Also known as Augmentation Mammoplasty, the procedure involves placement of implants beneath the breast tissue to increase fullness and projection of your breasts, improve the balance of your figure, and enhance your self-image and self confidence. It also restores breast volume after weight reduction and pregnancy. However, breast augmentation does not correct severely drooping breasts. If you want your breasts to look fuller and to be lifted due to sagging, a breast lift or mastopexy may be required in conjunction with breast augmentation.
Two types of implants are commonly used, silicone and saline. Contrary to popular belief, silicone implants are FDA approved and has NOT been shown to cause connective tissue disease and cancer. Saline and silicone implants have their own advantages and disadvantages.
The procedure is generally performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia and takes about 1 to 2 hours to complete. Common incision locations include the inframammary fold (breast crease), in the underarm (transaxillary), or around the areola (periareolar). Choice of incision is dependent on patient's preference and the surgeon's comfort. It is in the patient's best interest to have the surgeon explain all the advantages and disadvantages of all types of incisions used during breast augmentation. Placement of implants beneath the chest wall muscle or directly behind breast tissue using pre-filled silicone implants or implants filled with saline during surgery creates the desired volume.
Moderate pain and swelling are to be expected after surgery. The swelling should subside in 2-4 weeks. Elastic bandages are applied after the procedure to keep the implants in place and help reduce swelling. The incision lines will continue to flatten and fade for up to 1 year.

QUESTION:
Does a woman who has had breast augmentation in another country have to pay import taxes when she goes home?
Just thinking about how ridiculous this sounds has got me thinking. If I buy a diamond ring, in Dubai for example, I AM required to pay taxes on this ring when I return to my home country. So, would the same hold true for someone having (more affordable) breast augmentation surgery in another country?
Best answer goes to someone with a web address referencing this legal information (regardless of the country.)
-
ANSWER:
I don't think so....if you bought a ring, you bought a thing of value,an object. Breast augmentation is a "procedure", much more than just picking some implants off a shelf and buying them.
But that's what I think....seems like the World Bank has other ideas:"Some of the potential categories of services and commodities to which a non-essential excise tax could be applied included transportation, medical/dental services, personal care, cars, mobile phones, legal expenses and IT purchases." from website listed below.

QUESTION:
has anyone had breast augmentation in mexico, were the results what you expected, and what was the cost?
i am interested in getting breast augmentation but affordable and quality work. It does not have to be in mexico it could be in dfw, tx area. any suggestions.-
ANSWER:
There are many people that go to Mexico for surgery and have a very safe successful surgery. I've been there twice and I'm going back again. The prices range.
You want to go to an FACS surgeon (see facs.org)
They must be board certified in plastics,
They must work out of an actual hospital and not a clinic,
They must have a long reputation with US citizens.
Do not mail photographs of yourself nude through snail mail or email.
That's just a start, there is a great deal of research you must do.
The cost for a skilled surgeon in a quality hospital is 00-00 using top of the line implants.
Research carefully, choose wisely, and it can be quite safe.

QUESTION:
How can I check if my plastic surgeon has any complaints filed if he is from Mexico?
I decided that now after having my children and going through major weight changes I want to have a breast augmentation. I chose a doctor from Tijuana because it is affordable and someone I know has had "work" done there before, although not the same procedure. Now it's a couple days before surgery and I'm worried because I've heard of so many negative things that could happen. I've tried to google him but found very little info. Does anyone know how I could find out if he's good?-
ANSWER:
I wouldn't tell you how even if I knew, because getting plastic surgery outside of the country--especially in Mexico--is a terrible and dangerous idea.

QUESTION:
Why doesn't the US have a health plan like Canada's Social medecine. Can it really benefit US citizens?
I know so many who won't go to see a doctor because they can't afford the visit. The meds are very expensive and adds to to problem.Canada on the other hand pays for everyone to see a doctor and gets their meds at affordable prices. We on the other hand refuse to allow US citizens to purchase"Life-Dependant" meds from there. Same pharmacutical companys only tripple in price here in the US.All political figures in the White house have excellent Ins.plans so they don't worry about us little people. Besides they get paid very well.It seems cruel not to have a better way of taking care of our sick. I know of military wifes who choose to get plastic surgery, breast lifts and augmentation, tummy tucks, etc. Not out of necessity but by choice, to look nice??? expense that is vain and not fair..Older americans who supported the nation by paying taxes.Don't get me wrong I support our military..but it's unfair to give carte blanc to someone who abuses the system.-
ANSWER:
Well, the situation is... in the U.S. if you're rich, you can afford insurance and medical care... in Canada, everyone gets it but not on their schedule... so rich Canadians come here to get it on their schedule...
So... I look at the census... the median household income for America is approx. ,000, so that's half of America making ,000 or less a year. If your household is making ,000, (probably a two income household, with two people making on average ,000 each)you probably can't afford even a small procedure to be performed and if you get a procedure, you'll be in debt for at least a couple of years (not to mention the costs of medication), and that's if you're insured. (Also according to the census, 32 percent of Americans don't have medical insurance).
What I'm saying is, according to these numbers, over half of America clearly can not take advantage (without severe financial penalty) of the American healthcare system as it stands, and thats a sad state to be in.
And it's getting worse as insurance goes up 5+ percent a year (for the past few years) and wages are barely rising at all.
So, if you're rich, you probably like it, if you're not... you probably don't.. but there are more poor pepole than rich, so hopefully we can get some changes.
