...mainly a full B, and they are just like they should be. I really wouldn't suggest getting surgery if I were you. They would most likely end up looking extremely fake, and don't believe what you see in photos, like models photos. They are ALL altered. TRUST me. I modeled for a few years, and they always altered the pics. If your breasts are perky and round, they are perfect. Nobody has bowling ball breasts naturally, and personally, I think men prefer the natural look over the fake, obviously altered breasts.

  18. QUESTION:
    3 Years breast augmentation changes..?
I received a breast augmentation three years ago.
I didn't have any problems until now.
My breasts seem to be a lot harder and smaller than they were.. but I'm unsure if this is CC.
Does this happen 3 years down the line? They don't look different but certainly feel it.
I've lost weight, so perhaps this has something to do with it?
Also, I've noticed heaps of ugly stretch marks on them which weren't there before.
Not having a good boob day. Any advice?

    Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
i havnt had mine done for as long as you but if you have lost weight than they will get a bit smaller, they may be harder because now there is less fat surrounding the implants?
also start using bio oil once a day, a quick rub over in the morning or at night and those stretch marks will disapear in no time! and it will also prevent you getting more.

  19. QUESTION:
What do you think about breast augmentation?
My fiancee is always been happy with my body. The other day, for some reason, we were talking about breast augmentation. He said that they would look great on me because it fits my body. It's not like he suggested I would be better or anything like that because he is always been happy with the way I am. He told me that if I wanted, he would pay for it. At fisrt I said no, but now I am kind of thinking about it since there is no problems when you breast feed a baby (according to the doctors). Now I think it would be nice to give him a sorprise at the honey moon and also in my weeding since the dress would fit me better as a matter of fact. .

what people have to say about this?

Give me a reasonable advice or comment please

  20. QUESTION:
whats the chances of dying from a breast augmentation?
im a young, fit person and considering all the anesthesia problems ive heard it scares me a little, but im just curious to know ...

    • ANSWER:
instead of trying to scare or discourage you like the 2 previous answers I will just answer your questions.
When it comes to surgery, there is always a risk. No matter how small or large the procedure is. That being said, there are factors that can contribute to a safer out come or a bad outcome. Things like being 100% honest with your surgeon when doing the initial consultation. Letting the surgeon know how often you smoke, drink, your sleeping habits, your eating habits, if you have any allergic reactions to anything, if your family has any history of illness or anything that could contribute to potential problems. Following the advice of your surgeon exactly. If he says do not drink for certain amount of days then do what he says.
Your body weight can cause problems if you are too heavy or too skinny.
Also one that many people forget is to do the research on your surgeon. Make sure the doctor is qualified to perform the procedure. Make sure he has his licenses and any board certifications. Make sure the anesthesiologist is licensed and the equipment they use are up to date and practice current standards.
Ask to see plenty before and after pictures of patients the surgeon has worked on. Ask as many questions you can.
The more honest and open the dialogue between you and your surgeon is the better chance you have to have a successful and happy outcome with your surgery.
And remember you often get what you pay for, so if they price seems too good to be true, it probably is.

  21. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation Experiences?
I'm 20 years old and really considering getting a breast augmentation. Any stories, and or experiences would be very helpful. How was the surgery (I'm terribly scared of getting surgery!) Any problems? How bad was the pain..can the implants pop or need to be replaced after so long? Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
My story- to start I'm 19 years old. I got my breast implants done 3 months ago. I love them!!! ... I knew I wanted this since I was like uuummm 16, i come from a small chest family but with big hips and butts LOL. But I love breast! I just think they are nice...and I wanted mine to be nice too... Well when I turned 18 I went for my first consultation... The doctor seemed good but due to a death in the family I had to cancel my surgery date. 7 months later I found my doctor! He was perfect!!! That was what he specialist in "breast only"... I saw pictures of his work and I was recommended by two women. The day of my surgery, I was super nervous, my mayor fear was how they were gonna look... But when i was ready (in the surgical table) i was having fears of not waking up or being able to feel the pain. I told my bf i wanted to leave LOL. but i couldn't! Everything was paid and I was ready for surgery. After the surgery... I felt like i was drunk... All i could do or say was "i want to lay on my side" the nurse keep insisting that i couldn't. Ive never slept in my back and im thinking since my chest was so heavy my back was hurting so bad. One the way home i remember so parts.... but every lil bump on the road felt like i was being punch in my chest. I got home and didn't wake up till the next day. I didn't care about my boobs or even looked down to see them till the 3rd day LOL. I looked at them and they were HUGE! LOL. but the pain was bad. I needed help to get up, lay down, eat, brush my hair, take showers, go to the rest room any thing you could think of.... but i didnt want to be home. My boyfriend took me to the mall on my 4th day because i wanted to walk around. OMG! Every time i would go outside (november) it was freezing and my breast got really tight and heavy that i couldnt walk any more. The pain was major!!! .... well 3 months later... i still have the scars...i hope i cant see them soon...but all i can tell you that it was all worth it!!! I love them and i would do it all over again without a doubt. Make sure you resarch your doctor and you feel good about it. I always go with my gut feeling. BTW I was an A cup and went to a full B. This was a big diffrence cof me. Oh btw yes they can pop but the implants have this insurance for 00 if they pop in the next 10 years they have to replace them and i got an extra insurance for 0 that will cover up to 00.... Email me if you have any more questions.

  22. QUESTION:
Can other health problems can come from breast implants?
I had a silicone breast augmentation when I was 18 because of some sort of hormone problem they never figured out (I never developed breast tissue). I'm 20 now, and last 6 months I've had TONS of random health problems like swelling stomach, stomach pain, fatigue, just feeling tired and weak, neurological things like shooting nerve pain and small muscle spasms, pressure in my forehead (tension headache?), sore throat on my left side....a few other minor things.

My parents and I were talking about it and we think they all must relate somehow, I mean, it all started happening at the same time.

Could it be from my implants, or something else?

I am thinking about getting a Breast augmentation, recuperation time.?
I like to know if I could recuperate within 4 days only. I need to go back to work. If there would be any problems in results. I work standing,( Dental assistant ) Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
While you will experience the majority of pain within the first 48 hours after surgery, you will be able to return to work within a few days. After your surgery and during your recovery period you should wear a surgical bra for proper support. • ANSWER:
No problems at all, as long as the implants are behind the muscle.

  26. QUESTION:
    Breast implant question-husband problems?
I have had small breasts all my life. I've never liked them, and was occasionally made fun of in school. Now that I'm 30 and am done having and nursing kids, I am considering getting size B breast augmentation because now they are even smaller than before. I've done TONS of research on it and have had a consultation with a plastic surgeon.
The only problem is my husband. He is totally against it. It hurts more than anything because I have supported him through so many things in his life. I've taken classes to learn more about his hobby (raising rodeo bulls), have agreed to move in with my father in law since his wife died, let my husband decorate our walls with nothing but deer antlers and other various animals, and other numerous things.
He's trying to say (this week) that it's a money thing. Bull crap. He spends thousands of dollars on his rodeo business-and sure, it makes us money, but why can't he skip just one purchase to let me do this one thing??

    • ANSWER:
Maybe he is worried you will get too much attention for the other men. Tell him that this is non-negotiable either he allows you to get a breat augmentation surgery or he can find a new wife. I know it sounds harse but really you put up with all his shit and dead crap hanging from your walls and raising his kids, helping him with this business you deserve something for yourself. Ask him if he loves you if he responds by saying yes then tell him then he would be supportive and respectful rather then shutting everything you want down.

Take the money and get it done he will probably like the new you oncew he sees them for himself. He is probably worried you may change and feel you can get a better guy. Let him know that he is the only man for you and your doing this for you and him and no one else.

      God Bless and Breast Wishes.

    breast augmentation surgery?
I just had breast augmentation surgery yesterday and they were placed under the muscle, I am experiencing a lot of back pain especially around my shoulder blades. Is this normal to have back pain as well as breast pain. Also how long does it take to start unswelling? One of my breast pre-surgery was a little larger, now the other one seems to be a little bigger is that just both breast unswell at separate rates? Has anyone had this surgery and what problems have you experienced? Thankyou for your answers...

    • ANSWER:
i had my surgery just over 3 weeks ago. mine were placed under the muscle too. my back just started feeling better at about the 3 week mark. it was very very tight until then. Also, my chest (to breathe) was very tight. I have bruising on my right arm and around the sides of my rib cage, under the breast area. this bruising did not surface as visible yellow bruising until week 2, now it is turning to the black & blue type. Right after surgery both of my breasts looked completely different even though there was no asymetry to start with. They are finally starting to look more and more alike. the right side is definately healing at a slower rate than the left, though the right implant has actually dropped more than the left. so weird and frankly, freaking me out. my dr. assures me that everything will even out and it usually takes 3 months before things look "normal". Still, i am concerned. i just have to keep reminding myself that even though it feels like longer, this has only been 3 weeks.

      Hope this helps.

  29. QUESTION:
What size breast implants would suit me?
I'm 5 foot 6, and 120 pounds. Currently my breast size is a 36 A. Lately I have been really considering a breast augmentation to be fuller, and have more cleavage. What breast size would be more ideal for my body type? I was thinking of a 36 DD, but I know I'll probably have back problems if I go too big. Is 36 DD too ambitious? Thanks in advance!

    • ANSWER:
At 5'6 and 120 lbs., a 36 DD would make you look FABULOUS. As for back problems, I don't know. Some women complain about that, but most don't. I'd talk to a doctor regarding that.

  30. QUESTION:
What do breast implants have to do with the patient's social life?
I'm a girl who is interested in breast augmentation because I'm a really small-breasted girl. So if I undergo this procedure, will I improve my relationships? I found out that girls who got this procedure done had a history of psychiatric hospitalizations or other sort of problems.

    • ANSWER:
I'm willing to bet that those girls probably needed psych help BEFORE the surgeries.

You will probably improve the number of men from which you can choose your mates, but you will be unlikely to improve the quality of them. Unless of course, you are so shallow as to believe that simply improving the looks and bankrolls of your potential partners is tantamount to an overall improvement.

  31. QUESTION:
can you use someone elses fat for fat transfer breast augmentation?
im very skinny with small boobs, and i have a friend with DDDs and shes a little big. we have joked about using her fat to put into my boobs before, but i litterally just heard that fat transfer breast augmentation is a real procedure. i know its supposed to use your own fat, but is there a possibility of using someone elses fat? im worried i wouldnt have enough fat, and my friend is serious about getting a breast reduction someday because of back pain and other problems. so why let that extra boobage go to waste when someone like me needs it?
i know there would definitely be more risks, but is it a possibility?
another question...could they take a small amount of fat from my own body? i only weigh around 120lbs so im not sure how any plastic surgeon would feel about lipo on me, but i do have some fat in my thighs that i could lose, just not sure if they could or would take only a small amount. i only want to go up about a cup size.
would i be able to find someone with similar fat tissue?

    • ANSWER:
I wish you could do this but the answer is i don't think so. make if the fat was removed and distilled some how.

The truth is that you will grow into the right breast size for you. Your friend may end up staying a DDD or she might lose weight and go down a cup or so. You might end up going up to a DDD or a G cup. It's possible who knows.

  32. QUESTION:
    Breast feeding after breast augmentation?
I had a breast augmentation about 7 years ago. Before I had it done, I literally had nothing. I could barely fit into a training bra. My implants are under the muscle and saline. I love the way they look, and I am very happy that I had it done. Now I am almost 38 weeks pregnant and planning to breast feed. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this and encountered any problems? Also, how will they look after I wean my son? Will I need to get a lift or anything? I work in a field that is highly dependent upon physical appearance, so I am not just being vain. It's really important to me and my family's future, but not as important t as my son's health.

    • ANSWER:
Yes you can breastfeed as long as the milk ducts weren't damaged. Have you had any colostrum leaking yet? That could be a good sign. At your next dr appointment talk with them about your concerns. They should have a breastfeeding consultant at the hospital too that can help you. As far as looks go, you will probably have some sagging from the pregnancy. Thats just from gaining weight and has nothing to do with breastfeeding. Good luck!

  33. QUESTION:
Just had Breast Augmentation a week ago. My left breast is significantly bigger than right one. Is this normal?
I called my plastic surgeons nurse and she said its probably swelling and to wait a month to tell for sure what they look like. Has anyone had this same problem?

    • ANSWER:
they could both end up looking the same and they both might not. you never know how they will turn out. on the bright side, if they aren't the same size, they can be fixed in 10 yrs when you need to pay another 5-10 grand for new implants because they don't last forever.

  34. QUESTION:
    Painful Breasts before breast augmentation?
For the past week or so my breasts have been very sore, I am not sure why. I am going to call my physician after I get out of work, just wondered if anyone had similar problems.

The top two reasons I think they are sore is one,
I am a AA and I were very tight water bras every day and never sleep without it on. I figured I may have bruised them?

The other thing is, my period has been irregular the past few months, 3 months ago I had a period for 39 days, the next month I was 13 days late for my period. I usually start on the 20th, but last month I started on the 3rd, so I am guessing this month I will also start tomorrow. Could it be my hormones being messed up?

Oh yeah, and I did a self breast exam and found nothing and I am 20yrs old by the way.

The reason I am asking is because I am scheduled for a breast augmentation on the 28th of May, I don't want to have to cancel it, I've wanted this since I was 15yrs old. Which is why I am hesitant about talking to my surgeon because he may think I am still growing, even though I am flat and have been this size since I hit puberty in the 4th grade. Any help would be great

    • ANSWER:
I think I answered one or more of your questions before - so I am not trying to persuade you or anything.

But it seems to me that all your questions - and the pain too - might (just might) be the alarm bells from your heart, because it really thinks that the whole plastic breasts thing is cruel and unkind, and it would be a sad way to finally give in to some thoughts that have been pestering your life since you were 15.

If that might be the case, promise me at least you will postpone, so long as you don't feel completely nice about it.

It is not that you have to choose between being defenseless against perstering thoughts for the rest of your life or get implants with all the worries and sufferings that entails.

You do have that options of becoming completely of those thoughts - not that they perhaps wouldn't recur once in a while, but so that you are not really affected by them anymore.

And on top of that, imagine for a moment the joy your little breasts would feel, if they were really loved and well protected. They would no doubt be the most loving and thrilled in the land.

That would be a sweet end to your story. So do think about what you would be missing out on. And please, anything you'd like to discuss about, send me a mail (you can have my real one too: khadresse@yahoo.dk).

I don't want anything from you - but my wife is AA too (and was even smaller at 20) so I know this stuff a bit ;o)

      all the best

  35. QUESTION:
Does breast augmentation surgery need to be repeated multiple times throughout one's life?
This is humiliating, but here I go...

I am 18.5 years old and have virtually no breasts. I've done some research on the Internet and found a condition called "breast hypoplasia" that seems to describe my problem - abnormal underdevelopment of breast tissue. I can't fit into a size 'A' bra and have the same development of roughly a 12- or 13-year-old (I can assure you that I am not exaggerating). I have never had a boyfriend, and because of my problem, the thought of intimacy is terrifying. Not a day goes by when I don't experience an aweful sense of inadequacy along with worry about my future.

I told my doctor about my physiological condition, and she ran hormone blood tests, but they all came back optimal. I have a larger lower side (I'm pear-shaped) and can't help but feel disgustingly disproportionate. I have friends who look like walking toothpicks, and even they can fill an 'A' cup. My sister and mother are both 'B's, which is the size I would like to aim for; I don't want to be 'big,' I just want to be normal.

If I were to have breast augmentation surgery, would it be a one-time deal, or would I have to go back various times throughout my life and get them re-done? At what age am I old enough to have this surgery performed?

    Thank you for your help.

    • ANSWER:
Ok, you are old enough to get the surgery. Most doctors will find your case acceptable and will go ahead with the surgery. But, they will recommend saline implants, because if you lack breast tissue silicone will not form correctly, and you will look really fake, not normal. Sometimes if something goes wrong with the implant, they will have to do surgery to repair. When you get older, you may "sag" just like if they were real, and they might have to re-do the implant sizes and lift them. I know that saline implants are very safe. The look and feel real and if something happens, the saline will not harm your body. Find a board certified plastic surgeon though. One with a lot of credentials and has done it for at least 10 years. The higher qualified doctor will return the best results. Good luck!!

  36. QUESTION:
Can I sue for a breast augmentation in which they made my lung collapse?
I had a breast augmentation done, durning the process my lung was nicked. It collapsed according to the doctor about two hours after surgery. He called in all sorts of doctors to fix the lung. I had a chest tube put in, and woke up in ICU a few days later not knowing what when on. It took the last day of my hospital stay, which was one week and one day, to get the doctor to actually tell me what happened. I still don't believe his version. I would like to know if there are grounds to sue. I am still having problems, I was sent home with an oxygen machine and 4 tanks of oxygen. Is this a botch job?? I don't understand how my lung can get knicked during this proceedure. There are too many things in between to go through the ribs and such to knick my lung. Are there grounds and what do I do?? Not to mention they are not the same size. The left is noticably bigger than the right. And I still have a lot of pain. It's only been since Oct. 15th of this year.

    • ANSWER:
Of course you can. Sue for malpractice. Take care.

  37. QUESTION:
Has anyone had breast augmentation? Any Regrets?
I am in my 20's and have had a small "A" cup my entire life. I am plannning on getting a boob job in December. I don't want to go too big, maybe just larger C's.

I wanted to know if anyone had small breast and got them augmented? Any regrets? Was it harder to find clothes? Back Problems? Did they "sag" after a year? I just want to know an insider's opinion. You can only do so much research before you have to ask someone who has actually had it. Thanks!

    • ANSWER:
i am 21 and i just had a brest augmenation a few days ago . I have always been a small A all my life and I just wanted to proportional. I was soo scared of going too big ! i didnt want it to be obvious thta I had something done so I opted to be a mid c...but my doctor used the 350's and said I looked ridiculous so he backed me down to a 250. I am happy that I fianlly have some boobs but they are a small c and now that I am looking at them I wish I would have gone a little bigger. My best advice is go about 50-100cc's bigger than you think. If you have a good doctor he will adjust them tastefully with sizers before putting in the final implants.

  38. QUESTION:
Wife is pressuring my daughter to get breast implants?
My wife and I have been married for 10 years and we get along great. However, I am raising a daughter from my first marriage and I have been running into some problems at home. My daughter is 15 and is an absolutely beautiful child, but my wife - her step-mom - keeps on pressuring her to look more sexy. In fact, last week she took her to a plastic surgeon for a breast augmentation consultation. My wife has "fake boobs" since she was 18 and says that they've changed her life. She just wants to extend her experience to my daughter, so she says. I find this behavior absolutely reprehensible and am thinking about divorcing my wife and having her take my daughter with her, especially since my wife has already entrenched her into Brittany Spears teeny bopper whore idolization. My ex wife - my daughter's biological mom - was a porn star and I don't want my daughter turning into one, too.

    • ANSWER:
"She just wants to extend her experience to my daughter,"

      Wrong!

As a woman with breast implants, I can tell you that she is using your daughter to validate her own choice to get them.

Your 15 y/o is very impressionable right now, talk like that should NOT be going on!!

  39. QUESTION:
Odd Feelings A Year After Breast Augmentation...
I've had my breast implants for almost a year now. I went from a 32A to a 32 small C, Under the muscle, Silicone Gel. I haven't really had any problems that were not normal. But recently my right breast seems harder and my left has a weird pain under it. Not something that is extremely painful but like a twinge. Is this normal. I'm right handed and I do some lifting at work so I think that is why my right breast is hard. But I don't know about the Left, it kind of feels like it's detaching but I don't think this would happen after a year. What could it be with both of my issues for each breast?

And then later on after breast augmentation you decide you want to have a baby. What are the precautions of being pregnant and already having breast implants? And then soon after you give birth and want to breast feed, will it still be possible to breast feed while the implants are present in the breast.

    • ANSWER:
Yes you can still breastfeed after breast augmentation.....your milk ducts are still there and are able to produce enough of milk....I dont know the precaustions of getting breast augmentation while pregnant but to me it does not sound safe but I am not a doctor

  41. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation- Plastic Surgery?
I am a 19 female and is it normal for one boob to be larger than the other one because that's my problem my left breast is larger than my right one Do i need to go visit a Plastic Surgery to get a boob job done ?

  42. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation / Uneven Breasts?
My breasts are really uneven and its really a source of self confidence issues for me. I realize that "most women do have this problem, ect" but I don't think "most women" have this problem as drastically. My right is a D cup and my left is a B / small C maybe. I hate going to the beach, wearing low cut tops, and will not get undressed in front of anyone, period. I can't even find bras that fit correctly and its very embarrasing. Anyway I definitely want to have this fixed and I've read that the only way to fix it is breast Augmentation. Has anyone had this procedure, especially with a similar problem? Could you tell me about the downtime, costs, and pain? Would you recommend it or do it again?

    Thanks everyone!

    • ANSWER:
Well I'm 18 years old and just had a breast augmentation for the same exact reason, I had one much larger than the other. My right breast was a B-C cup and my left was nearly an A cup. I had a minor lift to the larger one and augmentation too even out the breast. The incsion was made thru- the areola to resize and even them out. I went in to surgery at 7:33am and was done with surgery at 8:38am. I was awake at 9am and left home at 9:30am. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and I have healed perfectly they look exactly alike. I am in no pain, you only feel pressure the 1st 2 days and not even only in between the time that the pain killers rub off and you take more. They are already are starting to feel so natural. I am now a full C. I paid $ 5,500.00 (you can finance with no intrest). I used Silicone I recommend it.

  43. QUESTION:
    Breast augmentation and skydiving...?
I wanted to go skydiving and was very excited until my brother-in-law asked jokingly if the pressure would do something to my breast implants. At first I just looked at him wierd. Now it has me wondering. Has anyone with saline implants gone skydiving? Any problems?

    • ANSWER:
Ok, just give it some serious, sensible thought. Could a Dr. really get away with putting something in you that was so sensitive that you could not continue activity? In a word no! your breasts will be fine. My ex and I went both sky diving and scuba diving while on a vacation and she never exploded or leaked or had any pain. The saline bags are made for vigorous use including pressure changes associated with human activity. Implants will usually withstand any enviromnent that will sustain life. Now should you be UFO abducted and taken to Jupiter...no promises!! Go ahead and enjoy your skydive! It really is one of the most memorable experiences that you will ever have! Good Luck and Good Fun!

  44. QUESTION:
    Nipple Placement in Breast Lift/Augmentation?
I'm thinking about getting a lift or augmentation. I was wondering if a plastic surgeon could move nipples or place and implant in a position to where my nipples will be more in the middle instead of being off to the side without having cut my nipple off? Also what's the best way to get a breast implant inserted (ie above the muscle, behind the muscle, through the armpit, ect) when you go from a C cup to a D or DD cup? Also I read that ultrasonic therapy can help prevent Capsular Contracture. Is that true? What are some health problems that would make you a bad candidate for breast implants? Also is it better to lost weight (if you are overweight) before you have the surgery? If I got implants behind the muscle (and since I'm a C cup), would my breasts feel natural? Is it possible that sleeping on your stomach could rupture implants or will just severe injury cause this? Please post info. Thanks.
Also my nipples mostly point straight down and are probably considered to be on the underside of my breasts. Also my breasts sag because they're very heavy.
Also are smooth implants the best or another kind? I'm getting saline implants.
Also which feels more natural: Smooth implants or textured ones?
Is there a way to lift my breasts without having cut my nipple off and have large scars?
Which is better: round or teardrop?
It's not that I want implants in my body. I'd just actually like to have nice looking breasts. I was put on steriods and I lost a 100 pounds (my breasts sagged horribly before that but now they're worse). If I wanted to have a horrible body, I would never have bothered to lose the weight.
    I don't have cable.

    • ANSWER:
Usually I would field some of you questions - I'm an operating room nurse and have assisted with augmentations for breast cancer patients - but you just have too many questions. Go see a plastic surgeon and bring in a written list of questions.

One recommendation - do not - absolutely DO NOT - just go to the cheapest surgeon! Any person who has gone through a surgical residency can call themselves a plastic surgeon. Make sure that the person you are seeing has done a fellowship in plastic surgery and is in good standing with the national association of plastic surgeons. Ask to see photos of their past work - they should have quite a few for you to look at. You will be spending alot of money to have your surgery - so spend it wisely. Cheaper is definitely not better when it comes to stuff like this. Make appointments with a few doctors and talk to them all about what you want done.

      Good luck!

  45. QUESTION:
Why are there so many "male enhancement" pills but still no miracle pill to enlarge breasts?
Seriously. The breast enhancement pills and creams have never worked for women. What happened? Now there's hundreds of pills for male enhancement, and Viagra is even covered by insurance! Classified as a "medical dysfuntion." Isn't it just typical? If this were a man's problem, breast augmentations would become medically covered under every health insurance plan. Double standards are alive and well. Thoughts anyone?

    • ANSWER:
Wow, I never thought of that before. Good question! lol. I toataly agree with you.

  47. QUESTION:
    Breast Augmentation Questions.?
I'm getting a breast augmentation done in October in Thailand. I'm getting silicone through the armpit, under the muscle, going from an A to C.

I was wondering how long was it until you were up and about and well enough to be walking around?

I would like to be able to enjoy myself while I'm there, but I'm not sure if that'll be an option.

I'm fairly resilient when it comes to pain and I heal fairly well.

When sizing, did you decide to go larger or smaller than originally intended? I know I'll talk it over with the PS, but just want some input from others.

Did anyone have a problem with not being able to get the size you wanted because of lack of breast tissue?

I was thinking moderate profile, but my husbands been liking high profile, because I'm flat on the top and round on the bottom. Has anyone noticed a huge difference between the two when sizing at 300cc?

Please no people telling me I'll grow some or that i've been brainwashed please. If you don't agree with my decision, don't answer.

    Thanks Everyone!

    • ANSWER:
Most women feel a bit sore and tired the first day or two after surgery, but are up and around on the third day. Most pain can be managed by prescribed medication.

A few days later any gauze bandages come off which will necessitate the wearing of a special support bra. Wear it as long as your doctor recommends, as it helps your breasts conform to their new shape. Any stitches are removed after about 7 days, although swelling often takes three to five weeks to fully disappear.

Most people return to work within a few days. Most surgeons limit physical activity and exercise for three to four weeks because of increased sensitivity. Scars will begin to fade after about six weeks, becoming almost imperceptable by 6 months.

After a few weeks, most women find their new shape more than satisfying; it is thrilling. Regular checkups protect against complications, and the benefits of a breast augmentation far outweigh any initial discomfort.

As far as the size decision, I think 300 cc would be fine if you are going for proportional.

  48. QUESTION:
    I'm having a breast augmentation...?
I have already thought about this for a very long time, and have no doubts or regrets. I'm doing it in a week. The only problem is... I have not told my boyfriend. We have only been dating four months, we are in love and close but I am too embarrassed to tell anyone I amhaving it done. Clearly, I've got some self esteem issues, which is why I am doing this, to boost my self esteem and make me feel better about myself. I am in my 20s, and done growing. I am only 5'2" and am very small, I feel like no one takes me seriously because I am so small and childlike. The breast augmentation is not going to make me look huge or fake, I am just going up a cup size, maybe a cup and a half... so I can fill out my bikini. The problem with not telling my boyfriend... I am not telling him. I do not want to. But my question is... what do I tell him? It's horrible, but I made up some excuse saying I am having surgery on my breasts, but he does not know its breast augmentation. He thinks its some bacteria thing and they are just going in to suck it out... I told him my breasts would be swollen after, and then go down. Which the doctor said was true. So after the surgery they will be larger.. and my dr. said after a few weeks they will go down once they settlein my body. My boyfirend will not be able to have physical contact with them for awhile... the only idea I have is to tell him that they have grown. If he doesnt touch them for three or so weeks, do you think it's possible he will believe that they have actually grown? IS there anything else I could say? I know this sounds horrible that I lied to him. But I am reallllly self conscious about my chest, obviously why I'm getting this done... so self conscious that I don't want anyone to know about it. Please if you have anything mean or negative to say, don't bother. I won't read negative comments. I'm only looking for positive encouragement. Thanks

    • ANSWER:
      Minky,

First let me tell you I've been a Physician Assistant for over 25 years so I' have some experience with issues like this.

What you tell and who you tell is entirely up to you and there really is no moral "right" or "wrong". But with that said, telling the truth is almost always the easiest and best thing in the long run. Even if you've already told him it's because of infection or whatever it will be easier to spill the beans.

And this really applies to everyone. If you make up some story now, you will always be worried that the truth will come out some way. That anxiety will be in the back of your mind and nobody likes that.

By telling him the truth, his response will tell you a lot about your relationship. When we genuinely love someone, we want for them what they want for them self. We may disagree and express that but it's done in a loving way. Often when we're open and honest about something that is obviously difficult for us, it shows we are "honest'. In your BF's mind he will be thinking, if she can be honest about this difficult subject, she will be honest about other things as well. That trust creates a better relationship. Just the opposite is true if he finds out later you were not open with him. If you do tell him and any other significant other (like family) you will feel much relief, even if they don't agree.

A quote from Wayne Dyer I really like is "be independent of the good opinion of other people". In other words don't worry about what other people think of you. There will always be some who agree and some who don't. You can't please everyone so don't try.

I've worked a lot with gay men and the ones who were in the closet almost always were not as happy as those who were open and didn't give a rip about what others thought.

Good luck, what you decide to do is up to you.

      BTW, I'm administrator of http://san-francisco-plastic-surgeon.com

  49. QUESTION:
My g/f recently had complications from a breast augmentation. Does she have a good malpractice case?
My girlfriend recently had complications from breast augmentation surgery. Does she have go a malpractice cas
After her initial sub-muscular breast enhancement surgery, my g/f complained of severe pain in her left arm. The pain increased throughout the day and was to the point that night where the max dose of pain medication was not even touching the pain. Her left breast was swollen more than 2xs the size of her right one. I called her doctor at 9:30 PM that night and he agreed to come look at her. After seeing her, he said he didn't know why her arm was hurting and that he didn't think anything was wrong, and that he would be back at 8 AM to check on her. At 5:30 AM, she passed out and became unresponsive. We calle 911 and the ambulance took her to the ER. It was determined that she had a Hematoma in her left breast, and emergency surgery was performed by her surgeon to correct the problem. Does she have a case of negligence, since the doctor said nothing was wrong when clearly she was in excrutiating pain and had such severe swelling? Shouldn't he have suspected hematoma?

    • ANSWER:
Hematoma is a known complication of surgery, and was undoubtedly on the lengthy surgical consent form that she signed (and probably initialed each page of).

Not recognizing the hematoma might have been negligent, but you're going to have to prove damages, not from the hematoma itself, but from the delay in diagnosis. That is, if it had been evacuated at night instead of in the morning, something would have been dramatically different.

I'm guessing that you'd have a very difficult time making a case for that, and an even more difficult time finding a lawyer to take the case. Not enough money in it.
